@svg571, they stopped importing it in 2006 due to slow sales, though looking at some Japanese Moteros that I saw on YouTube, they look rather impressive.
Eclipse is my very first car and I still remember that I paid for $9,999 for it back in 1993. It was a perfect car for college students - usable rear seats, large cargo area, great performance, reliability... really love it... I don't know what went wrong with Mitsubishi since 2003. When Hyundai seems to be so aggressive and keep reinventing themselves, Mitsubishi seems to be sleeping and the interior quality is just so bad for the recent year models...
The only car that is holding up mitsubishi right now is the evo but rumors are saying that mitsubishi maybe killing of the evo or turning it into the hybrid. WTF is mitsubishi fucking high?? first the eclipse gets killed now the evo?? eathier mitsubishi needs to bring back the eclipse and stop the evo from getting killed or they will find them sevels in the history books.
@wiiplayer9revisited O ok i hope they do bring back the eclipse. and rumors have been confrimed that in june 2012 mazda is killing off the RX-8 and replacing it with the new RX-9
There is a rumor, according to automobilemag . com that Mitsubishi MAY bring the Eclipse back in the future, but there is no official confirmation yet... Just keep showing your support for the Eclipse, and maybe Mitsu will bring it back.
Without the Eclipse, Mitsubishi is NOTHING. That is the car that put Mitsubishi in with the competition. All the company has now is the Galant, Outlander, and the Lancer. They better second guess the discontinuation or Mitsubishi will be a page in a history book.
@jriley1992, they have the Outlander Sport as well, and they're coming up with the i, but I'd prefer the Eclipse over those two. Or maybe, it's time that Mitsubishi reenter the pickup truck market again, and reintroduce the Triton (aka, Mighty Max) or Raider.
@wiiplayer9revisited You're right, they need to do something. Honestly, Mitsubishi has declined over the years and the Eclipse and Lancer was keeping them alive. Galant was popular, but I really don't see that many new ones on the road compared to the older ones. Raider was a good truck, but they did an awful job of getting it noticed. To sum it up, Mitsubishi needs to get back to what they once were.
@jriley1992, what if someone were to create a petition or survey campaign requesting the continuation of the Eclipse (and other vehicles)? Not sure how that would turn out, but if so, there would be a slim chance to convince Mitsu.
And when I say survey campaign, it should not just be about "Do you want the Eclipse back?" kind of questions, there should be questions about hypothetical details about the car (such as what the car should feature in performance, design, interior, etc.).
@wiiplayer9revisited Yeah, that could work. But I actually liked the 4th generation of the Eclipse. But they should listen to what the public wants instead of what they think we need. But good idea.
I have a '12 GS Sport in Orange with the terra cotta interior and LOVE it. it's the best car I've ever had. So smooth,so responsive, great sound system, great design. It's sad to see it be discontinued, but that's one reason why I got it, it just makes the car THAT much special,a collector's item if you will(with hopefully good resale value).Advice for your first car:get what YOU want.I made a mistake of getting a car I didn't want as my first car..so go for it! I highly recommend this car.
@babylonseeker, cool. I'm really interested in getting a 4g eclipse for my first car later this year, but I'll probably have to get a used one because they're too expensive; my parents can't afford a vehicle over $15,000.
yep, the eclipse is in its last year, and so is the mazda rx-8 , there 2 different companies but their both being discontinued because sales were really bad for these cars in the past years.
@menofat1, yep, and the sales of the Eclipse were sucky not just because of the 3rd generation's design, but because of a financial problem Mitsubishi had years ago.
we had a 98 and now an 07 and they two, while different, are so similar at times that you forget you've changed cars. this car really kept the spirit of the 2nd gen eclipse and that IMO is a great thing.
I was all set to buy an eclipse till I read a month ago about its retirement so I decided to look for another car. I don't want to buy a car that is about to be discontinued.
and WHAT happend to the legendary MITSUBISHI best SUV the MONTERO?

That Eclipse looks pretty cool to start with. I might think about starting off with a used 1991 Sadam once I get a license sometime this year.
