  • wow I remember they actually used to televise this stuff! Loved every minute of it when I caught it on tv

  • Someone needs to up the video I think it was early 90's winterfest events the one in particular where Cliff Lett does his triple digit run!

  • Yup, Yup it was a "colourful" time

  • would like to set up a track here in minnesota, in the minneapolis area, for oval racing, on road, buzz me if you are interested.

  • U knw ur cool if u watch this...

  • A lot of people had poor choice in clothing at that time.

  • @CanadaBud23 that is how i dress

  • this is a really awesome video

  • can anyone please tell me what that song is up to 1:10 ??? Sweet vid by the way ...RIP the 90s

  • @FLoYdInPink

Pipeline, by The Ventures -unfortunately -all the speeds were exaggerated by 10 to 15 mph.....

  • wow i had no idea rc cars were going this fast back in 1990-92

  • I used to read about this event every year in RC Car Action. It was always so cool to see what designs came out of the drivers/builders. I seem to remember someone had a car with 1 motor driving the front wheels and another driving the back and a psychotic amount of cells. Think it was Ralph Burch Jr.

  • pipeline!!!!

  • I am trying to set up a race here in Dallas. Anybody intrested???

  • @ChillyDog1111 post an add in the papers and charge 5 bucks to ente, with that money buy a trophy and people will come to race!

  • Just imagine how fast those things could go today with the brushless and lipo batteries

  • wow so cool!!!!! and I like the music

  • they have one of those in baton rouge its now a skate park

  • Dammit! I wanted to see the insane speed run! Didn't Dan sell "Banana Lube"?

  • @rustyATV He sure did and still might. You can probably get a hold of him, he's still out here in Chatsworth, CA and super nice guy.

  • They actually ran 20 cars at Dominguez Hills and Encino. It gets really crowded on the track with 20 cars. With 20 cars and about 10 second laps it is super hard to get back up to speed after a crash.

  • Them cars all lined up weren't run all at once. That was what we called the "Concours" (Best-appearing Car). Back then, you could only run a maximum of 10 cars due to the radio frequencies being used to control each car. Nowadays, we have 2.4gHz in the radios/receivers; if there was a race like this today, you could probably run 40 cars ;)

  • wtf the man in the bannana costume

  • ahh thats how it was back then too bad they discontinued all the classica rc

i have one my dads friend gave it to me

  • how can the controller see if the car is on the other side of the track? O_O

  • @ahmedkibaba they were standing on a tall platform

  • u know?

it still will be very hard

  • Boy do I mis these days!

  • hahah very cool !!,, the funny part when you control the other car,, h\a\\hahha .. hard to know where your car when the starting grid..

  • Dang this shit is intense lol

  • ...coool... :O

  • dang! that was alot of r/c s

  • i think they should put r/c cars into a pro sport not just trying to get in to the teams by company

  • Love these 'old' videos. Remember reading the articles. Wish I had all the videos back then!! Thanks so much for the 'flashbacks'!

  • How cool is that::!!!! I started in the hobby around 1987. Old school racing was hard core ,Old nicad rc drivers are tougher than modern lipo sissy drivers.

  • Oh man this take me back. I remember all these guys when growing up. Especially that Tide car. Got started in racing with RC. Moved onto full size sports car racing. I had no idea guys are running brushless motors now, what a jip. You could tweak the hell outta those. I alway loved cracking the timing on the stock. And guys not running NiCads anymore are just wussies. I'd like to see these new guys try putting out a ton of wattage and still last your 4 minutes..all on equally charged cells.

  • Ralph Birch Jr. Now Team X-ray....2009

  • AWESOME stuff to see the old names too! (PS.. love the glasses on McAllister) :)

  • If we had brushless motors and Lipos, maybe we would have continued the RC ThunderDrome! Thanks Nic, great Video,

    Dan

  • Who are all these skinny young guys? :oP~~~

  • Nice video
