  • "If I let you reach me, will you teach me?" See that's the thing... most people expect God to just help them, they don't realize that they have to be the ones who go to Him first. "Knock and it shall be opened, ask and it shall be given" One would think that this song will teach people that when their lives are going to hell, the best thing to do is to put their faith and trust in God, instead of turning their backs on Him and then wondering why things get worse.

  • and this movie is from the people who brought you Shrek

  • i know you better than i

  • amen

  • this somehow makes me wanna cry. i think whatever age you are, you can relate to this. <3

  • Nice song with beatiful lyrics that strengthened me, thank you

  • I am a Buddhist. This song moves me to tears as it speaks the truth to me. Life is good, resisting the path is suffering . Opening to the adventure of life fearlessly ,setting ego or self aside , and embracing the now is bliss. Love is the law.

  • @DockyardDiva that's not really what this song is about it's about letting go and letting God take control (sorry if i offended you, but i speak the truth)

  • Beautiful.....

  • So beautiful maşallah. Allah cc knows best

  • i remember this movie from when I was younger mainly because of this song...and years later i find myself in a different country far from home asking God "what now?"....... and all it takes is watching this vid to get my spirit back on track.... God bless you all.

    Home-sick

  • Ever since I was little I felt like God has spoken to me through this song. When I hear the lyrics I am reminded whose in charge of my life.

  • @aslansgirl8 I agree with you....

  • I remember this movie. It was a great movie when i was young. I love this song the most throughout the whole movie..

  • There's a lot to learn from this video, also the lyrics of the song.

Joseph went through a lot, [extremely and intensely] but he trusted God all the way.

We may go through storms, dark valleys, confusion situations - don't know what to do and sometimes complain about it or even blame or ask God why God about it, instead, we need to realise and acknowledge that God knows the blueprint for our lives, all we got to do is to trust in Him for He will guide us through - He knows better than us.

  • I bought a CD from Joy Williams and it had this song and i was like, "THAT IS SO FAMILIAR!" So i played it over and over again and went on youtube and found this and reminded me so much when I was smaller.

Now I want to watch the movie again xP

    God bless <3

  • good song. we watched the movie in class and our teacher sings it all the time now hehe ;)

  • i watched this video when i was younger and i never forgot this scene and song. it always made me tear up a bit >.< saw the movie like a BUNCH of times x]

  • this song is one of the better songs out there depicting what it means to follow christ. Its not telling god what to do but following what god has set aside for you.

  • I heard this song when i was really little when it just barely came out on dvd...

  • Is there a soundtrack to this movie? If so, what store can I buy it from or website, that is legal, that I can order it from.

  • it touches in the heart this song!

  • This song always makes me cry. It is a wonderful reminder of how God loves us and will take care of us NO MATTER WHAT. Just think the trust Joseph had in God, and he was in the worst situation imaginable. A truly inspiring message.

  • im not really religious or anything but i belive that this shows that with a little care, time and patience anything can become strong and beautiful. i think thats what we really have to do for our planet.

  • I think this is a great song for ALL religions.

  • @badwold830 God is a loving God and he IS GOD regardless of what he does. You do not understand that what he does has a purpose, but a purpose we are to weak and foolish to comprehend. God could be punishing people, but also could be using them as testimony like Joseph was in this video. We simply do not know. the most we can do to understand him is become closer to God through prayer and worshiping him or reading the bible.

  • Trust in god is always the better way. To many times i fall down by going my own way

  • really? 5 people disliked this? no, im not gonna make a joke. seriously. why?

  • love this song!

can i ask a question to the christains watching this video, i dont mean to cause offence, but why do you say 'bad things happen for a reason it doesnt mean there is no god'. I cant see how you can think a 'loving god' would let things like the holocuast happen with out intervining. please let me know what you think :)

  • @badwolf830 Well, everything happens for a reason. In our lives we are here to find out who we are. I do belive that there is a God and no one will tell me different. That is a very good question. :) When someone moves on..a new life comes into the world. That's how I see everything as.

  • @badwolf830

It is God who allows anything to happen to us..it is by His soverein will..because He knows what's BEST for us..even our hurts situations will be used for us to be strong in this life.God loves us so much

  • @badwolf830

It is God who allows anything to happen to us..it is by His sovereign will..because He knows what's BEST for us..even our hurts situations will be used for us to be strong in this life.God loves us so much

  • @badwolf830 No offense taken, other opinions make you think. :) My personal perspective on it is that sin messed up this world, and even though it makes God horribly sad to watch the world He created fall into such terrible situations, without sin there would be no need for Jesus and redemption. Sin separated men from God forever, and Jesus came to bridge that gap. It's part of his plan. We may not always understand, but we will come to eventually.

  • @badwolf830 I wouldn't say "bad things happen for a reason." God gave humanity free will out of love. Although God is good, God allows us to make our own decisions. My understanding of bad things happening is that they started happening when the first sin, the first evil act, was committed by man. God allows people to make bad choices on Earth, and those choices can affect other people. We are most strongly affected by God's mercy and justice after our earthly death.

  • Such a good song to listen to when you have a bad day or feeling down. =) l wish a few other songs were as powerful as this song.

  • I'm athiest and I absolutely adore these kinds of movies :D

  • @BuffManTheThird Amen, I believe that DreamWorks put that into the film

To show the change of adituitude of the film

  • I hate the beginning of this clip because not once did Joseph ever curse God or have a bad attitude about his situation. As for this song, it's freaking amazing and I love how at first, with each stone, he looks at all of his bad experiences and then when he runs out of excuses to feel sorry for himself, he starts to look back at all the good times. This is the perfect song about humbling yourself before God and accepting his love and having faith that he will help you through it all. :)

  • @BuffManTheThird I like it because it shows he's human. Sometimes as humans we can't help but curse the situation we are in, or cry out to God in sheer frustration. Jeremiah was called "the weeping prophet". And said "Cursed be the day I was born". We all despair sometimes, it doesn't make us any better or worse. It may not be right but is sometimes unavoidable. :( Some of the Psalms are horribly depressing as well, all David seems to be doing is weeping about his situation in life. xxxxx

  • @vbaudelaire Understandable, but he never cursed God or blamed God for his problems. I still like this video though. :)

  • @farita86

i know the last time u and "lollita" talked was like months ago but im so sad about the advice she gave u...u said u were going threw a hard time adn she told u faith isnt good enough i believe that is totally wrong my faith adn trust in my Heavenly Father has gotten me through more then i could have done on my own...this song gives me strength as well adn i hope u did find religion i know mine has gotten me through alot i hope ur trial is past but i also hope u listened to ur heart!

  • "I'll take what answers you provide" .. probably the HARDEST thing to do. but then we should always be assured that God has a big and great plan for us. Plans to give us hope and a future - Jer. 29:11. as it says in Psalm, "Be still and know that I am God" God is in charge. He is in control. We just have to sit still and see how mighty and how awesome our creator is. :)

  • I believe Joseph is the one of the best example in the OT of what faith really is - which is complete dependence on God. It's not what I do that is wright or wrong, or where I choose to go, but ultimately how dependent I am of God. How I have come to a realization that I am completely helpless without him. Even though we may not understand why things are happening around us, God wants us to trust him since he has a plan for us. and it's when we do that God raise us up greatly. like Joseph

  • Well, I am sure the coat was beautiful, whether or not it had many colors, it is metaphoric for the meaning behind the scriptures and the life of Joseph and how much love his father loved him as well as the Lord himself. It also reminds us of how important forgiveness is. If the father forgives us as he does, so can we as Joseph forgave. And furthermore, I was quoting the movie, "Joseph, and the Coat of many Colors." That is actually a movie and is my Sons fav. God bless.

  • how come dreamworks didn't make any more magnificent films such as this based on the scriptures from the bible?

  • beautiful song!!! Always inspire me...God certainly knows better than I

  • strange thing is, im am very agnostic but i am going through a troublesome time in my life (scuse the spelling)this song you know better than i, its made me want to find religion ....not that i am going to but it shows how powerful this movie/cartoon/whatever is,it shows the power the song, amazing

  • @farita86 your going to have to find your own strength Farita, believe me on that one faith is nice but it will also lead you down a very dangerous (and disappointing) road. Things go up, things go down regardless of God or Gods.

  • @Lollitia very well said Lollitia, and I agree with you but I guess it's only human to have periods of self doubt that pushes you to seek strength from other sources but then through time and trials , you realise the strength could be found in yourself, and knowing the people who love and care for you will offer their support....if that makes sense :) have a nice weekend

  • i thought this was a good one thanx can u mak better to hear thanx good vid

  • Such an inspiring song and reaches me at those moments of "Why God?". Thanks for posting. The audio is really quiet, though.

  • i love this movie i watch it like lol hundred times my lilttle niece watch this all the time. is good to watch this and now these days movies for kids arent that good

  • I don't think Ben Affleck should have done the voice though...

  • i like this movie .. very much

  • this sounds almost like the guy who does the voice for aladdin.....and i do love this song to....i feel the same way he does even now more than i have ever felt

  • Anyone know who the artist would be or where I can get this song?

  • Amen, this is my favorite cartoon movie besides The Prince of Egypt and Joseph the

    Coat of many colors....

  • @VICTORIA777NESS the funny thing is is that they made a whole musical about his coat being 'many coloured' but it just had full sleeves according to genesis

  • awh i love this film (:

  • great song, with a powerful message i find myself listening to this when i need some encouragement, and it helps... thanks for the upload

  • When did this play in the movie

  • when he was in jail after Asenath tried 2 sneak him food. it fell off the ceiling (sneaking it thru a hole the roof) the basket of food fell n broke, rats got 2 it n ate everything

  • @disneyfan25821 right after he was accused of raping Potterif's wife and thrown into a dungeon, he explains two of the other prisoners dreams, they are taken away, and he is alone, this song starts after he looses the food to rats that his wife to by tried to lower down to him... this song begins, sorry if that was a long reply, i know this was posted 10 months ago, but i thought i would reply in case no one else did, i hope you watch the movie, it's a great exp, and i am not a christian...

  • this song is touching.this boy at my church song this song today.

  • Absolutely love this movie and the song. Thank you for posting.

  • what an awesome song

anyone know where to download to this song??

  • I love this song! And movie :D

  • love this song sososooooo much

  • I loved this movie...........I was pissed off when they started singing at the start but im sure glad i watched it.

  • I have this one and The Prince of Egypt watching these is just so powerful

  • Is that aladin's voice?

  • it sure sounds like it doesn't it?

  • This is a beautiful song. Even Abraham, Isaac and Jacob made many mistakes. They were people too, I think that's the beauty of humanity and also something amazing about religion. The torah, the testimant, the Koran and others arent afraid to portray their saints, fathers and prophets as human and making mistakes.

  • I agree with you there. if their to perfect then how can we relate to them?

  • Just because they are perfect doesn't mean we cannot relate to them. Its just like Jesus in the bible..yes he was perfect but at the same time he calls everyone to imitate him, to be holy just as he was. I like the fact that he was perfect, it gives me the best example out of anyone else on how to live.

  • I have read everyone's comments and find them well said. I think that being a Christian makes mistakes. We all judge and dislike a person, but that is a normal reaction in life. God wants us to learn from it though and follow his way. He opens his arms even to the most lost and depressed. He waits for us to walk to him and walk his way. You can still call yourself a Christian, even through mistakes, but just learn from it and go with his way. ^^

  • I have read the comments and find everyone's answers well said. ^^ I think that a Christian does make mistakes. We do sometimes judge or dislike a person. But that is a normal reaction in life. That does not mean to not call yourself a Christian. It just means, that from mistakes we learn from it and that is what God wants us to do. To turn to him and follow his way, despite how you see things and go through. He opens his arms to everybody, especially the most lost and depressed.

  • That was a beautiful movie. I love this song

  • love this song

  • I love this song! I have this movie on video tape. I really love singing to this!!!

  • lol i love this song. hehe idk bout God though.

  • I don't care what others say, our God is worthy of all our praise.

  • really beautiful song..I don't know if I like this one better or the spanish version *sighs* it says " You Lord have a plan, I'll never again question it " something like that lol

  • While I myself am an agnostic atheist, I really do love this song. Christian music is very nice and heart warming, regardless of the price the comfort of religion has.

  • What's the price?

  • Such an amazing song. Very powerful to the human soul =D The movie is amazing aswell. I am not chirstian but I do love and respect our great lord. "I'll take what answers you supply" Is an amazing message. God bless <3

  • I am protestant. God is in my blood. in all of our blood =D <3

  • How aren't you a Christain?

  • It lifts you up doesn't it?

Every bad situation im going through when i play this song it just seems to make sense....'He Knows Better Than I'....its a beautiful film aswell :)

  • Brilliant! I love it! It empowered me, and I can't exactly describe it, a very inspiring song. "To see the best thing I can do is put my trust in you." That's the whole message, and it's all done wonderfully. This one of the reasons I am a Christian; this is what I love about it. =-D He knows better than I.

  • a friend of my brother sang this song at the graduation, and his voice should be on broadway!! This songs makes his voice sound So good!! This song is so deep and true!!!!!!!!!!

  • .."To see the best thing I can do is put my trust in You".

  • this song is so beautiful and powerful and deep. i love it!

  • I have become disillusioned with the Christian church. After 9 years of going to Catholic school and never once pressured on any political views, I was shocked to find how intolerant the church can really be. But it's songs like this that remind me that just because the church and it's prejudices can be ugly, the faith itself is beautiful.

  • *nod* It's important to remember that not all Christians are the same. We're actually a very loving and caring group of people; but, unfortunately, a few bad apples have given us all a bad name. God loves all people, so a real Christian will follow His example; anyone who doesn't love all people and calls themselves a Christian ... well, they need to reexamine the set of beliefs they subscribe to.

  • You've said it.

Not to mention the media also gives Christians a bad name by making every Christian person(usually a pastor or minister) that appears on some TV show some sort of rapist or murderer. =/

  • I agree. I think that it's because Christians usually hold a set of beliefs that the media would call very conservative, which might bother them a bit. But not all of us are the prejudiced, judgmental bigots we're made out to be. As I said before, those of us who are prejudiced and judgmental probably shouldn't call themselves CHRISTians.

  • Love everyone, but not everyone's actions.

  • Precisely. Hate the sin - not the sinner.

  • yes, but at the same time, Christians are not perfect people. That's why we need God. Hence the topic of the song.

  • I never implied that Christians are perfect people.

I said that true Christians try to follow God's example by loving one another. That does not imply that true Christians never make mistakes.

  • @Ebonytears12 True but sometimes it's harder for some to follow God than others. You shouldn't judge so easily.

  • @SwordmaidenGwen Is it wrong to believe that, if someone is not living a Christlike life dedicated to love and service, then they are not living full Christian lives and are thus not true Christians? Yes, we all sin, we all have doubt -- but Christ's story is one of redemption and sacrifice.

"I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." -- 1st Corinthians 13

  • @Ebonytears12 Amen.

  • Aaah that was gorgeous! thanks

  • God bless you for upload this song :D

  • I'm pretty hostile towards Christianity, Islam and the Jewish faith, however I find this song and the statement of "You know better than I" very inspiring..

  • me encanta esta pelicula... Ademas porque esta apegada a la historia verdadera de Jose. Yo la lei en la biblia y la conozco bastante y por eso digo. Y la cancion es hermosa

  • I adore this song. :]

  • You should probably watch out for the unsteady rock.

  • I love the leaf because it shows God always leaves a remnant. He may break us but there is always hope, because Christ conquered death. This song is expresses that without saying it outright, but just the saying "you know better than I" means so much.

  • his beard never grows

  • 12And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

    zacheriah chapter 14

    INFOWARSCOM OPEN YOUR MINDS!

  • Yes a prophecy for those who will attack Israel in the last day. This is probably because of a nuclear bomb.

  • actually it was in response to the eugenics wars going on already world war four -

nitrate in meats that's just one of many topics - GMO (genetically modified organisms) etc.

    I N F O W A R S . C O M

  • Oh thats not good, but the Messiah will return.

  • this was a really sad movie to a point, but had a nice ending. O man, I've watched this and the prince of egypt a million times! lol

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • This is my favorite sequence of the movie. It's just so soulful, how he grows the tree and has flashbacks of all the ordeals he's gone through. I love it!

  • the story to this movie is full of tears, highly recommend it, this song is my favorite gospel song, yes for he know better

  • I love this song even though im not jewish or christian XD

  • so was this a movie and if so what movie was it?

  • Joseph King of Dreams

  • thanx i looked at the more info thing right after i posted this and found that it said it.

    heehee my bad:)

  • i love this song :]

i made a full instrumental version for this song.. if you're interested, click on the video with my user name under it in the video response section or visit my youtube channel...

  • This is One of my Favourite song! Thank You For Posting This Song!

  • I really love this song!

  • I love this song! It is very inspireing!

  • he's story encourages me all the time. i love this song too, especially for the lyrics.

  • i love this song

  • That's one fast growing tree. XD

Well it's a great song and a fantastic story, and I'm not getting into religious debate, but that WAS a fast growing tree. XD

  • haha, i think he was in jail for a long time, but i dunno

  • like 40 years or some biblical number like that

  • Is there a tree actually mentioned in the Bible? Cant be bothered to check it out! Anyway, I do know he was in jail for a looong time, so it probably did grow

  • Yes there was a tree in that bible story. ^^ Although he wasn't in jail for forty years... either way it's a fast growing tree. XD

  • Noooo, there isn't a tree mentioned.

  • Its just a movie to make each step of the tree growing another lesson learnt or memory. I think its neat how the tree grows fast. after all in my belief iwould say it shows how anytihing ispossible with god around. and i encourage people to try the christian view.

  • he was in jail for 2 years i believe

  • osunstatefinest, i couldnt agree more.

  • This is such a powerful song. It really makes you think, it has a meaningful and hopeful meaning and it's true that God knows better then us.

  • Such a sad song. His family was really negative. But the songs hold so much innocent meaning. It lifts me up and gives me hope whenever I listen to them.

  • beautiful lyrics...i wanna see dis movie again...if I can just find the Cd.

    My favorite part was

"I saw one cloud and thought it was a sky

I saw a bird and thought that I could follow

But it was you who taught that bird to fly

If I let you reach me will you teach me"

  • Thats my favorite part..it touches me everytime I listen to it.

  • A beautiful song. It really makes me think, in that simple, but extraurdinary(sp?) way.

"Preach the gospel... If necessary, use words."
