I went here in 1995 for 6 months for depression..I was on the 3rd floor and I was only 15 and 15 years later I still remember this place..I remember going to the elevator to go to the second floor for school..the basement was like a little gym at the time.
i heard about a thomas cooper english the 6th used to be locked up in the new western state hospital! he is related to the thomas cooper english , known as thomas english cpt. he died in the year 1879 . although been said that the son the 6th was born on june 6, 1906 when his mother gave birth to him while she went on with her life after his father thomas english cpt. died.....he now shows up on the 3rd floor of the old asylum its not there anymore though but he you can see him at night....
i explored dejarnettes many times between 2005 and 2008. there is only one stairway that will take you to the attic which is nothing but wide open and a dirt floor.it is the stairway on the right side of the building when looking at the front of it. the other stairway takes you right below the attic. and the only way to get into the basement is the door on the outside by the old basketball court.it is told that the basement is the most haunted part of dejarnettes.
I live in Staunton, Va. And I have also been in the building that is boarded up. I went in to the one with the huge stairs in the back, theres a little door open near the stairs, and the gate around the stairs, we cut through. You can get all the way upstaris in that building except the attic. We plan to go again and try.
I was only on the bottom floor because. I was to freaked out....(and on drugs) to go any farther so I stayed outside. Its not that hard to get it. Message me for more info(:
@JHunterKeeler This is the DeJarnette Building at the old Western State Hospital in Staunton. Are you thinking of the DeJarnette Center near the Frontier Culture Museum? And if so, were you able to get inside there? Because when I scoped out the property, there were no open entries (all windows and doors had been boarded up securely).
I read DeJarnette is being made into condos..That is bullshit to all the souls lost there
