I've been trying to track this album down for years (since this ad came out) - I always kept it in the back of my mind and just now decided to search "Hooverphonic car ad" and this came up, so I just bought it on Amazon.

Lesson to musicians: never give up - it can take a long-ass time from the moment someone first hears you to the moment they buy your music. Persistence is key.

I remember seeing a vapor RIGHT when they came out. Never saw one again in nine years until last week I saw one of the highway. I followed it, in all of its mesmerizing glory.

Sorry for the double post, I forgot to mention what I loved so much about this commercial. The reflective perspective of car with the antenna off-center. The images, then the rain (nice touch), and of course, the music along with perfect lyrics just crystallizes this into immortal greatness.

A great commercial goes well beyond what is being advertized.

Thank you very much for this upload (man, youtube is awesome). This commercial stuck with me when I first heard it when I was a late teen. Got me hooked, and I still love this song today. One of the best commercials ever.

Man, how times have changed since then. It's like this song reminisces of "back then".

Great song. I was walking through Virgin one day and just happened to glance at a CD that said "and the Song 'Renaissance Affair' featured in the VW Vapor Commercial" I practically ran to the register. Felt so lucky to have found it! Was total chance.

I wanted a new VW Beetle so badly when this commercial was on TV. I loved the pale blue "Vapor" color. I finally got my "dream car" a little over a year ago. I have a champagne-y bronze colored one. Another beautiful uncommon New Beetle color. I love my Beetle and I love this song by Hooverphonic! Love the band too! :-)

This commercial had me searching for the artist of this song for years - I finally found out about Hooverphonic after watching the cell phone commercial that featured "This Strange Affect" and researching that. It's now one of the favorite bands.

one of my favorite tunes from this band, and the commercial did bring in a larger audience BUT they sold their tunes to pitch products almost as quickly as Moby (not an easy feat to accomplish).
