  • Awe man, the original members need to come together for a reunion. Their seperate bands are not cutting it!

  • WORD UP! I learned everything I know about song-writing from that man. Superdopalicously HOTT. GO BILLY! Tha's my fam right there.

  • YOUNGSTOWN,OHIO

  • Damn, the original group need to reunite...seriously.

  • This dude is soooooo bad, he's not only singing lead vocals, but he's playing this electric piano parts and the horn parts at the same time...Do any of you know how difficult it is to pull this off?...

  • billy beck was one bad ass keyboardist. his work on the song " skin tight " was out of sight.

  • that is billy beck he still sounds good and looks well keep up the great work billy beck loveya still and the band

  • this is dope, just wonderig what hes using a casio for lol? Was that what they used on the original? Sounding kinda wimpy in this video.

  • @jgk381 agree

  • Man y'all gettin' it in on this. Is that David Paige on the drums?

  • Hi Billy this is Jessica. Tried to catch you last summer at the B& O railroad, wanted to talk to you. Talked with your mom though. Look me up on face book. Love your God sis.

  • "Do we get paid for this - I wanna know..."

  • NECK-SNAPPING!!!!

  • i's nic got ot figuresd out on the bass

  • He Does a Good Junie on the Vocals ..hehe

  • @Invisoclam exactly! so true!

  • dammmm gud...am only 22 but love these funks

  • Oohh! Billy is almost doin the stanky legg at the start! He is def a funk pioneer!

  • Beck is a LEGEND

  • does anyone know how to play that unique part on the piano? anyone got the sheet for that

  • nice sharp suit

  • great fucking shit.

  • Fred is layin in that pocket nastily!

  • granny sounds like a crackhead when she says like nine cans of "shavin powder"

  • Thats some tight cold blooded funk. You have to start from The Soul and then it infects your spine and goes straight to the head.

  • go billy beck xD

  • cammon granny funk it:D!!!

  • yeeahhhhhh funky worm

  • Billy Beck!!

  • like nine cans of shaving powder, that's funky!

    pretty good i might add

  • OHMYGOODNESS!!!

  • @poromise, I think it's "9 cents of shaving powder"

Is Billy Beck in the Ohio Players that Sugarfoot is touring with? He should be.

  • well, i still don't get it. but its funky anyway, who cares

  • 9 cans of shaving powder I believe.

  • funky!:X

  • Another great funker-meister!You can't forget Billy Beck of the Ohio players!

  • Boldsoulsister, thanks for responding. I will forward this info to our IT Professional and let you know if if can be corrected.

  • I'm so sad! I went to the site and registered but the clips are as Mac unfriendly as can be :(

  • The brotha's singin',playing the horn parts & the keyboard parts at the same time. To me this is why funk bands started out big 7 to maybe 12 players & over time got smaller. Everyone was so talented & with so many members they couldn't express their self fully. Plus eveybody wanted his musical touch l on the album, which leads to problems. & bands this size had to be expensive. So everyone wanted to leave & do his own thing.

  • well, im pretty sure thats why theres no more bands but as many say, many songs today don't have the same magic that the music from the bands had because every member of the band put their own sound and touch into the song, bringing all the sounds together made the song so good and magical, where as today, like, to me, everythang sounds the exact same if it's from the same artist. im not very into all this solo shit goin on today that these new guys doin, in my opinion r&b was way better 50s-80s

  • thats bad asss! real funky shizzzle!

  • outstanding

  • Billy Beck is a bad MF!!!

  • funkadelic baby

  • nice cover

  • i need the keyboard notes for funky worm !

  • sick video

  • Billy is a baaaaaaaad moth'a!!! Keep the funk alive bro!

  • coooooooooool

  • AWESOME !!!!!

  • what the funky synth's name????

  • Billy, Take em to SCHOOL!!! one of The Baddest keyboards in funk. Bernie Worrell of Parliament is the king. Billy is right along side with him along with Stevie, Billy Preston, Winston Stewart of the Bad Bar-Kays, and Herbie

  • He is the coldest ever to touch the keys. Of course I'm biased....I'm his babygirl.

  • As far as I'm concerned..Billy Beck is a musical magician. He makes those keys talk, sing, or whatever else he wants them to do. There will never be another like him, EVER. Of course I'm biased...I'm his babygirl.

  • no your not

  • :) Funny

  • thats right

  • the video is what the world needs

  • ffffffffffffffffffffunky! this shit defnly TIGHT!!!

  • fantastique

  • u fool. this 1 iz t-i-g-h-t. if u look, he's showing u how they possibly did it back then. know your lessons. LEARN!!!!!!!!!

  • @orlanduce: MUCH RESPECT!!!!

  • Billy Beck is the reason the Ohio Players got noticed in the beginning of their career. If anyone can find Pain by the Ohio Players check that out.Billy Beck keep funk alive!!!

  • Wasn't he the youngest one in the group too?

I want to say he was like 17 when he joined while the rest were in the twenties and thirties.

  • You ll need to go to Funk school.Billy was never on the PAIN lp. He was never on any of the Westbound lps. That was Junie Morrison.Billy first lp with OP was SKIN TIGHT from the Mercury label.OP moved from Westbound to Mercury and Junie stayed with Westbound and recorded a few solo lps

  • Morrison joint George Clinton's group

  • Dopealicious

  • "OUT OF SIGHT"

  • got any love rollercoaster song ?

  • "don't stop now honey, get down"

why did you stop "honey"???? at best part!!!!

  • i like billy beck :D

  • its awsome...but surley cant beat the moog synth

  • Just like i love larry graham's bass and vocal funk skills , this dude here blows me away with his keyboard skills . listen to them horn on the keys , Damn !

  • un maestro, esta ancion la conoci por mi juego faorito el san andreas

  • Did he do the voices on the first recording back in the day . anybody know ?

  • Probably. He, Diamond and Sugarfoot took turns on lead vocals on various songs back during their heyday. I think Funky Worm was a song he brought to the band.

  • Cathridge , why did they ways part with junie ? He had a super cool vocal style , but i like sugarfoot also ,I

  • Don't know. He did very well on his own though. I think he did stuff with the P-Funk camp as well.

  • Nope. Junie did Funky Worm. Billy wasn't even with the OP back then. He and Diamond made their debutin '74 on the Skin Tight lp, 2 yrs later. Thats when OP left Westbound for Mercury

  • This is so very funky.....

Billy Beck show why the O P ers. Put together everybody alive, that can still play. Everybody that is playing now can take up the slack.

I want to do a "Last Time Around With The Players." Ohio that is...

Call me! and we can be fair and make a difference.

Ohio Player's Have so much HISTORY.....

    A FAN, A PRO-DUCK = AFLAC..,

    YOU GUY'S ARE THE REAL....DEAL.........

    My name,

    Money Maker....

    Leave a response........

  • i'm sorry, Bernie Worrell is a complete genius & has innovated

the course of modern music. The others (save maybe for Stevie)cannot say that.

  • there aint many keyboardists like that anymore i mean playing the horn lines rhythm the meat of the song and singing? come on man thats funky! thank u billy beck! your contribution to the funk is priceless!

  • Much love to Fred Ervin (Bass) and Ray Brooks (guitar).

  • It's cool, but the synth brass sounds cheesy.

  • This was real tight, they jammed!

  • THANK YOU!!! I have been telling everybody about this song and NO body seems to remember it..This was the SHIT!!

  • still is init

  • Yeah!!!

    I love this song!!!

Didn't expect that all those voices were all his though.

  • I love this song! it was the first song to really get me into funk, before I realized I loved funk all along. Thank you Grand Theft Auto! But mainly, thank you Ohio Players. Ever since then its been a funk explosion for me, and I'm a much better musician because of it. Don't fight the feeling!

  • hahaha he sounds like eric cartman! lol

  • If you want to read a great book with a lot of disco nostalgia in it, check out the book Disco Hypnotic.

  • Awesome. Great tune. Too bad 90% of today's musicians have no clue how to play an instrument.

  • Wasn't Junie Morrison on this tune originally ?

  • yes junie morrison was in the originally, billy beck and junie voices of just alike, am surpriced the o p found a replacment with a voice so great.

  • almost on point, pretty damn good! One of the tightest ever.

  • that's pretty cool and it was a jam back in the day

  • oh..ok..Glad to hear that he is still with us and doing good.

  • thank you for the verification. i had heard that in florida, but when i went and asked she said it was frankie halfacre and that billy beck was at the funeral. i am from youngstown, and my aunt that works at Black's Funeral Home, Ms. Lawson is elderly and she gets things mixed up.

she tries to keep me up on things in youngstown.

    thank you so much

  • when did Billy Beck past?

  • WOA!WOA! FOLKS, Don't know who or what you've been listening to, but BILLY BECK IS ALIVE AND WELL. Also, The Whispers are not from OHIO.

  • WOA!WOA! FOLKS, Don't know who or what you've been listening to, but BILLY BECK IS ALIVE AND WELL. Also, The Whispers are not from OHIO.

  • i wasn't able to attend billy beck's funeral but i know many members of my family went. this is how i grew up. ohio players, ojays, whispers, roger, dazz band, sweet thunder, all the great ones came from ohio then. I miss that alot. but my band has the same Ohio nuances. i love that live band environment. go ray brooks. see what Teresa Berger from Hubbard, OH is doing in Florida.

    Love you guys

  • Satch and Pee Wee passed

  • Satch and Pee Wee passed.

  • i love this song thanks san andreas

  • don't forget he Junie Morrison, the original funky worm

  • aint this song on gta san andreas on bounce FM

  • yes it is.

  • I have been trying for years to get Keyboard Magazine to do something on Mr. Beck but to no avail. However, when I came across this show online I just had to order the dvd. I also purchased a book off ebay from one of the early days Ohio Players and enjoyed it very much, which I think Billy should do soon, I started out playing drums and this one little riff that he does on Skin Tight made me start playing keyboards, get this, at age 40. God Bless!!!!

  • Billy Beck is one of the most talented people on the Planet. I spent alot of time with him in the mid 90's and what you see on this video isn't anything compared to what I used to see him do on a daily.

  • fuck jeah reminds me of GTA san andreas ghahahaha!

  • from spain:the music of billy beck and ohio players it´s one of the reasons for love the life, thanks billy for share with us your feelings

  • haha great to find more funkpeople aound here!

yeah i love ohio players too! :)

  • This dude made me want to play keyboards too, this is a old school skating rink jam....

  • Billy is the reason I play keyboards today!

  • vdaddy7, Tell your best friend that he's kept quite a few guys I know VERY happy for over 30 yrs. You tell him we were weened on that Ohioan Funk.....and I'm out of State.

  • Looks like a wedding singer.

  • I love this song. It makes me laugh everytime I hear it. I like his tone of voice, funny lyrics, and funky beat that goes along with it. ''Funkier than 9 cans of shaving powder.' LOL.

VDADDY BILLY BECK YOUNGSTOWN OHIO PEACE

  • is it suppose to cut off before the last synth solo thing?

  • If you have the complete video of this, I would love to buy it. Billy Beck is amazing.

    REAL music.

  • Yes, Billy really is amazing, we love him.

  • Billy Beck is one bad man!!!

  • funky and soul thats what I'm talking about.

  • Tchalla, you hit it on the mark. Mr. Beck has ALWAYS been the man. Notice how he went from the Worm voice to his natural voice. Billy Beck is tha' $&#^@. Next to Bernie Worrell, one of my favorite keyboardist. No one could F with an ARP the way he did.

    Respect William "Billy" Beck!

  • this is some good stuff man!

  • So that's where Trey Parker got the idea for the voice for Eric Cartman from !

  • awesome. first i heard of this song was of the sample used in "dopeman" by NWA. kickass song. both of them.

  • i have a question

wat makes that wistling sound from 1:16 - 1:36?

  • I used to wonder how they made that sound,

but as I thought, and as you can see in the vid,

it's using the pitch on the synth :)

  • YES!! Real music....

  • Even those cheap ass, nauseatingly tinny synth sounds can't mask the genius of Mr Beck. Really wish it was an Arp Odyssey & fender rhodes he was playin' here, but just great to see the man, lookin' well I must concur, still struttin' his wayyy 2 funky stuff!

  • geahhh

    i love funky worm

  • First time I heard this song, was in computer game GTA: San Andreas. From that time I fell in love with such music.

  • REAL OLDSKOOL SIMON QUE SI

  • Billy Beck is the man. He really hooked up "The One I Need," which was my favorite track on Shirley Murdock's first project.

  • Actually , THB already excisted in the mid-70's and was found by ROGER TROUTMAN and his brothers . One ultra-rare album and a few 45-singles were released back then on their own TROUTMAN BROS-Label under the title : " ROGER TROUTMAN & THE HUMAN BODY " .

Later in the 90's re-issued on cd under the title " Truth To Be Known "

  • A few years after SHADOW , Billy joined the ZAPP-produced trio-band called THE HUMAN BODY , including with him , the Late & Legendary P-Funk bass-singer "Sting"Ray Davis and also Larry Hatcher .

THB released 2 albums in the 80's , but Billy's performing on the debut-80's-album : "Make You Shake It" from 1984 .

  • AW wow , Mister Billy Beck gittin' down on tha keyz .

Nastay jam ! Thanx 4 posting Valley !

I can recommend the albums of the OHIO P-spin-off-group called SHADOW .

3 albums which they released with and LEON WARE cooperated on some albums .

  • wow man what a video...this is billy beck the keyboard player for the ohio players at the height of their popularity doing "funky worm basically by himself. I love the solo (he still makes it pop even with that garbage casio keyboard), and the horn lines that he's playing plus he's singing all of the parts....what a clip THANK YOU!!!

  • damn such a kick ass groove

  • LOVE the keys. Damn that's funky. Of course it might be funkier with some talkboxing on top :)

  • Thanks for the comment Talkboxmayhem. During this particular TV show, Billy and the band gave a mini-concert and they did Roger Troutman's "Heartbreak" and they used the Talkbox. It was great.

  • Wow. Heartbreaker is a great song - I'm sure the band's cover was on point. Now....where is *that* video? That must have been off-the-hook funky!

  • Hi Talkboxmayhem: Heartbreaker is also on this video.

  • if you want the original version pplz, get limewire... thats how i donwloaded mine.

  • yer it is on san andreas but why does this sound so different?

  • absolutely brilliant, i love this song :)

    awesome band too!

    5 stars

  • is there no video of the original song...the original is way better than this one.... especially the "peep"(?) sound at 01:17

  • miss those days

  • if only the original version of this song wuz on itunes...

  • It's on the San Andreas soundtrack.

  • Billy's Response: "Reforming the Ohio Players? Yes. But not exclusively from Youngstown. I don't know if Tank is starting a band with the former lead of "Less Than Zero," but I do agree that tank is a heck of a drummer."

  • Billy's response: "Thank you. I'm glad to be in that esteemed mix."

  • Is it true that Billy is re-forming the Ohio Players in Youngstown? I also herd that the drummer from the Howard & the .5 Band was forming a group with the former lead singer of "Less than Zero" and "Flirt" Eddie Johnson from Akron,Ohio...who is also a relative of the late Roger Troutman. If thats true, that will be one hell of a band 'cause Tank is Youngstown's best drummer and Eddie is a softer side of the late Bobby DeBarge of the group "Switch". The brotha can blow.

  • Anytime I hear the sound of an ARP I can't help think of Billy Beck...

He didn't deserves a lot more credit for creating the way keyboards were used in R & B ! ! !

  • Billy's response: "Thank you very much for noticing. When ARP first came out with synthesizers, I was the first in R&B to use them on a major label recording."

  • I agree, the ARP String Ensemble used on Together and I Want To Be Free blew me away in 1974. I never heard anything like it. Bernie used the same keyboard for Give Up The Funk

  • Good performance but Junie Morrison created Funky Worm

  • Thank you and you are right. Will make the correction.

  • Billy's response: "Junie Morrison was my predacessor, and before I became an Ohio Player I was an original Ohio Players fan."

  • Glad to see this done again.

  • Bill Beck doing his funky thang!

  • Billy is awesome

  • yea

  • Billy Beck is one of my top 5 pianist....and he is classicly trained....although that's an awsome performance, he is wayyyy better than that video shows...he looks kind of funny with that box haircut instead of the long perm he use to have...

  • Billy's response: "Time brings about changes in everyone. Ha Ha Ha."

  • i thought one of GTA:SA video game song

  • Hi HeavenXxx, I didn't quite understand your comment.

  • it iz a gta sa song on bounce fm, but its original
