@riotinthecity It's called a Shining Wizard because when he had created it, the Great Muta persona (and mask) had been retired, NWO Japan and its successors had run their course, so he was at a career crossroads. So, he did what we all do when that happens. Namely, he shaved his head and became "The Cross Wizard Keiji Mutoh." And the name stuck.
@Shiranui1979 yeah he first used the move in europe, he said in an interview that while he was traveling in europe the wrestlers were getting up slow, and he got fed up and made the shining wizard
Kawada took it like a man

Really is the original Shining Wizard. The only one who does it almost as good is Yoshi Tatsu. But I love how Muta just hit's it out of anywhere.

doesn't john morrison have some lame version of this now?
WrestlingFanCritic 1 year ago
@WrestlingFanCritic Morrison doesn't step on the knee, therefore it's not a Shining Wizard

Gregory Helms would be proud
BeMizFit 1 year ago
@BeMizFit And why? Keiji made the move. Helms just did an Enzugiri it was never the Shining Wizard.

john morrison used a shining wizard on sitting opponent and the announcers call it a knee strike

Why is it called the shining wizard? I really don't get it.

Kinda looks like poop... sorry... I love the guy as much as anyone, but this doesn't do justice to his ability

often imatated, never duplicated. Muta's shining wizard is always number 1
HCErik 2 years ago 24
@HCErik No it's not. He's one of the more inconsistent users of it, despite being the innovator.

Was that the first time that Mutoh used the Shining Wizard?
Shiranui1979 4 years ago
No it was just the version he did when he first used the move.
Joenage17 4 years ago
Whats awesome is how later on he added his own style to a move he fucking invented. I think that's genius.
