Sad to see people ripping on Rickey for not being a speech professor. That was a moving speech. He is oneof the best of all time. Possibly the best baseball player we've witnessed since 1980. Impressive how he mentioned great non-HOFers like Don Mattingly and Dave Stewart. He put the stamp mentioning Jackin Robinson first, followed by Babe Ruth in his list of greats. He knows who the all-time legends are, and Rickey is one of the best among them.

Rickey made the game of baseball more exciting. The opposing teams couldn't let him get on base, because he would be so disruptive and he'd have stolen second and third base. And the opposing teams would mostly be unable to stop him, even on pick off attempts.

I just got back from the A's vs. Tor game, August 1st. Rickey's # 24 was retired and it was a great event. Most people commenting here say that Rickey seems uneducated, but it's not true. In baseball, he was the equal of Einstien, a genius. He just has a hard time expressing himself, mainly due to shyness. He and his family were great today at his #24 retirement, and it's a day I'll never forget, along with the memories of Rickey on the base path's..thank you Rickey.....run Rickey run!!!!
