It all started with the Cold War, when we began doubling and even tripling the defense budget in a time when we weren't even at war. The "arms race" aganist Russia put us in a budget deficit. We spent hundreds of billions of dollars on military equipment that was scrapped then replaced with newer and more expensive weapons.

I actually do know several millionaires in person and they are very charitable people. I would not call myself rich, moderately well off and I give to charities as well and fund raise for Easter Seals and the USO among others. The point is that all of us have compassion and would do a far better job than the govt in helping those in need if we were not taxed at the ridiculous levels that we are. All of which provides a basis for my rejection of socialism and support of the ideals of our republic with limited federal influence. And THAT is what socialism strives for which I reject, central control.

@paulkudlac Oh, by the by. I hope you're picketing public schools, public libraries, Fire $ Rescue, Medicare, and your local police station. You wouldn't want to look hypocritical with your rants against all things socialistic. Oh.. those are the 'good' kind of socialism. I forget.
Next time you want to throw around a logical fallacy to make it seem like you are somehow grounded in reality, try not committing them yourself.

@rottwylor What gave you the impression I support Medicare? And your inability to propose a valid comparison or analogue is evident in comparing federal to state subsided and regulated institution. Why don't you learn the difference between what you probably inaccurately call a democracy, from its intended inception, that which we educated call a republic. And with some help you might begin to understand those who don't drink the socialist Kool-Aid.

Also his comments about the majority of homeless people just "hanging out" is wrong. About 25% are severely mentally ill, and around 66% are addicted to a substance or mentally ill. He's trying to make facts fit his world view or use extreme cases (billionaires) as the norm.

Huh, now he's saying she's basing her argument on her thought and that how does she know that millionaires are doing, but I have to wonder what he is doing then exactly when he says that most homeless are lazy and don't try to work.
