I'm a meteorologist so I love clouds. But I'm scared of heights so I never fly. So the only time I get to see clouds from above is from videos like this. Beautiful, thanks!
@cannuck1 If u are a meteorologist, then please can you tell me that why don't the cloud form in desert of saudiarabia... even if its a mountanius place with high temperature sometimes crossing over 50 degree celcius.. I never get it. People say that cumulonimbus incus forms due to high temperature, but here the cumulus cloud barly forms.. and whenever it forms, its usually in the evening and goes down after sunset.. and they are not that high...... Can you make it clear where is most updrafts?
@anasbinqamar I'm not too familiar with the climate in the Middle East. I think that you can probably chalk the lack of massive cumulonimbus clouds up to either a lack of moisture or a prevailing pattern aloft, like a temperature inversion, that basically puts a cap on top of any major updrafts. You can see in this video how the cloud spreads out at the top due to a similar capping action. You might have updrafts, but they probably can't get high enough to saturate or form clouds like this :)

it has a very nice overshooting top indicating this storm is a supercell and possibly producing a tornado.

Iv`e seen one that went far up to 15.000m. That was over south France in the summer and we passed it smoothly on an A 310.
That was an expirience i`d never want to miss again.

Oleg250 4 years ago
The lightning was most likely in-cloud and occuring under the main cloud in the foreground.
