  • is that a black mamba ?

  • i thought snakes dont eat dead animals, thought they kill it first

  • Oh yeah, and nice snake. King snakes are pretty likely to eat other snakes, which could themselves have eaten another snake... Xzibit would love that.

  • It's only in rare cases that a snake won't eat dead mice, even in the wild (if it's fresh) but for the love of god don't feed a captive bred snake a wild mouse, dead or no, it could have all sorts of crap in/on it so why take the risk? Theres a reason a snake will live for 20 years in captivity but only 10 in the wild...

  • glossy snake. but ewww. why would i want to keep this as a pet? u guys are creepy!

  • such a beautiful snake wow..

  • Is that a black king snake? :D Beautiful snake you have there!

  • Is that a black king snake? :D Beautiful snake you have there!

  • What kind of snake is that

  • did find that on the street or is one our pet mouse(ice) died

  • fastess feed ever!!

  • Judging by your name i thought you'd know a bit about snakes

"Dedicated to all those YouTube dimwits who post videos of their snakes killing live prey, claiming that "snakes don't eat DEAD animals!"

but if you did.. then you WOULD know that some DO NOT eat dead food

ide be right if i said "you only own one snake" and because he eats dead mice that means EVERY other snake in this world eats dead too

you sir know nothing about snakes

  • @TedWinni very, very well put. i myself am currently breeding and raising 10 snakes at the moment and 3 of them WILL NOT eat F/T food. wont even give it a thought. It used to be 4 of them, but by,what i can only describe as a miracle, one of my baby BPs finally decided that it likes F/T rats!

  • @TedWinni You are totally right about that but to be fair they shouldn't post videos of them killing live prey on youtube. Yeah, some snakes do eat live mice but we don't all need to see it. My little cousin wanted a snake so she searched up some videos about them on youtube, and it scarred her for life seeing them eat live mice.

  • hey dude do u have to give your snake dead mice / rats whatever, from their first meal to get them used to it ? :P

  • i woud love to put my discostick in that troat

  • I've never heard of a snake eating something it found dead...not saying it can't happen..just saying I've never heard of it..but for those who wants to bad mouth people who feed their snakes live food..watch animal planet and tell me if you see any of the snakes on there go for a dead animal..its a part of life to kill to eat..all 8 of my snakes get live food..if somebody wants to feed his/her snake a dead mouse/rat then fine..but remember it was ALIVE at some point in time and had to be killed

  • @Genobreaker25

Yes, snakes do eat dead things if they can. It's called scavenging. all predators scavenge I believe. But still, the animal feels pain but it is fairly quick and i do not understand why people thinks its cruel to feed live things but it isnt right to feed live food all the time

  • @WingedJuggernaut

Yea I know what scavenging is and the only snakes that I read or heard about eating carrion are anaconda and that's a RARE occasion. Other snake may eat something that hasn't been dead long but something that's been rotting for awhile wont be touched.

Far as feeding them live all the time...I see nothing wrong with it. I don't do it to watch the mouse or rat struggle or anything. I do it cause its nature and that's what snakes in the while eat.

  • @Genobreaker25

    Wild* not while

  • @Genobreaker25

I didn't really know if all snakes scavenged and i meant that snakes do not eat things that are deteriorating. It isn't nature because they rat cannot escape and is trapped and can't do nothing other than be eaten. But this isn't the wild, the snake is in captivity. I actually don't think it is cruel to live feed but it shouldn't be done all the time

  • @Genobreaker25 have you never been to a pet store ??? they usually have a whole freezer full of dead mice and rats to feed to snakes.

  • @SuperMelodylover its genobreaker25...had to make another account cause I cant get in my other one. Anyway...yea I have been to a pet store...my gf works at a petco actually. They also have tanks full of live mice and rats for snakes too. Not all snakes will eat frozen. Our green tree python will not eat anything frozen...it has to be live.

  • it takes my snake at a day till she eats livee prey how would this work for her?

  • Just like a Girl Getting a Deep Throat !

  • I feed mine live food, but the reason why people choose dead food is simple. Obviously, it protects the snake, plus, it maintains the snakes tameness. Live food tends to make the snake more aggressive.

  • If snakes eat live food in nature you should feed them live food in captivity. You shouldn't keep a snake from its roots.

  • Feeding thawed frozen prey to snakes is much safer for them both in terms of reducing the risk of parasites and injury to the snake. We make a lot of adjustments for all animals in captivity that might not replicate nature exactly but help improve the health of the animal. I don't feed my dog live rabbits even though his wild predecessors killed and ate live prey, but no one would accuse me of not taking care of him properly because of that.

  • Thank you.

In the wild, prey have a fighting chance to live whereas in those stupid videos, the prey is trapped and has no chance whatsoever.

  • Furthermore the prey can injure the snake and can be tainted food.

Besides there is nothing wrong with trying to prevent suffering for all.

  • Snakes also eat dead food in nature.

  • Also, we feed our dogs, fish, cats, and ferrets dead food. Why are snakes special?

  • @Billzonker then don't keep in a cage. If they're not in cage in the wild, then you shouldn't lock them up. you shouldn't keep a snake from it's roots. DUH!!!! its not a wild snake if it's in a cage so it shouldn't be treated like one. wild dogs kill live prey but i bet you'd feed yours from a can.

  • Boooooring. i like the ones where they feed them live mouse.. and to those who think this is wrong.. and blah blah.. put a sock on it! and do a lil thinking! this is nature ''food chain'' they have to eat something! weather the mouse is dead or alive dont matter, that mouse gonna die neways and uess what? there is no mouse heaven .. so dont get all worked up about a mouse's life.. when being fed to a snake..

  • Why don't you do a little thinking, or some research. Maybe then you would realize that people that feed their snakes killed prey are doing it for their snakes benefit, not the mouse's. Live prey can fight back and seriously injure a snake if the snake fails to grab it properly the first time, plus freezing kills any parasites that the prey might be carrying.

  • @lola26granola People also do it because of the cruelty factor. They don't want to see a little firry animal terrorised, and squealing in pain as it is struck and eaten alive. If you think it's *only* just for the snake, you are kidding yourself.

  • @MarkPalantos i never said it was the only reason people use dead prey. My priority is the snake, after all, if it was the mouse I wouldn't have a snake in the first place since either way the mouse is dying. I don't think it is wrong to kill animals for the purpose of feeding ourselves or pets. I personally have killed and butchered animals. I believe that it can and should be done as humanely as possible and in no way find it entertaining.

  • @leolon4 = moron. i can't seriously believe you posted that. what's more i can't believe you think it was worth posting. if you actually thought you were making a valid point, instead of meaningless drivel, then you are seriously disappointing as a member of the human race.

  • its easy to feed kingsnake with DEAD mouse.. but a burmese python is so hard :S i got both snakes

  • beautiful snake, and I think it's great that you put up this video.

  • people that state snakes do not hve emotions most likely are cold hearted bastards themselves

  • read the title you wanker

  • you forgot one step... "pull back hammer, PLACE GUN TO HEAD, fire! snake fed"

  • What is it doing when it squishes it's head together is it just biting or is it Venomous? Just wondering I'm not gonna go look it up..

  • Black Kingsnakes aren't venomous. It's simply biting it to start eating.

  • poor rat!!

  • not all carnivores will eat dead food, this is natural because dead food in the wild is usually dead for a good reason, maybe died of an illness that the carnivore could catch as well...

props if your snake eats dead mice, keep feeding it dead ones

  • Do snakes realize, "hey, thats my owner, i won'y eat him, do they be freidns with u

  • no snakes are completely emotionless and cold blooded.

  • snakes have emotions dumbass!

  • Do they fuck!!!!

  • black king snake

  • cool stuff

  • nice, i just bought a mexican king snake a week ago, i just feed mine a hopper, i thought it was to big but man it ate, its so cool, your snake has a really nice skin, i like your alot to

  • what kind of snake is that???

  • BLACK KINGSNAKE.

  • BLACK RAT SNAKE!!!!

  • pretty snake

  • That's kinda cool(8

a mouse that big can fit into that slim snake.

Nature can really do it's wonders.

  • people write oh i would kill u or i would kill this snake why than u go on " How To Feed A Snake A DEAD Mouse " all snakes i think are so cool

  • dey cannot choke

  • cant they use utensils? , or they just cant choke?

  • How unrealistic to a wild snakes life,

a snake is a wild animal,

it has a right to kill its prey.

Livee Food All The Way Babyyy!

  • well its not really prey if you lower the mouse down to its cage, its just a meal.

  • great to finally see on youtube someone useing pre killed rodents, i use the same method it works a treat, i have a 7 ft boa and from a foot long she has eaten pre killed prey great job with the the video.

  • what kind of snake?

  • why? would you kill every meat eater in the world, including lions, sharks, wolves bears tigers etc

  • i would kill that snake!

  • I would kill you.

    Idiot.

  • lmao

  • lol aawsum

    Idiot.

  • Wow!

  • if a snake is raised from birth on pre killed it will happily eat pre killed but may or may not eat live, if it is raised on live it probably wud only accept live but is a chance it will accept pre killed if its hunger is really pushed to the limit, theres that old saying - if ur desperatley starving u will eat anything lol,

  • Lol, Deep throat XD

  • why doesnt my python eat dead snakes?i tries wat u dead i even slowly hit himwith the mouse it still doesnt eat?

  • lol deap throat

  • lol any slower?

  • lol I feed all my corns (6 +5 babies) live it is better for their nutrition! and my snakes are way faster! But I really love your snake!

  • There is no nutritional difference between feeding live and pre-killed, and it is in fact more dangerous to feed live because they could a. attack the snake, b. carry ticks and mites which also may carry harmful bacteria and viruses.

  • is that it

  • not all snakes eat dead....my boa refuses to eat dead and i have tried every trick there is including braining

  • Make sure it's warm, if it's a first time, do it after a shed. Even giving it a warm bath right after the shed to jumpstart its metab. I've gotten boas from kenyans to columbians to dumerils to eat pre-killed just fine.

  • nice snake its freaky watching it oing down

  • are king snakes aggressive, and what kind is that?

  • what species of snake is it?

  • i belive its a king snake

  • thanx

  • Er, who says snakes can't eat dead prey? Anyone who watched a snake eats its prey knows that it isn't true. After all, the snakes kill the prey by constriction or venom before eating it, so they are essentially eating dead prey. Most people says that they feed their snakes live prey either because they want to or because their snake prefers it. I've never heard anyone says it's because they can't eat dead prey.

  • my snake prefers eating live. i tried getting it to feed on prekilled mice but it refuses...

  • That's a really nice snake! Shiny and strong.

  • that snake is beautiful

  • its not a good idea to keep the sanke out after feedin it might poop everywhere and it aint pretty

  • Yup...Keep the food dead, the snake outta its cage..and thats how you keep a snake a pet. I cant wait to get my Ball Python:)

  • well, live feeding is bad only because of the danger it can pose to the snake. The feeder can try to defend itself, or in otherways hurt the snake. as to the species... looks like your common black King Snake. Very beautiful. Thanks for the vid, and let me know if I'm wrong on the species?

  • Beautiful snake, btw. Perhaps it's a black rat snake?

  • What species of snake is that?

  • pfft, i feed my boa live baby chicks every two weeks from that nest in my window.

  • Nicely done, you're a rational owner. :)

  • WOOT GO SNAKES!!!!

  • u sick mofo dont show tht shit u see where it cant gt its mouth round the paws

  • that snake could have eaten twice that size, keep your ignorant comments to yourself. I hate the whole "I'm better than all these youtube shitheads" attitude. if you had any experience feeding snakes you'd know that was a very safe and even conservative meal, so back off.

  • The maker of this video is to be commended. There is nothing worse than those who thrive on witnessing a snake kill its live prey and making a video to show this to the world...........

  • I don't see why that's such a bad thing. It's the natural way of things. Do you also look down on those who watch nature documentaries showing lions taking down zebras?

  • i feed my python prekilled or frozen mice, but i don't honesty see what is so wrong about live-feeding. as long as your careful, the snake will not get injured.

  • OK, for all of you people that are going 'Iz He POIZONUZ!?!?!?!??':

    1. No snake is poisonous. They are, however, venomous.

    2. It's a Kingsnake, it's not Venemous.

Cute guy, though. Thank god for someone feding f/t...

  • Lovely snake, and good on you for feeding F/T.

My Royal has only ever had F/T and her longest fast was 3 weeks, so it can be done. But as with people each snake is different.

  • Try feeding a royal python dead - mine didn't eat for 18 months, then I started on live (only eats white male for some reason)

  • Cute snakie! I find feeding snakie easier when I use large (blunt) tweezers and waving it in from of his nose because snakie thinks its a live rat. I also like to do a pretend struggle with snakie because it works up his appetite.

  • NICE SNAKE!!

  • this is a mexican kingsnake.... they are totally black

  • AMEN TO THIS VIDEO!

I'm glad someone feeds their pet snake a dead snack for a change!

  • Lot's of us do now and we buy them from petshops who kill the rats humanely.

  • i used to feed my boa dead mice but he stopped eating them!! so i fed her live and that worked for her. besides...live is more fun to watch(not that im a sicko) i think its cool seeing a snake eat.

  • it will only try and eat you if you put youre hand infront of it or touch it's head but when a black king bites you it's gonna make you draw blood not like a corn.

  • that's a beutiful king. I look after one like that at school no probs. feddin dead mice. It's definatly a black king. Consider using tweesers, you don't have to drop the mouse you just wave the mouse with the tweesers by it's tail then it will just jump for it. We hold are king at school all the time and it's fine you don't need gloves

  • I feed my snake dead mice, no probs...

  • aesome! Is that an indigo snake or a lampropeltis nigra?

  • Hi, I've always assumed that he's just a black kingsnake (lampropeltis nigra) but I know they are usually yellow underneath but this snake is totally black. I must admit he does look a bit indigo in part 2 of this video! Maybe someone else knows??

  • Whatever he is he is beautiful. I used to hate snakes and was totally petrified of them but now Im an experienced handler.

  • Beautiful snake... does he never constrict his prey?

  • Thanks for your comment. No, he never constricts. I haven't had him since a baby but he has probably never had to kill a mouse. Unfortunately, he bites people too so I have to wear leather gloves to pick him up!

  • is he poisonous cuz i cant tell

  • Even these little fellas hurt like hell when they stick their little razors into you! lol
