You can tell me it's "wrong", but I don't think there's necessarily a right answer to lyrics' meaning. Because the girl still loves the guy but is telling him to move on quickly right now when she's alone, she won't get angry at him...I think it's romantic but sad to think of it as though the girl is dead or is about to die (ie, "even when the end comes"). also, she uses present tense, but then as though she remembers (that she's dead), she switches to past tense (ie, "that's what I wished").
