  • My head beats a better way...Tomorrow a better day.

I'll never thank them enough for these notes.

  • I want to marry the guitar riff at 2:22.

  • My cure for "depression" is relaxation, I personally don't believe in "depression" but I do believe in your mind getting overwhelmed which makes you feel like crap.

  • @CaptainRetardify haha you don't believe in depression... do you also not believe in grief? happiness? fear?

  • @CaptainRetardify You've clearly never been close to anyone with a depressive disorder.

  • @CaptainRetardify "your mind getting overwhelmed which makes you feel like crap." is kind of the definition for the word depressed. So you do believe in depression, you just think it means something else.

  • @CaptainRetardify Depression is a clinically recognized desease. It's a lack of serotonine. (Excuse my poor english, I'm french)

  • @outragevideo or dopamine

  • Definately one of my favourite albums of all time! :D

  • Best Oasis song that Oasis never made

  • sounds like Oasis

  • @gogolplex74 No offence, but it would be a sin to ever compare Porcupine Tree to Oasis...

  • @StrenghOfMyLife I know but I couldn't resist

  • 3:40

  • best pre gavin harrison album

  • Best intro... EVER!

  • The last seconds with children sounds are reminding me of Another brick in the wall :)

  • Steven Wilson is a genius

  • I'll only take medicine if it's followed by sweets

  • Orgasmic!

  • q buena rola

  • Can anyone recommend any porcupine tree song that is similar to this?

  • @kainbloodlust check out trains, arriving somewhere but not here, nine cats, blackest eyes, fear of a blank planet and moon touches your shoulder. it will be worth your while.

  • @trollphie Don't forget the "Incident" Album, espially I drive the Hearse reminds of Lightbulb Sun, ah don't forget time flies :-)

  • @trollphie you left out Stupid dream, Signify and recordings to name a few :) Sky moves sideways

  • @kainbloodlust Always Never

  • @kainbloodlust Just listen to all of their songs, everything Porcupine related is amazing

  • @kainbloodlust honestly, just check out this album. Everything on this album is themed after this song.

  • Marijuana doesnt make you better than anyone, people need to remember that or risk becoming what they 'hate'.

  • Steven Wilson is the reason I bought a PRS guitar

  • I smoke marijuana and i listen to porcupine tree

  • @Kushburnindaily I smoked next doors cat. his name was Marley. Is this the same?

  • Lightbulb Sun seems to be an amazing record !

  • I used to smoke weed, drink beer, drop acid, eat shrooms, drink ayahuasca, vape dmt, snort blow, drink belladonna, and then I found Porcupine Tree, best drug ever. Been sober ever since.

  • @guit4rg0d99

Your mistake was doing everything following smoking weed... Weed is fine, just stick with that ;)

  • @jacobtylerwhitemusic Its about as good as smoking tobacco is for your lungs. But for your brain. Which is not very good. But youll live.

  • @PennyDreadful1

That's what a vaporizer is for, oh and edibles.

  • @jacobtylerwhitemusic hey dont be a fag

  • The first part remember me an april's sunny morning.

  • I love this album cover

  • not sure i get the 'positive' message in this song, but that's just me. this song always seemed to have the ability to take me way too deeply into the life of a sickly child's suffering and longing to be out and about with his friends. but hey, this is art... and we're all bound to feel different stuff from it.

  • I've heard tons of PT, but somehow this passed by me. This song rocks.

  • This song is about HOPE and, why not, HAPPINESS.

  • if you're feeling depressed... do something meaningful with yourself.

  • @Doonecat Yes, like comment mon youtube lol jk

  • @Doonecat Porcupine Tree are my cure for depression

  • @Doonecat it's honestly the best medicine for it.

  • @Doonecat wish i could do it...

  • I'm pretty sure this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded

  • @jezza09187 along with up the downstair, the sky moves sideways, fear of a blank planet, the incident, deadwing, and signify

  • @jezza09187 Oh most definitely. Certainly one of my top five from the past fifteen years or so. This album will always be special to me because I remember the circumstances of my life at around the time. Soon after I saw PT live twice, met Steve Wilson in person. The live show in Philly is one of my best live experiences ever. They just kicked major butt. Few bands display the kind of honesty, emotional depth and power that PT does. It's rare for any band but especially newer bands.

  • Solo always gets me where it hurts.

  • Why isn't this on iTunes?!

  • @Achw3l Because you're supposed to buy the whole album, dude and listen to the rest of the awesome songs on it. If you can't find it in record stores, it's pretty easy to find online.

  • @Achw3l Beacuse Steven wilson hates Apple.....

  • @CristianTejadaU He highly prefers music to be sold in a physical format, he's against ipods and whatnot.

  • Solo fucking rocks

  • Awesome PT song and one of my favourites... My son got a Lightbulb Sun tattoo yesterday! Nice job and yeah, his head beats a better way :))

  • wow just discovered this band...one of my students recommended them...love this music...to PTlover647...I am sorry man...but given my lifestyle, we can laugh about it later...when I join you

  • Howl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing this song with so much feeling... who can't like this song :)

  • This cover reminds me of the one of wish you were here

  • @LaCrepaAsesina

Not surprising, considering that Wilson is a huge Pink Floyd fan.

  • @Peregrineeagle

Yes, but it has it's very own disturbing style as well :)

  • It remembers me ACDC - Stormy May Day xD

    Anyway, great song!!

  • PT is the shit!! LOVE them!!

  • Ooooh this is the remaster. The bass in the chorus is mixed into it heaps better. Sounds great. Better impact.

  • @senecadawg2; I suggest that you listen to all of PT's songs, make a running list of all the ones you really like, then purchase and download them from amazon or itunes. This way you only pay for the songs you really want. You can then burn them to a CD for vehicle listening and other uses. Yes, PT is an awesome band, one of the very best of all time, in my humble opinion. My fave tunes are "Always Never", "Trains", "Blackest Eyes", "Lightbulb Sun", "Even Less", "Fadeaway" and "Prodigal".

  • I have a serious problem!! I discovered this band an hour ago and I have been listening to different songs randomly. Songs from different albums... I love them all but I want to buy a cd. It seems that no matter what cd i get I will be missing out on a beautiful song like this one... So which cd should i look for as a starter? considering that they all sound great so far.

  • @senecadawg2 Buy all of them ;P

For the first one though, just pick one at random which you fill that you are gonna like, every single of them is absolutely amazing so it isn't important which you choose first since every single will blow your mind anyways.

  • @Lucidmakexael24695 Yes indeed !! You should buy them all...@senecadawg2....all of them are simply amazing.....all o them.

  • @senecadawg2 I had the same problem a while back, but luckily PT has no bad songs. :)

Really just search for as much as you can. It's all amazing. Just be aware that the farther back to PT's origins you go the more psychedelic the music will get, and the closer you get to present day the heavier it gets. Lightbulb sun is a nice middle ground.

  • @senecadawg2 deadwing, or stupid dream would be your best bet i think, but they are all masterpices they dont have a bad albuam let alone even a song

  • @PuReNiRvANA1 I add Fear of a blank planet to that list, I can listen to those 3 albums without skippin' any song!!

  • I don't get the Pink Floyd comparison at all. PT really doesn't have anyone who sounds like them or vice versa.

  • Would love to learn this on my guitar, but I'm a horrible arranger.

  • @Gamagachee the electric guitar riff is very easy, all 4th chords

  • @populvuh02 Hey what's the chords?

  • awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • idk bout u guys but i keep listening to Porcupne Tree and i dont find anything related to Pink Floyd, only in their early beginnings some pieces may be a lil bit infleunced by them but this is nothing like Pink floyd!!!!!!!!!! not being a hter though, just sayin

  • @FlyteDanny i am a big pink floyd fan but i have to say porcupine tree are better probably one of the greatest band of all times

  • what type of piece of shit would dislike porcupine tree

  • @maddoxhell a piece of shit

  • @MichaelDcodered94 true...

  • i like how it goes from soft acoustick (sorry im not good with spelling) to heavy rock its

    pretty sweet

  • Who are the two idiots who disliked this?

  • MY FAVOURITE! If somone asked me to describe myself. i'd tell them listen to this

  • 3:04

  • This is a great band to listen to at night before you fall asleep. Gives you nice dreams. :)

  • Now if only Rush would take some cues. Though it seems they did with the new single they got out.

Rush and PT, Greatest bands ever. Period.

  • can someone refer me to a song which will explain my thoughts of suicide before i commit?

  • Comment removed

  • @JUSTaSTEPPINGstone

Better to find a song that explains why you should live : )

  • @Restayvien well perhaps in finding out what is depressing me, i would be able to figure out how to change it, and then i wont need any song at all :)

  • All these comments about the emotional power of this song in total are so true, and I relate deeply because of my own illness. But I want to also declare that Lightbulb Sun has the most beautiful bass line of any song I've ever heard.

  • whenever I listen to Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson's solo album It just reaches into my soul and makes me wonder about life and living it. This kind of music just makes me feel better about myself and life around me. It makes me feel so alive despite anything that happened in the past.

  • Few things in life are worth a damm for me...im depressed, sad, but PT is there...i agree, musically theyre beautifully depressing, but they give me hope. they allow me to find the beauty in sorrow (does that sound vaguely familiar??)

  • porcupine tree = progressive rock gurus!

  • 2:24 till about 2:44. Gets me every single time

  • <3<3 PT... one of the most amazing bands... PERIOD.

  • i think this album is above all the mellowest of all Porcupine tree albums....but it still amazes me to this day. i am eternally grateful to have all their albums:)

  • great song from an AMAZING album. this band has never disappointed me, and never will. steven wilson is a musical genius.

  • I don't need drugs. I just listen to PT and get high :D

  • @jaisonbass This. Thumbs up again!

  • @jaisonbass no kidding...mind blowing band

  • Amazing song. Amazing band. Saw them live last month, and they were incredible. PT rule!

  • this song is bad ass too though, so it makes it all the more worthwhile

  • tends to happen to any music. get stoned and listen to lil' wayne's album rebirth, it's so terrible but when i got high and listened to it it was...okay. but it was better!

  • I'm getting stoned and the more stoned I get the better this songs gets.

  • Love the bass line. So sexy! Such an awesome tune. Another amazing PT song introducing another amazing PT album.

  • they remind me of Riverside.

  • Riverside remind me of Porcupine Tree

  • Well obviously i had heard of Riverside before Porcupine Tree, thats why i made the statement i did. I think both bands are amazing for very different reasons.

  • heh, yep!

  • "Is making me wish I was back on my feet."

    Perfect ending.

  • The opening riff is sooo amazing. I don't even know why I'm in love with it, its so simple.

  • @Seriousdude111 totally totally totally! Transports me to a different world when I hear the riff.

  • Thank you for sharing with us this masterpiece =D

    5stars =P

  • amazing song, amazing band. bloody beautiful <3

  • This song arguably has the best riff out all the PT songs.

  • There's nothing better than listening to this song while in the vastness of a patagonian landscape

  • Porcupine Tree

  • PPPPP/oooo/RRRRR????

    amazing bulb.

  • what a GREAT band!!!

  • great

  • 2:20 is just fantastic

  • This song is so beautiful to me...... Lately I have been very sick (as in life threatening sick) and I'm not sure how much longer I'll be around....... if you think about it, this is a song about a sick boy, who can never get out of bed, so to him the sun is a lightbulb..... This song just gives me hope that......you know, I'm not alone. There are other people like me out there also...... PT ROX MY SOX!!!!!!

  • I totally agree. It's amazing how much music can touch people differently. I'm not life-threateningly ill, but I can imagine myself in your shoes, listening to this song. This whole album blows my mind away. I give you all my love and support and hope for the best for you, PTLover.

  • Una auténtica obra maestra

  • What a beautiful interpretation. Never even thought of that.

  • Get well man. When I felt very bad about life (kinda a depression) I was listening to Porcupine Tree, and PT gave me hope, I was feeling better while listenning their songs.

  • @KadruH

It's funny how you feel that way and PT gave you hope, when so many people out there say it's a band with depressing songs. I don't agree with that though =)

  • your getting the thumbs up man...pull through eh? :)

best regards, youll be in our prayers . Brad

  • @PTLover647 The combination of reading this comment and this song at the same time made me tear up a little.

  • @PTLover647 hope you get well, stay positive and never stop fighting, dont give up

  • @PTLover647 - May your head beat a better way.

  • @PTLover647 I really have not much to say, no words can compare with what you have or how you feel but I heartly wish you get well, just please never throw the towel and think that you wont be around much longer... you will. Im definitely not religious and I dont want anyone giving me sermons back on my comment, but if God really exists, may He bless you and keep you among us, he has too many angels and we need some in here with us, so stick around.

  • @PTLover647 Get well soon mate!

  • @PTLover647 ill pray for you... -_-

    hope you get better... :(

  • @PTLover647 Hope you're doing well, wherever you are :)

  • @PTLover647

    Hope you get well =)

  • @PTLover647 Music you can relate to is the kind you love the most.

  • @PTLover647 Touching. Porcupine Tree is amazing like that!

  • @PTLover647 you still alive?

  • sickly pink liquid...

  • love the old stuff

  • this song always brings a smile to my face :)
