We had her spayed, but she was a jumper and jumped our fence and got killed by a passing truck. I just have the black faced girl and since I live in Mexico, I named her Negra - almost all black dogs around here have that name. She's 3 years old now - born Sept. 11th, 2007.

There are so many crappy "pure-bred" dogs out here right now of so many breeds that it is better to visit an animal shelter if you just want a loving pet. I am NOT telling people to avoid pure-bred dogs only to know who the breeder is, the bloodlines of the dog you are buying, and if there is anything in the genetic background of those lines that might possess a problem. KNOW the breed standard and ASK questions. Your dog will be a loving family member, don't get your heart broken.

As a general rule rottweilers should not be bred until at least 2 years of age (which is required to certify them free of HD). Dogs that are out of standard should not be bred period.

Someone asked me about breeding the black faced gitl we kept, Negra, here in Mexico with her - most loving, gentle, beautiful, intelligent rottie daddy - I say - well, just this once and then I'll get the poor baby fixed - she's a year and a half now and they have been best friends and serious lovers a couple times so far and she has not gotten pregnant, so we'll see what happens next season.

The vets at Bites and Scratches in Rosarito are very knowledgeable and very inexpensive compared to vet costs in the US. I don't remember what it cost me, but I know it was less than $20 per puppy for the exam, the puppy shots and worming.

The faced ones are mixed breeded which are usually the best type of dog. Although there are some exceptions. My dog was supposed to be 100% rottie DOG. We when we got him, he thought he was human (and only 2 weeks old lol). So we had to deal with it. But he bred with a another rottie and his 3 puppies were pure non human doggie puppies =)

hileryo: A blue Healer is NOT basically the same breed as the Australian Shepherd. Whoever told you that is relating the two different breeds just because there are some coat and color variations that are similar in both dogs. Just Google BLUE HEALER check out the pics Then Google AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD You'll see they ARE two rather different breeds. I can tell your female is prolly a Rott/Healer mix. More than being mixed with the Aussie. Sweet Puppies~ :)

You're right. The father, Oso, is a wonderful, gentle purebred Rottie. Sally, the mother, is 1/16 Blue Healer, which I'm told is like an Australian Shepard, and 15/16 Rottweiler. The puppies all looked like the mom, with more narrow noses. Still beautiful dogs.
