  • Guys we have a build thread going on rcg on this one, lookup HSW starmax f14 extreme setup.

    Happy buildn and flyn ...DJ

  • Hi Cap

Sure glad you liked it and good luck with your F-14 thanks for commenting..Tim

  • great informative vid , got my F-14 coming later this week will be making the mods youve set out in the vid , excellent :o)

  • elevons not tailerons

  • @lbart2005 Check out Wikipedia F-14 ...Per Grumman ] a light, rigid and strong . Ailerons are not fitted, with roll control being provided by wing mounted spoilers at low speed (which are disabled if the sweep angle exceeds 57°), and by differential operation of the all-moving tailerons at high speed

  • @TinkerManRC Your absolutely correct. My appologies.

  • @lbart2005 No worries thanks for commenting and take care out there...LOL

  • beautiful plane. love what you've done to it, i've seen some of your later vids too.

here's a question tho, i've heard tons of bad things about banana hobby, but i saw their mig-29 12 channel with thrust vectoring and was thinkin about purchasing their airframe only and going with my own electronics. what are your thoughts?

  • @Munky332 thanks for the comment, Well have not seen the Mig 29 yet will have to look but it sounds like a great idea..

  • where did you bought this model?

  • @housing666 Banana dot com

  • Hi tinkermanRC i got one question to ask you can you please tell me the name of the where you taken out the origional one from the air retracts and install the bicycle standrad thing can you tell me what was that ?? and where can i get it thx mate

  • @shengyao2007

Great question and I would be glad to. The Fill valve is a Robart Fill Valve Part # 168 and you will need the Air Pump that goes with the valve P/N 164G. Go to Rogart, com and look under Air Systems the go to accessories and you will find it and can order it. Once you see it you could check with your local hobby store good luck and thanks for the kind words my friend.. Tim

  • How dose the tom cat do against rat birds and shit hawks? LOL!

  • do u really need the servos on the wings to fly this plane because i seen a guy on youtube flying his f-14 with no servos on the wing will that mass up the plane

  • Great Question,

No you don't need the servos in the wings if you mix the tailorons correctly but you can run them if you'd like. I will be setting this up soon stay tuned and thanks for the comment.

  • Nice F-14 Tinker...could you tell me who makes this kit?

  • blitx works rc makes it, from banana hobby

  • starmax-rc. goggle them you may be able to get a better price the the other guys.. good luck..

  • Thanx...I was Iffy about buying anything from banana hobby with all the negative reviews on here & RCUniverse.

  • I know what you mean, I had to do alot of work and if I had to do it all over again I would get the bare airfame kit. If I do get another model from them its only going to be a bare airframe kit. good luck with your choices

  • would u mind telling me what landing gear setup u ended up using?

  • Sure :)

I used a metal rod the same thickness as original, fit it down in the retract hole, and then cut it to length. After that I purchased a axle extensions that slide on the rod and set them in place with an Allen screw. You can get them at your local hobby story. Also in the build video I show this. Good luck and thanks for commenting.

  • Nice work!! I always wanted a Tomcat...Want size fan units are you using? they look like 70mm.

  • Hey Thanks, I'm usung 65 mm thanks for commenting..TIm

  • just wanted to ask what new motors did you put in it? i got it for Christmas and im really bummed that it probably wont fly w my 4 cell battery without burnin up something :) great videos by the way, thanx a bunch

  • @leadabetterlife Well I installed 2 E-flite 64mm 480's 4800KV run on 3 cells. Well you can fly it but your flight time will be about 3 min Max.. Thamks for the cool comment and if I can help just let me know..Tim

  • An other great Video, see you soon

  • Good info. Are you going to put De-Icers on it? LOL

  • Of course you would get a digital bicycle pump...very nice man. Hey quick question, is it easy to fly with Mittens on??

  • LOL No.

  • Cool cant wait till the flight, can you retract the wings in flight?

  • Ok so on your model when the wings are retracted do the ailerons still work effectively? I have not started the build yet. Would you recommend just going with Tailerons? Thanks

    Tom

  • Tom

With the wings reteacted you do want to fly her on the tailerons if you have a transmitter and receiver that will let you do all the mixes. Good Luck.

  • Great vid. I have one of these, you did a really good job on this one. Are you planning on putting spoilers on the wings? Great tip and history about the real Tomcat.
