I've seen the music video to this once. My mom told me that my grandpa (her dad) dropped out of school in the 6th grade and went to Oklahoma to pick cotton (that would've been about 1948).

The South, who had ruled Presidency for years, could not handle both legislative and executive pressure on slavery. They practically gave up, screwing over half the country in the process. Lincoln, who did not believe in racial equality and would never had freed the slaves did so to end the South - a society based slavery.

Let me explain the Confederate flag like this: It's not Southerners saying that slavery is okay or that they're okay with racism, it's saying that we believe in our freedom (Civil war was over states' rights, folks.) and our ability to fight for that freedom. Not sure what's going on with all the racist comments, but I'm an African American female and I LOVE LOVE Country music as well as Down Home Blues! I also live in the south (Louisiana) and I know that racism is alive and well no matter how successful or poor you are. Skin color still makes some feel superior and others feel inferior. Nevertheless, the only race that matters to GOD is the HUMAN RACE! I believe the world would be a better place if more people realized this simple fact!
