Example: Asians are bad drivers - on any given day you might see 10 Asians driving fine, but as soon as you see a bad Asian driver you remember it. When somebody later suggests 'oh Asians are bad drivers' you think back to a memory which conforms it - surprisingly you don't remember the 10 instances of good Asian driving you saw that day :D

Also, I wanted to add my response to the first question, "What does it mean to be Asian-American?" To me, being ABC makes me stuck in between to remarkable countries/cultures, never fully fitting in in either one. There aren't many Asians where I live (only Chinese in my grade) so, I don't have many friends that can truly relate to me. Then when I visit Hong Kong, the locals can tell that I'm a foreigner just by a glance. It sucks. But don't get me wrong; I love both cultures with all my heart!
What about 'all Asians look alike'? Lol, I'm a proud ABC myself, but I've found myself mistaking one Asian for another countless times. I also always have trouble identifying the type of Asian one might be! ...But..I pretty much naturally defy many of the stereotypes.. I can't use chopsticks efficiently, I'm terrible at math (seriously. I have trouble COUNTING past 25) and music, I don't like the taste of plain rice, etc, etc.
2D animated entertainment and possibly gaming enjoyment in terms of challenge and gameplay old school-style where games were really difficult like Defender, Donkey Kong, Missile Command, albeit technology sucked but the actual experience exceeds that of maybe? today? Love Gears of War Graphics but 3D Wolfenstein was the original. I guess this lazy (me) Asian guy needs to invent the Holodeck and Holograms The Doctor from Star Trek Voyager anybody!!
I'm am proud to be Asian but I see so many great things in other races in ways they handle themselves White ppl. tend to be great inventors and excel in commerce and Black ppl. tend to be Wonderful Singers and Dancers. True in each of the different races are characteristics and expectations and traditions which make up culture. I really loved watching Saturday morning cartoons and playing video-games but as i got older I noticed kids these days aren't getting quality

I don't know if i'm considered asian, i'm full Filipino so I guess I'm Pacific Islander or SouthEast Asian. i don't know why just because i'm Filipino I should play basketball, have to be Catholic (no offense, fellow Filipinos) I feel ALL religions are valid when properly exercised. My point is no matter what race we're all individuals, great vid wish we all had intergalactic space travel not a movie SEGA rules dude! not ALL asians are cool

Honestly, I think the reason why many Asian-American stereotypes came about because some not-so-bright kids in America were looking for people to make fun of and were jealous of the typically (not always) brighter Asian and decided to make jokes, bully them, etc.
