You can grab them from the bottom, the spines containing the poison lie along the dorsal ridge. They don't flop around much when you grab them either, so it can be pretty safe. Still, no way in hell I would touch one of those for less than $50.
The same applies to lionfish. A dive instructor held one in his hand while we were diving off Mayotte, Comore Islands. Still I wouldn't recommend doing so.
believe it or not their stings arent leathal at all, all you need is a bucket of hot water to decompose the venom. Not sure if its still stings afterwords though lol.
