  • Don't give up u can sing in your mind and in your heart don't worry about it i love your voice but i am not give up to heard your voice personal. my real name is Kim Santos i am Filipino! I LOVE U don't give up God Bless

  • oh my god. i can't believe to this why did this happen? don't worry be happy god give that wonderful voice to you but he can take it again

  • I love her voice!

  • I recognize that song at 3:14! Grounds Keeper Willie sang a parody of it on The Simpsons!!!

  • whoever disliked this could go die

  • when was this?

  • Barbara Walters sounds a little like Angela Lansbury

  • Lol at the description: Prepare some tissues, or at least yourself.

It makes me so sad to think that this beautiful voice I grew up listening to and I still love no longer exists.

  • As a result of her performance in Mary Poppins, Andrews won the 1964 Academy Award for Best Actress and the 1965 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. As a measure of "sweet revenge," as Poppins songwriter Richard M. Sherman put it, Andrews closed her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes by saying, "And, finally, my thanks to a man who made a wonderful movie and who made all this possible in the first place, Mr. Jack Warner

  • Walt Disney had seen a performance of Camelot and thought Andrews would be perfect for the role of the British nanny who is "practically perfect in every way!" Andrews initially declined because of pregnancy, but Disney politely insisted, saying, "We'll wait for you".[27]

  • However movie studio head Jack Warner decided Andrews lacked sufficient name recognition for her casting in the film version of My Fair Lady; Eliza was played by the established film actress Audrey Hepburn instead. As Warner later recalled, the decision was easy, "In my business I have to know who brings people and their money to a movie theatre box office. Audrey Hepburn had never made a financial flop."

  • Academy Award. Sorry for the mistake below....

  • Lets all smile for Julie Andrews, who wasn't cast in "My Fair Lady" on the Big Screen (Audrey Hepburn was, considered as {more photogenic}... pppfffttt...) yet it was Ms. Andrews who took the Oscar in '64... Take THAT! ;)

  • To put it in as little words as possible

    Julie <3 <3 Baba Wawa </3

  • Barbara is such a cunt, and Julie keeps it classy and put together

  • Comment removed

  • That Walters witch wantd to break Julie into crying, how did she gt such a high profile role in amrican television? Sh's a hrtales tactless bitch

  • there really is something special in her voice that is capable of brigthening up someone even when she's just talking. She's one of a kind!

  • OMG Julie is the most amazing person everrrrr! Celebrities nowadays pale in huge comparison to her! They are NOTHING compared to this biggest legend ever! Wow go Julie Andrews!!! <3

  • Did Barbara (whom I personally can't stand btw) ACTUALLY just say that "Mary Poppins was a CONSOLATION prize for not getting cast in My Fair Lady" ??!! It wasn't... Walt Disney thought she was the PERFECT Mary Poppins, so much so, that when Julie declined the offer for the role, due to pregnancy, Walt actually said "We'll wait for you" ..Consolation prize..I think not

  • Mary Poppins was NOT a consultation prize to losing out in My Fair Lady. Walt had given her the role because he thought she was perfect to portray her, not because he felt sorry for her. And she won the academy award and the Oscar fair for her talent.

  • Im so proud to be british with talent like Julie around. <3

  • If doctors destroyed such a god given gift, who could possibly return this gift back to julie??? Even if she will be able to sing again or not, she will always be one of the top voices ever!!!! What she has given to us so far is priceless!!!

  • @gekost79 oh shut the fuck up with this god given shit. She has a pretty voice. Given to her by her parents.

  • @XforeverlongingX No comment!!!!

  • @gekost79 Go fuck yourself you Jesus touting freak

  • Barbara has no sensitivity or tact ....Then there is Julie who is so very classy and above her in everyway ...What a knockout Julie still is, she takes my breath away..xo

  • If you listen carefully the years of singing have crippled Julie's vocals almost sounds like a long term smoker compared to barbara. But yes she is better looking and has a great accent.

  • I agree Barbara really wasn't very tactful at several points. Especially when she goes "it's still a wonderful voice, was wonderful voice..." How completely insensitive!

  • i know right! julies wonderful

  • @reallove488

i was just about to say that

she's being such a bitch. thats the only word i can think of. i mean, the woman probably already had a melt down, and now you need to keep reminding her and pointing it out?

    barbara... behave yourself.

  • That's the whole point of the interview is to talk about it.

  • that one part was very awkward!

  • i keep thinking that barbara walters is an ugly bitch!!! and julie andrews is the most beautiful talented and incredible woman on earth!

  • awesome thanks for posting!

  • she has a amazing voice

  • i´m sooo glad she got her voice back!!! when i first heard her sing "your crowning glory" in "the princess´ diaries 2" it brought tears to my eyes! i love you, julie!!!

  • i know me too is my favorite part of the princess diaries 2 i hope garry marshall make the 3 part and julie sings again! that would be perfect!

  • I admire julie andrews and her voice is one of the most beautiful in the world. it's so awful that something could happen to her angel like voice.

  • The only thing I can think right now is "what a bitch!". I don't mean to offend those who like Barbara in any way, this is my personal oppinion, but I'm sorry, what she said on 2:07 was completely uncalled for, I mean, this is the kinda thing you'd say only if you wanted to hurt someone else....i kno she didn't lie, but she didn't need to do that.

  • @tmcmp she merely reitearated (with some surprise) what Julie had said: "it Was".

  • Delicious?! Wow Julie A ndrews the dirty dog. I bloody love her. I cant believe she got herself turned on in a love scene. Wish alot of other actors would be as honest as julie.

  • when I was 8 yrs old, one night, I was at my cousin home..havin a sleepover..and after we watched cartoon, around 8 pm..Just before dnner..I heard about Julie and her voice...I cried my heart of..and ddn't eat for 2 days..Too depressed..I'm now 18and I remeber that night like it was yesterday-JULIE I LOVE YOU

  • delicious? lol naughty julie!

  • this show just destroyed me..........booohooooo......oh my god i can't belive it was last year

  • This wasnt last year it must have been around 1999 because the film with James Garner was released in 1999.

  • it was 1997-1999. not sure which, but it started in 1995 or 1997 and this was 2 years later...so ya. she is getting much better and singing low notes wonderfully again.

  • I love Julie! She is the most amazing actress and singer ever! And I completely agree with Fatelliyo and FilmPoems! She is fantastic and is so brave to have carried on with her career after losing the thing she loved doing the most! Love her! x

  • this is sooooooo sad it makes me cry

  • I don't think Walters understands that Julie Andrews is Very,Very Beloved by at least 3gererations, that grew up with a strong love for Mary poppins & Maria Von Trapp, We hated when Walters made Julie cry. It's like seeing someone hurt our MOM!!!!

  • you put it right, AT LEAST 3 an more to come. Like after this I wanted to hurt the doctors and Walters. Like I am still crying. But like the in The Sound of Music...God Opens a Window

  • @xenafan234 -The most truth-filled comment I've seen all day. :)

  • @Classic1940s Walters is clueless, recently Jule was on the View to promote Shreck and Help for Haiti and Walters asked her Again, if she was over being able to sing? WTF? I wonder if Walters has a grudge against Julie. It's Mean to keep bringing it up year after year. Does Julie Have to Issue a press release?

"I Dame Julie Andrews am Over being devastated that I can no longer sing!" "Please Buy All my Books and See All My Movies, Thank You"

  • @xenafan234 Yes, it really is a shame that our beloved Julie has to be so blatantly, and repeatedly, faced with what is obviously a very painful situation for her. I only wish that people like Barbara Walters would be more considerate of the 'victims', if you will, of her various interviews-- Julie, especially.

  • @Classic1940s agreed!

  • goose bumbs...

i am so grateful for what Julie has given to us..all those movies and songs <3...!!!

  • This segment pisses me off just a tiny bit. It makes it seem like all the films roles and etc. that Julie got were all just because of her voice. But she has many talents besides her singing!

  • The scene from 5:56-6:00! LOL!

  • hell she did fine w/o a good education

  • Did you see that woman's face when Julie said yes her marriage is very healthy? She blatantly didn't believe it. I bet she reads the tabloids under a hairdryer. I hate the way everyone thinks famous people have to have difficult marriages.

  • oh God this makes me want to cry!

  • i'm crying hugs to julie i luv her :D xx

  • What the hell is her buissness if julie didn't go to college?

  • Babara Walters is a wicked witch!

  • I HATE that Evil and very sly Interviewer but the amazing Julie Andrews hit her down each and every time!!!!!! Us engish are very good at that as so am I !!!

  • WE english.

  • I love Julie, but i don't think that Julie liked this woman interviewer.

  • well, before they both made this interview, Julie had to agree, so i think she knew that it would be not this kind of "Oh. i loved you in SOM" interview, I hated Barbara Walters when i saw this interview first time, but as I was wathcing it again, i realised that it's her job, and i'm 100 % sure that Julie known what this interview would be about. she agreed on that.

  • @JoolkaJF Barbara is real hit and miss as far as likability goes. Maybe it goes with the territory. Most reporters and interviewers are grating and have odd fake tones that they learn in journalism school. Listen to newscasters and reporters and documentary narrators and you'll see an unreality that's downright bizarre.

  • Julie Andrews is such a figure. She inspires tendernes, respect and happiness...

  • its the worst ever thing that could of happened to our julie it really is, if it had happened to a (NON SINGER)it wouldent of mattered I suppose! she was VERY VERY brave to of spoken about it and I admire her for doing new things such as childrens books and directing for the theatre!!! God bless you Jules!!!

  • Thank goodness she didn't lose her voice when she was younger!!!!!!!!

  • do you have the walters interview available on CD?

  • HEY ! tomorrow its her anniversary of 10 years without her voice !!! :'( june 19

  • Sniffle...

  • When I was young I wished Julie was my nannie

  • What an optimist!!!She is such a strong person, after her greatest treasure was taken away! Its ever so sad!Yet I am so proud of her! Thanks for sharing this marvelous video!!!!

  • I loved that little clip of Rosie O'Donnell. Didn't we all want Julie Andrews for our mother, grandmother, governess, or nanny?

  • that's nice ...

  • thanks for this, off to watch part 2 !

  • did you see the look on her face! she so wanted to cry !! Its so sad !!

  • Thank you!

  • Yhank you for sharing an exellent interview
