  • three words ..... this is awesome!

  • Mrs Coulter wasn't supposed to tell Lyra she & Lord Asriel were her parents, John Faa did. This movie is SO off. I hope that someone remakes it even if it's a 2 and half hour film. They should do what they're doing with Harry Potter 7, making it into two parts.

  • tatar.............good sauce yeah and how did Rogers parents reach the spot without any bridge, forget it .....what about Iuric, how did he reached there.

  • tatar.............good sauce yeah

  • I FORGOT THAT BIG TWIST IN THE BOOK!

  • Why do they make all the tartars have wolves? Wolves aren't evil for gods sakes! They're really beautiful creatures! Oh well, I love Northern Lights anyway - but this film... killed it slightly :/ Where is the bit when she goes and get's the Severed Kid's daemon spirits?

  • @WolvesLink1395 the bet where she goes to get the kids daemon's is a deleted scene on the DVD

  • @WolvesLink1395 So are the bears, but they're also mercenaries in the book. Wolves do what's good for the pack, and the Magisterium offered them the best deal.

  • @Eldritchfan very true heh - I guess you're right :P Plus I guess the wolves have to protect their humans

  • @WolvesLink1395 I'll agree with you there, wolves arnt evil, there misunderstood.

  • Mrs. Coulter didn't tell Lyra who her parents were Lord Faa did

  • whitch? more like elves

  • NO ROGER, GO HOMMMEEE!!

  • I don't get it. Why are the Russians always the bad guys? It hurts to see so many Hollywood movies with us as the villans.

  • @DashaPx3

Me too, in american films the english are the bad guys.

    -.-'

  • @DashaPx3 Yeah! What's up with that! I'm not Russian, but I totally agree!

  • I like how Mrs. Coulter says "You are mine" instead of the easier choice of "I am your mother!". If she'd clenched her fist whilst saying it I would've LOLLED!

  • A Dragon soul...that woulda been something!

  • I,ll give you a answer to 3:26.

    1.They are not Russian

2.There are Tatarian and they spoke Russian in Middleage.

Well, who is thinking, that they are Russian,he should piss off.

  • @gametyp900... whatever those Russian speaking Tartan's would have gather up all those pagan whiches, giptians and would of burned them. they would of also have eaten that bear

  • The book series was and epic masterpiece beyond words!!! His Dark Materials is sort of like my version of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings and has that status in my mythology. I know its a bummer we don't get more films of this epic story but they'll make another adaption in the future. Keep reading His Dark Materials and be like Lyra and Will and fight the evils of Finatical Religion, keeping in mind of course that people have the right to be religious but not dangerously religious.

  • sweet explosion of the machine...haha feisty lil girl eh? SMALL CHILD STAMPEEEEDDDD i also luv the fire explosion when the daemon dies

  • sweet explosion of the machine...haha feisty lil girl eh? SMALL CHILD STAMPEEEEDDDD

  • sweet explosion of the machine...haha feisty lil girl eh?

  • Epic final battle,I loved it.

  • it pains me to see so many differences in the movie compared to the book.

  • i love this scene with the battle, i think the ending was disappointing, and i really wanted a sequel to this,

  • Epic final battle

  • Why are wolves always the bad guys? :(

  • haha, seeing Ms. Coulter get all excited over the 'compass' made me laugh

  • i love it when she throughs that thing into the machine and blows it up :D

  • For a family movie, the main character is a real brat.

  • @JasonQuahWL there's a lot of things making this a pretty weird movie for kids... like the hidden politic and the brutal fighting. I've never seen any other children's movie where polarbears rips eachother to pieces :P

  • Lyra's mom is a cutter :)

  • Lyra, I am your mother.... NOOOOOOOOO!!

  • 1:25 her fingers! :AA

  • "Ma Costa never told you about your mother." "She told me enough she told me you killed her."

"No Lyra, I am your mother."

  • dunno if anyone else thinks this, but i would happily make that monkey into a handbag, and not lose a wink of sleep over it......creepy lil fcuk!

  • great movie

love Nicole she is one of my favorite actresses

  • ok thanks i get it now, and i just finished reading the 1st book but to me it seems that her dad is worse then her mother with the things he's also doing even though it doesn't involve separating children from their demons

  • The witches remind me of cupid, with their little bows and arrows and all. :)

  • the witches were supposed to have broomsticks... dam director...

  • thats their style!!!!!

    bugo jud!!!!

  • @deaglePwnz thats not true... witches are appeared with many things... i think its better like this because it is another point of view

  • I was like "Lyra you idiot, you're so gullible!" and then I laughed my head off at how cunning she was with the spy-fly.

  • so ein scheiß, be mir ist youtube so lahm...kann den film nicht gescheit schauen, da ich ständig auf diesen blöden roten streifen warten muss... ahrrrr

  • i wish Mrs.Coulter was my mother god its not fair i wish she wasn't her mom, but what i don't get is did lyra know she was her mother and if so then why did she not just give her the alietheometer?????

  • @merylfan1 No, Lyra had no Idea Mrs. Coulter was her mother and she didn't give her the alietheometer because her mother was doing terrible things!

  • um im tatar and we can speak russian wtf lol

  • LO AT 7:15 xD *CRASH* DAAAAH!!!

  • Luke... ;-)

  • 7:55

this what happens when u mess with ma costa

  • i cant believe i'm getting this movie for free

  • how did she know what buttons to push ???

  • she didn't know. that's why she pushed all of them.

  • wow, somehow, i saw this coming. they do kidna resemble each other. but still, i dont like that lady....

  • Lol

at 4:19, I was like "Oh snap. Iorek Byrnison's about to fuck shit up."

  • y does the bad ppl have to be Russians?

  • @MujahidsFoldedWings

Well, they can't always be Germans ;-)

  • @Stachelschwein1975

    or Israelis ;)

  • Hmmm, at 1:55, looks like she's a chip off the old block.

  • You are not my mother! i will not rule the universe with you!

Come to the dark side, eh!

  • @zisguy hahaha your funny... :)

  • yor really funny

  • @zisguy i dunno, ms Coulter doesn't seem like a cookie person...

  • @zisguy sure ill join you

  • Hahahaha

  • it's clear: russians, inuit, doctors and clergymen are EVIL!

  • wasnt jahn fa meant to have a hammer or war axe.

changes for the movie Ok but thats just sloppy

  • where r the demons in the lunch room

  • I don't mind changes in the movie, but it still saddens me that they didn't add the part with Serefina's Deamon and Lyra freeing all the kids deamons. That was a powerful scene, I thought.

  • yup. orange particles=dust

  • The orange particles are dust, right?

  • In the book, John Faa was the one telling Lyra about Lord Asriel and Mrs Coulter being her parents, not Mrs Coulter. This film is totally different and not as interesting compared to the book.

  • Dude, YES!

  • dude this movie is so crappy compaired to the book its annoys me...

  • it's a good movie for us dyslexias...

  • 5:07 is AWESOME!!!

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, i want one of those witches for me! *.*

  • ignore error "Billy's"

  • in the book the gyptians told her that lord a and ms.c was her father and mother

  • ha that battle was epic!

  • i LOVE this part of the movie!

  • i actually really like the witches XD

  • this is like star wars when luke found out that darth vadar was his dad

  • Billy dies actually. Right after he reunites with his family.

  • does billy ever get his ratter back i haven't read the books yet

  • You're gonna be in for a big shock at how much different the book is. Whoever the screenwriter for this was fucked up big time.

I'll let you in on something. Billy isn't the one who they found in the shed. It was Tony Makarios.

  • Billy Costa doesn't lose his daemon in the novel. It was a kid named Tony Markarios who Lyra found in the village. I don't know why they made Billy lose his daemon when he lived and was reunited with his family, daemon intact. Also, Billy'd daemon isn't Ratter.

  • i think billy did lose his daemon but ur rght, his isnt called ratter

  • No, he didn't lose his daemon, but after he was reunited with his family, they were attacked. But not like the scene in the movie. It's when Lyra just freed the kids.

  • really? wow ill have to re read it. the thing that annoys me most about this film is the fact that roger is still alive at the end. because doesnt roger's ghost play a really big part in the amber spyglass?

  • The ending to The Golden Compass was going to be the beginning for The Subtle Knife, but because the movie was a flop in America, I guess we'll never know. I'm just about to start The Amber Spyglass but I think you're right about Roger's ghost.

  • holy shit this movie's too awesome!

  • that's true daveyowhat!!! u are so right!!

  • i love it

  • thanx for uploading the actress who plays lyra is is a really good actress.

  • Even though she's evil, it's so tense in sensing what's about to happen. And, the truth of it just sucks. I mean... for Lyra to finally meet her mother, but her mother turns out to be... not what she would have hoped for.

  • ............... I can't believe you just compared The Lord of the Rings to fucking Narnia. Try to murder my soul with your nonsense, why don't you? Ugh.

  • Of course people should compare it. They were written by two authors who were best friends and had the same beliefs. They sometimes even nicked small ideas from each other and moulded it into their own. Look at Gandalf and Aslan - that's the most obvious one. Another very subtle one is the land of Etinsmoor in Narnia and the land of Etinmoors in Middle Earth.

  • I agree!

  • so why are u posting this when the movies early over?

  • JEAH the Final battle is Great i love it...

I love the flashy entrance of the witches ^^

  • love the war

  • nice One mOre tO gO

  • its a nice movie hehehe

  • was she supposed to give her the golden compass at the beginning or something?? and is she really her mother?

  • u nutter course she's the mother but she's evil u r soo thick how do u manage through school?............. oh thats right u can't

  • wow, i guess dust isn't just dust ... phew!

  • lol

  • did anyone notice that after mrs coulter is attacked by the spyfly we can't see her face ? (i bet she's got a pretty nasty scar there)

  • Why do all the bad guys have wolf daemons?

  • couse they represent the character of theire owner, like guardians have dogs and liars have snakes as deamons (sry for bad english)

  • not all of them, just the tartar regiment.

  • beacuse of pop cultures protrayal of wolves being evil creatures, but I know better than that, how about you????!!!

  • I think that in the book at least, he gave them all wolf daemons because wolves are loyal creatures who are good and brave fighters, just like soldiers should be

  • Wolves are loyal to whom?

  • To the other wolves in their pack

  • their loyal to their humans, their deamon's

  • no dogs are the most loyal creatures and lions too but if you keep them from litle

  • 4:18 PAW!! :()

  • LUKE, I AM YOUR FATHER!

  • they can talk , remember on 2/11 u can see the snowleopard talking to Lord Asriel and that was his deamon

  • 5:05 so damn cool!

  • ajah... and the bear was hidding were? in her buttock?

  • IS SHE REALLY HER MOM???????

  • Nope. Not in real life.

But in the movie, yeah. :)

  • yes she is her mum

  • In the movie only, though.

  • oh right sorry i miss read i thought you said that she was only her mum in the film i didnt realise you ment real life.

    my bad

  • It's okki. :)

  • roger should have went with the gyptians the next movie roger won't be in the movie real long its sad :'(

  • no, its not! In the 3rd book, he makes Lyra dream with him so that she can almost kill herself to TRY to help him just becuse she was feeling guilty!

  • witches kick your ASS!!! XDhahahah

  • lol she throws the "toaster" into the seperation chamber and it blows up

  • I'm sure Nicole Kidman had some surgery on her upper lip. It wasn't that thick when she was a no-name star many years before.

  • did you see the polar bears jaw come off

  • GO POLAR BEAR!!!!!! gotta love this film

  • 1 shot frm an arrow n they DIE?? dang!!!

  • They're aiming at their daemons, which in this story's universe are people's souls. Hence the small explosions.

  • LOL some of the arrow actually hit the person then their daemons went POOF!! haha

  • is this from a children's novel? isn't there too much violence for that? hahaha.. I LOVE IT ANYWAYS!!!!

  • Emmm...nooo, I wouldn't say the His Dark Materials trilogy are CHILDRENS novels at all really.

  • I read them. Not at all. I was twelve and I hardly got it but I was fascinated!

  • DUDE! When I watch the children escape and the gaurds tell them not to let them escape...just kinda reminds me of consitration camps... :/

  • Its kinda the same in alot of ways

  • serafina and lord asril both play in casino royal...both great actors...and their both in two great movies

  • Why doesn't Ms. Coulters daemon talk?

  • It does but only to mrs coulter I would imagine, secretive and devious just like her.

  • Adults deamons can't talk, they've settled, meaning no speaking and unlike child deamons they can't shape shift either.

  • adult daemons can talk...

  • They talk. Lord Asriel's daemon, Stellamaria talked around the beginning of this movie.

  • Yeah, I realized it after I posted, haha my bad.

  • they even changed the name...... and its like so many things changed from the books...

  • the movie is good...but the kid's acting is soo exagerated

  • CHARGE!

the other guys are like holy shit wth do they keep coming from"

  • At least it was an epic battle ... ah, I still liked to movies, though I liked the books better.

Isn't it nice to see how most people that saw the movie, have also read the books. It's quite the opposite when it comes to harry potter :p

  • Hahah yeahh!

i saw that too. she said, she never wanted to be an actress. shw just wanted to play Lyra.

i thin k it would be awesome to have a daemon. wonder what mine would be?? haha

  • why they do the second and third books?? i hope they would!! otherwise the story wont finish!

  • they're going to.

  • sooooooooo. . . how do the mothers give birth to Daemons?

  • i think the daemons appear like they disappear when people die.

  • ooooohhhhhh thx!

  • i really like narnia.narnia and golden compass are very similar.

  • No they aren't. They differ in many ways. For one, Aslan in Narnia is very good, but Iorek is much more savage. And Narnia does not have bear fights or daemons or anything of the sort.
