this is the thing that is no deceptive about martial arts...so much of it is staged and fake...and this is no exception...FAKE FAKE FAKE...its giving people a false sense of securety and most are outrite liars to say most of this crap will work in a real fight...
@wordwarrior42: I forgot to mention something, it's fake but you and I know that no innocent person in this world would want to use a punch on somebody else's face. It's something nice people want to believe that would work. Which side are you on, wordwarrior42?
Morihei Ueshiba would agree that this is staged. He would disagree about Aikido not being useful in a fight though. He was only an 80 year old man who threw around the world's top Judoka around like dolls for fun, so what would he know?
I guess the "Best martial art" is what ever your happy with! Personally people can throw opinions until they are blue in the face but Martial Arts is physical expression of ones self. Its why its called Art.

The essence of almoust all arts is centre around the character of a person, his whole being, his appearance, presentation and morality, the ability to endure whatever life throws at him and survive, a key point for both is that the most skilful way to do this is to avoid actual combat.
These concepts are inherent in many arts from the principle
spinning head kicks are only for showing off.. ask yourself this how often do you see these types of kicks in real fighting videos on youtube, or better yet how many spinnign head kicks you see get landed in UFC or the afterschool fight in the school yard. very unpractical
Martialsmash, you are so correct. Look it up in any psychology textbook. Slightly-feminized is actually a better term, but yeah, definitely. Edward Cullen, even, you could use as a textbook comparison, lol.
The Taekwondo guy should use his hands and set up the high kicks and use them to finish the opponent. I got to almost second degree blackbelt in Taekwondo, learned to box, And practiced some Dim mak and Ninjutsu. You can't just throw spinning kicks in a street fight or you get a butt whipping. A good boxer would tear up most martial artists that don't know how to use their hands good and try those flowery spinning kicks-jody
above comment speaks truth, i am in a taekwondo class, and the only type of people that can do well against me are boxers who can get around my kicks and get past my attacking range, and people that can take a kick to the ribs and still keep coming in like nothing happened.
yer i studied ninjutsu as well although it is helpful street fighting is VERY different.
the problem that most martial artists have is that people arn't going go hold ur wrist (like in aikido) or thow a punch that only stops half way so only about 20 - 40% of the stuff u learn is usable and gets even lower with mutiple people, because when u train the people come at u one at a time insted of them all trying to get a cheap shot at u :(
if akido was so great, why hasnt there been an akido champ in mma. the only martial art that ive seen in mma where they effectively use the openents energy against them is judo. i truly admire that art, and its great to see judo fighters throw grown men around with seemingly no strenght or effort. you still have to learn other fighting methods to be a great fighter
What you'll find about many traditional arts is that they don't allow you to compete in organized events outside their own governing body. Along with that Aikido isn't a really combat sport. It's more of a martial art and way of life. Also you'll find Aikido is based of sword movement. So it's a bit less applicable in MMA. Not as many large movements.
Look up "Aikido in MMA" here on YouTube. Aikido can very definately be used in MMA, if someone chose to do so. Aikido is more about self defense than sport; there is a style of aikido that does competition, but most aikidoka don't look to compete.
From personal experience having actually practised Karate and now practising Aikido - Aikido is NOT easy to learn and works on a very different style to most arts, it takes a long time to get anywhere practical, just like it does with BaGuaZhang.
However, I can testify that all those moves are viable and yes, you can "make people fly like that". It just takes a lot more brains than braun.
Just a side note - I accept that a lot of whether or not a martial art is considered effective is much more to do with the person rather than the art. I've won a real fight with a black belt in Karate just because they were too aggressive and didn't think about what they were doing. Yet I've also lost fights to people who practised Muay Thai and Judo who were both lower gradings simply because they were a lot smarter about what they did.
im a muay thai student and i love it im also a fan of aikido im think abotu doing muay thai and aikido but i also like wing chun.... and i also like bjj and i also like boxing i just like so many martial arts acctually....i like all martial arta but my main one is muay thai and wing chun each martial art has a really good element wich can be taken and used properly aikido seriously teaches u how to fall correctly and move your wieght to your feet and stuff like thst -m.a lover
I've been doing different martial arts for years: karate, taekwondo, wing chun, wushu and now i'm doing bjj. I suggest you try bjj. It may not look the most impressive but it is the most technique and skill based martial art out there IMO. Look for a bjj club near you, you wont regret it!
Aikido is the best marial arts cuz it uses the energy of the oponent. its like using a the energy of the bullet fired by the oponent gun, how lethal is that.
guys aikido rocks...but u have to practise aikido more than 10 years if u want to toss and flip and dance with ur enemies...other wise start play piano...
thats just a demonstrationnnn dont you guys see? not a real match cause karate would simply kick the shit out of an aikido fighter, aikido can go with their magic throws and things to another planet lol(jiu jitsu LA Boxing #1 from Puerto Rico)
What does it matter what you train in, your gym, and your location? If you don't do any cross training, Jujitsu is useless when someone won't get into a clinch and doesn't let you get in for a shot. Second, There's LA boxing gyms all over the fucking place. Also, Puerto Rico is just a U.S. territory. Residents of Puerto Rico can't even vote in the general election.
the only way someone with no wrestling background can keep from getting taken down by a good grappler is to stay about ten feet away from him. if you actually want to fight a good grappler you'll need wrestling.
I wrestled for 3 years and you missed the point. newmisa08 was being an ignorant jackass. Someone being so cocky can not be very experienced in martial arts. Who reps their gym chain?
I'm not so sure that I would walk away uninjured from a fight with a decent boxer or someone that's decent in muay thai. If you plan on fighting, not crosstraining is just stupid.
oh i definately believe in cross training. i train stand up too. and muay thai fighters have the thai clinch to work with so that just adds to their little bag of tricks.
ever think that you dont need tricks? and all you need to do is move at angles and use basic techniques cause that is all you will be able to remember in a real fight when you got the adrenaline pumping in your veins :P i mean joint manipulation is great but basic ones could be used much more effectively.. so why have all of the flashy things???
thank-you :D that's why i personally like how the Okinawans fought... they we similar to the Chinese but fought for protection so they fought to Mame with basic things :D
The high kicks should be to finish an opponent off after they got tore up with their hands. I agree with your comment. If they knew how to use their kicks they would throw spinning kicks and leave their back wide open to an opponent. In a street fight I would use my boxing more than anything to set up the other things. Seems like that would make more sense to me, I don't know. A lot of these guys got good skills and flexible too. Might work in the ring but not on the street .
another bunch of bs their no way u can make ppl fly like that... how do i know because i fight an aikido fighter before. when i fought him he couldn't even toss me over like the video
Anyone else realize that the karate guy isn't wearing a Gi? But hes wearing the Aikido uniform? And... why isn't he setting up his kicks? using combination's? or anything? He's throwing one hit wonders... So yeah.. its easy to counter... Especially when its probably a demo too....
Nothing against the Gracies, but most real fights involve lots of douchebags beating one guy up. I know from experience. As you're applying arm bars and leg locks on one guy on the ground for 2 minutes, his buddies are kicking your skull in and your teeth out.
aikido is of course a martial art for one on one, but if you're fast enough (in aikido there's no sense to use too much strength) you can beat three or more enemies easily
I agree. Aikido is not just for show. It's to protect yourself from one or more attackers. Here's a fun fact... If you train hard and long enough, then you can pull off some of the techniques without even TOUCHING the opponent. I've seen it myself.
This is of course not to say that we would do this without proper reason, but it would change your mind about how a Peaceful form is superior to a Aggressive form. Which really, is true in a philosophical sense as well. Why be aggressive when peace can be more effective? "An eye for an eye makes the world blind." -Gandhi
Actually, I disagree with your statement that "They would be surprised at how easily it is to avoid, stop, redirect, disable, and snap their big bulging "Can-Weight-Lift-Twice-My-Body -Weight" arms in less then 2 seconds if we needed." It is not easy at all. And it is yet to be seen working against another martial artist in the ring/cage.
If you tell a Hindu after praising himself having killed a Muslim for India to raise the muslims children in a propper Muslim manner in love and regret for killing a human being (like he also said in later years) it would be okay for me because it would show, that you have improved in your live and have overcome dogmatism and racism (provoking ;o]).We all are not born as Saints and Gandhi didn't call himself a Saint.I appreciate human improvement.
so y dont u think this when somebody breaks into ur home and is raping ur wife u left wing jackoff. how would u use ur aikido then. its the art of pussies and people who wish to dream rather than live in the real world.
uke = punching bag . and if all you train on in your style is a punching bag you are gonna be in for a big bad surprise should you ever encounter the real thing.
Agreed. They would be surprised at how easily it is to avoid, stop, redirect, disable, and snap their big bulging "Can-Weight-Lift-Twice-My-Body-Weight" arms in less then 2 seconds if we needed. And for those reading, note that I said " -Under - 2 seconds". By this I mean as fast as you can throw a punch (average punch is less then half a second, but a block would stop it for.. maybe a second if done right) we can re-direct it and disable the arm that threw it for 6 weeks.
Why don't Aikido people really step up and challenge Karate, Kung Fu or whatever they want? All I've seen so far is Aikido demos mocking other martial arts and Aikidoka talking shit.
This is not fake, this is a regular akido demo, all the time try to say akido is not about winning combat, sorry bt hundreds yrs ago samurais arts is all about kill or die with honor,Ueshiba just took a litle part of this beautiful dedly arts, and make his own style, not about winning,,,come on,dont be fullish, sorry for my english, and by the way no akido master can stand aganst areal full contact karateka. OSU!
What a ridiculous demostration...that's for the and from the people who still live in denial thinking that Aikido is a fighting art...by the way Mr. Seagal style of Aikido is not traditional Aikido and what you see in movies is "mere cinema" his Aikido is his composite of Filipino arts, wing chung Kung fu and his background in other arts like Judo and some style of Karate.
You aren't talking to Aikido people with this comment. I believe his Aikido is Aikikai. People who train Aikido recognize when Seagal is using Aikido and when may be using something else that he cross trained in and/or "moviedo" A lot of Aikido can't be seen anyway, you have to feel it.
the evidence are in all of those videos, see "aikido vs kickboxing" and the coments will be like "that's not a real kickboxer" and something more...in no moment i insulted u with things like moron, little bitch or puta so...calm down with ur words cuz u're lookin' like a psycho
how did he know he was going to jump before he jumped? If some guy went to the ground like that when I was fighting him, I wouldn't jump kick over him, I'd boot him in the head.
i saw videos of aikido vs X and in the comments is the same shit;try with a real kickboxer, that's not a real karate teacher, that jiujitsu man is a n00b.
MAN!MAYBE THE AIKIDO IS 2 EFFECTIVE 4 THE OTHER MARTIAL ARTS SO EVERY MARTIAL ARTIST TEACHER LOOKS A LOOSER WITH ANY AIKIDO MAN AS OPPONENT!
that's the reason of why everyone like u think and wanna believe the other martial artist are n00bs,loosers,or fakers.
just cuz they can make kicks like bruce lee that doesn't mean they are best
hey therealcaz.. first of all, fuck yourself for being stupid and looking ignorant..and secondly, better your grammar in x language before posting it online
well, sorry if i'm not perfect with my grammar but is cuz english is not my natal language,if writing in other language is merit of insults, tell me cuz otherwise who's "being stupid and looking ignorant" is other.
i'm just giving my opinion in my comments.
if u can't respect someone's ideals u're not prepared for the world so kill yourself if you can't stand the opinion of others.
ok you moron... pay attention... i did not say you were stupid, though you are, because of your grammar...i said you're stupid and ignorant because you were discussing a topic you did not fully comprehend. ..ok? so stop whining... secondly, english is not my first language either..but you don't hear me complaining like a little bitch.. si prefieres hablar en otro idioma dime..puta.. and keep this in mind...anyone can have an opinion..but it means nothing if you cannot support it with evidence
yeah. Aikido practitioners post so many of these videos, but when are the Aikido masters going to start fighting real martial artists and then posting *those* videos?
For the past couple weeks I've been trying to study Aikido as much as possible, and what I've got the impression that 90% of aikidoka's are just guys who want to look how martial artists in the movies look, and play fun games where you "throw" each other around on mats.
There are exceptions. Steven Segal and his school are pretty serious, but I still think there is a lot of compliance in the throws. Its too bad because I think some of the wrist and arm locks could be used very effectively.
I agree. Seagal is truly excellent. He also has a decided size advantage which he knows how to use and a very bad-ass attitude. I studied Hopkido and was fortunate enough to have a skilled grappling partner who would not be thrown or twisted or locked unless I could actually do it. In other words, he completely resisted. I now appreciate that. I did learn some very essential techniques, and I also learned what didn't work so well. Overall good experience.
The Hapkido was taught to us as adjunct to Tae Kwan Do. It was only throws, joint locking for submission, control, and for breaking holds. I've never studied Aikido, though.
Then i guess the government agencies like FBI, CIA, local militia, police services and the armed forces don't need to learn martial arts because its a bunch of bull shit right? Thats why anyone who has ever taken martial arts classes just like to waste money right? Thats why grand masters who have been studying it for decades just like to waste time right. Your nuts man.
This is dumber than when wing chun guys defend against another wing chun guy doing a really incompetent takedown and call it "anti-grappling."

thank-you :D that's why i personally like how the Okinawans fought... they we similar to the Chinese but fought for protection so they fought to Mame with basic things :D
doomingdavid 3 years ago
The high kicks should be to finish an opponent off after they got tore up with their hands. I agree with your comment. If they knew how to use their kicks they would throw spinning kicks and leave their back wide open to an opponent. In a street fight I would use my boxing more than anything to set up the other things. Seems like that would make more sense to me, I don't know. A lot of these guys got good skills and flexible too. Might work in the ring but not on the street .
jodyjaywatson31 2 years ago
thats the point :D instead of using something flashy why not use a good atefa waza and finish them off with out much effort or danger
doomingdavid 2 years ago
another bunch of bs their no way u can make ppl fly like that... how do i know because i fight an aikido fighter before. when i fought him he couldn't even toss me over like the video

WOW!
Aikido rocks!
That's really impressive, sign me up.
All I have to do is join an Aikido school and I can start beating blackbelts too!
Right on!

You're right! This is obviously just an Aikido demonstration!

Anyone else realize that the karate guy isn't wearing a Gi? But hes wearing the Aikido uniform? And... why isn't he setting up his kicks? using combination's? or anything? He's throwing one hit wonders... So yeah.. its easy to counter... Especially when its probably a demo too....

looks more like a demo
tubbymura98 3 years ago
Nothing against the Gracies, but most real fights involve lots of douchebags beating one guy up. I know from experience. As you're applying arm bars and leg locks on one guy on the ground for 2 minutes, his buddies are kicking your skull in and your teeth out.
Spartacus217 3 years ago 2
aikido is of course a martial art for one on one, but if you're fast enough (in aikido there's no sense to use too much strength) you can beat three or more enemies easily
DaChris92 3 years ago
actually as you progress further, you're exepcted to be able to fight against 3-4 other ppl who are charging at you for your black belt test.
saungko 3 years ago
Good comment, most people forget that simple fact when talking about the american fighting leagues.
Thedreamshaperabc 3 years ago
I agree. Aikido is not just for show. It's to protect yourself from one or more attackers. Here's a fun fact... If you train hard and long enough, then you can pull off some of the techniques without even TOUCHING the opponent. I've seen it myself.
PixelParadox 3 years ago
This is of course not to say that we would do this without proper reason, but it would change your mind about how a Peaceful form is superior to a Aggressive form. Which really, is true in a philosophical sense as well. Why be aggressive when peace can be more effective? "An eye for an eye makes the world blind." -Gandhi
Claymann71 3 years ago
Actually, I disagree with your statement that "They would be surprised at how easily it is to avoid, stop, redirect, disable, and snap their big bulging "Can-Weight-Lift-Twice-My-Body -Weight" arms in less then 2 seconds if we needed." It is not easy at all. And it is yet to be seen working against another martial artist in the ring/cage.
Oh and BTW, Gandhi was a racist and a bigot.
Check it out: watch?v=V_P3_zv1_mI

I don't care what or who Ghandi was.The statement is great and if you can support a nation in a way he could manage than do it better than him.

I can write articles about black people being inferior just like he did. Is that good enough for you?
Hotora86 3 years ago
If you tell a Hindu after praising himself having killed a Muslim for India to raise the muslims children in a propper Muslim manner in love and regret for killing a human being (like he also said in later years) it would be okay for me because it would show, that you have improved in your live and have overcome dogmatism and racism (provoking ;o]).We all are not born as Saints and Gandhi didn't call himself a Saint.I appreciate human improvement.
agnostoatomo 3 years ago
He did. "Mahatma" means "saint". "Nigger hating saint" probably.

so y dont u think this when somebody breaks into ur home and is raping ur wife u left wing jackoff. how would u use ur aikido then. its the art of pussies and people who wish to dream rather than live in the real world.

Aikido is not about defeating the enemy
but rather to bring him to the point to give up his hostility
(O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba)
agnostoatomo 3 years ago 2
Most of the stuff concerning Aikido I see posted here on YT increases hostility towards it, instead of decreasing it.
Looks like somebody doesn't understand his own martial art.
Hotora86 3 years ago
Who cares what the little internet warriors have to say. Most couldn't last a minute in a fight.
Trashjack101 3 years ago
True. Awful lot of them in here though. :P
Hotora86 3 years ago
Claymann71 3 years ago
Please.
Why don't Aikido people really step up and challenge Karate, Kung Fu or whatever they want? All I've seen so far is Aikido demos mocking other martial arts and Aikidoka talking shit.
GROW SOME BALLS, AIKIDO PEOPLE!
Hotora86 3 years ago
Hotora86, where/when have you seen aikido people putting down other martial arts. Always seems to be the other way around.

That's a great way to continue mocking other arts without actually accepting a challenge. Good work.

Aikido is an amazing martial art, but this is a "KATA", obviously, like all the videos posted here.
I´ll really like to see a real fight

What a ridiculous demostration...that's for the and from the people who still live in denial thinking that Aikido is a fighting art...by the way Mr. Seagal style of Aikido is not traditional Aikido and what you see in movies is "mere cinema" his Aikido is his composite of Filipino arts, wing chung Kung fu and his background in other arts like Judo and some style of Karate.
Kokahara2007 3 years ago 5
You aren't talking to Aikido people with this comment. I believe his Aikido is Aikikai. People who train Aikido recognize when Seagal is using Aikido and when may be using something else that he cross trained in and/or "moviedo" A lot of Aikido can't be seen anyway, you have to feel it.
H4I2I2EE 3 years ago
this is not a real fight i think , its just a demostration. I Myself like Jju Jitsu very much.
Aikagirl001 3 years ago
the evidence are in all of those videos, see "aikido vs kickboxing" and the coments will be like "that's not a real kickboxer" and something more...in no moment i insulted u with things like moron, little bitch or puta so...calm down with ur words cuz u're lookin' like a psycho

how did he know he was going to jump before he jumped? If some guy went to the ground like that when I was fighting him, I wouldn't jump kick over him, I'd boot him in the head.

i saw videos of aikido vs X and in the comments is the same shit;try with a real kickboxer, that's not a real karate teacher, that jiujitsu man is a n00b.
MAN!MAYBE THE AIKIDO IS 2 EFFECTIVE 4 THE OTHER MARTIAL ARTS SO EVERY MARTIAL ARTIST TEACHER LOOKS A LOOSER WITH ANY AIKIDO MAN AS OPPONENT!
that's the reason of why everyone like u think and wanna believe the other martial artist are n00bs,loosers,or fakers.
just cuz they can make kicks like bruce lee that doesn't mean they are best
therealcaz 3 years ago
hey therealcaz.. first of all, fuck yourself for being stupid and looking ignorant..and secondly, better your grammar in x language before posting it online
Acrazedpyro 3 years ago
well, sorry if i'm not perfect with my grammar but is cuz english is not my natal language,if writing in other language is merit of insults, tell me cuz otherwise who's "being stupid and looking ignorant" is other.
i'm just giving my opinion in my comments.
if u can't respect someone's ideals u're not prepared for the world so kill yourself if you can't stand the opinion of others.
therealcaz 3 years ago
oh!and don't try to response to this comment cuz i have better things to do and i will not response.
therealcaz 3 years ago
ok you moron... pay attention... i did not say you were stupid, though you are, because of your grammar...i said you're stupid and ignorant because you were discussing a topic you did not fully comprehend. ..ok? so stop whining... secondly, english is not my first language either..but you don't hear me complaining like a little bitch.. si prefieres hablar en otro idioma dime..puta.. and keep this in mind...anyone can have an opinion..but it means nothing if you cannot support it with evidence
Acrazedpyro 3 years ago 2
more fake shit
d27joker 3 years ago
yeah. Aikido practitioners post so many of these videos, but when are the Aikido masters going to start fighting real martial artists and then posting *those* videos?
inthefade 3 years ago
When hell freezes over. Why get disproven in the ring when you can post cool/fake videos and make lots of money training suburban kids in the Dojo?
entity3sf 3 years ago
For the past couple weeks I've been trying to study Aikido as much as possible, and what I've got the impression that 90% of aikidoka's are just guys who want to look how martial artists in the movies look, and play fun games where you "throw" each other around on mats.
There are exceptions. Steven Segal and his school are pretty serious, but I still think there is a lot of compliance in the throws. Its too bad because I think some of the wrist and arm locks could be used very effectively.
inthefade 3 years ago
Overall good experience.
entity3sf 3 years ago
And thats funny because aikido is supposed to neutralize size, but it definitely doesn't.
As I understand it Hapkido is a lot more rough than Aikido, no? And more dynamic too.
Is there any striking in Hapkido?
inthefade 3 years ago
The Hapkido was taught to us as adjunct to Tae Kwan Do. It was only throws, joint locking for submission, control, and for breaking holds. I've never studied Aikido, though.
entity3sf 3 years ago
Karate ? where? Stupid pansies beleaving every noob movie they see I can pick a pansie on the street kick his ass and say "Karate Vs Aikido"
tznecromunda 3 years ago
Then i guess the government agencies like FBI, CIA, local militia, police services and the armed forces don't need to learn martial arts because its a bunch of bull shit right? Thats why anyone who has ever taken martial arts classes just like to waste money right? Thats why grand masters who have been studying it for decades just like to waste time right. Your nuts man.
Blarson11 3 years ago 2
The Aikido master kicked the shit out of the karate dude.
Blarson11 3 years ago
Nonsense - choreographed BS. If you really think that crap would work in a live situation -- you've been watching too many Seagal movies.
