I had a military macaw like that. I raised him from a chick and had him for 16 wonderfull years. But then, he was stolen from us :( I still get teary eyed whenever I see parrots.
Military Macaw's are so awesome. Intelligent and resourceful and they have a quirky sense of humor. I have one myself and have had him for 5 years, got him when he was only 6 months old and I love him to death.
lol! oh my gosh, what a cutie! What a beautiful feathered friend you have! He (she?) is obviously very loved!
As a fellow bird lover, I appreciate seeing a happy, well cared for bird having a good time! thanks for being a good owner and sharing your happy little friend!
OMG!! Too cute! That birdy is wacked XD My cockatiel gets angry if I try to get her to be on her back.. I'm trying to teach her to be okay with it but.. >.>
They will only be on their back if they are totally chilled out and know there is absolutely no danger around, as being on their back is their most vulnerable position.
I rescued one in the Amazon. I was passing by a little general store and a little girl was chasing a Blue and Gold trying to hurt it. The owner said he didn't know what to do so he sold her to me. Thanks to smugglers I had to leave her behind but I found her a great home. It broke my heart to leave her and I haven't had one since. But I adore them, thank you for the video.
That is darn cute! How on earth did you get him to play on the floor like that! My Scarlet will play on the floor but only with me and not by herself! How old?
esp with birds! though all animals need love and attention, of course, birds will actually hurt THEMSELVES if they are neglected. I have had all different types of animals (dogs, birds, horses, rabbits, snakes, name it!) and by far the most difficult, and rewarding, have been my baby birds. Another point for future owners... they live a LOOOONG time. I got my first bird when I was 5... I'm now 20 and he is still around, and he will be for a while yet.
I agree with everyone else - in fact DON'T buy or adopt ANY living creature unless you plan to keep it, love it, care for it and - essentially, treat it like a family member for its entire life - since your family is now the only family your loving pet has!
And let's face it - human beings are probably not capable of experiencing and demonstrating the unconditional love and affection our pets show us!
I have 14 parrots, 5 are macaws. Most of my parrots have been "thrown away" by their old owners. This video shows how wonderfully playful they can be. I have a 6 month old Military Macaw named Sailor. She loves being on her back to play as well. Wonderful, truly, wonderful!
Not sure. All of our birds are rescue of one kind or another. I think mated macaw pairs go for $2500 -- so maybe a single one would be around $1000. Personally, I think it's horrible to be buying & selling animals.
@imarkmeanings Unfortunatly, a Military is about 650 weaned from a breeder, from a "hand feeder" (sales person other than breeder) expect to pay around 1000. I love these birds, I think you should have to take a class and have to get a license after the class to have one. I have a severe, an african grey and a vasa.
Lol comical that made me laugh, i have cockatiels but id love to have a macaw too one day, what others do u have? i like the b&g's and green wings and the catalina's seem a bit nutty lol
He is doing some serious Macaw Calistenics there!! LOL. I have a passion for parrots and it makes me so happy to see them in a good home with owners who understand them. I wish you all a happy, healthy, long life together!
Yep -- and he'd stare right back! He's a great bird, but because of the abuse he recieved, he's nearly impossible to get near. Plus, just like all our birds, he's a talker. He'll sit and mumble most of the day. Or he screams a very shrill, nasty, scream. Trying to locate others in his flock, I guess.
Incredable. They are an attractive bird also. I do enjoy the Queen music. I do enjoy Queen. Takes me back to my youth when they where hot and going strong.
Like most of our pets, he was a rescue. Smuggled into the USA in a paper towel roll, and then "lost" for 18 months in quarentine. We've had him about two years. He's still pretty young -- about 4 years old. He'll live to 75.
A pet for life. Well I have been watching some of your past videos. Not all of them yet. From the ones I have watched you have a real passion for the natural things life has to offer. You have great rappour with animals, pets, birds etc. etc... That is an even more special gift, that not just anyone are blessed to have.
1:45 it was cute, it was tring to puke, my bird did that all the time on my bed... its sick but its was just her tring to feed me or something....

Looks like he's doing a yoga...
But even just a small bite from a cat can kill a bird as there are germs in the cat saliva that are toxic to birds..

animals are NOT "goods" or things you "buy".
they are family members, equvalents of people!!

Yes -- and one of my goals is to have all of this align with a means of making a living at the same time. I'm almost there, but still a way to go...
imarkmeanings 4 years ago
That is really something. I have never seen a bird behave that way before. And your cat just wonders by barely taking notice.
dontheman17 4 years ago
ALL our cats know to keep their distance from Magic (and all our birds). The birds teach the cats very well.
imarkmeanings 4 years ago
That beak, BTW, is strong enough to break your arm. You should see what he (and our other birds) do with 2x4's.
