Thank you for actual music done with granular synthesis and not "audio art" done with granular synthesis. This has rhythm and pitch, as in order. Other video's I've seen were just straight looped grains. Painful.
If I understand right, the reason for the "digital" beat is that the entire song is done with granular synthesis, and each beat pulse is actually a burst of grains of some other sound that originally may not even have been percussive originally. To over-simplify a little bit, imagine taking a sculpture, grinding it into very small bits, and making another sculpture out of them. The second sculpture may have close to the same texture or color as the original, but it's now a different sculpture.
