i bet i have a better drum set i have an 11 piece ludwig double bass drum set with a 16 and a 14 icnch crash a 22 inch ride and the high hats and i for get the last one and my 6 and 8 inch splashes are one the way and my new 14 inch crash will be soon and im looking at a china soon but i nee more cash
A major problem with a lot of very talented drummers... they do "solos" to express their skill... but usually do not orchestrate a consistent melodic riff. Your really good man.
You rely too much on your snare to keep the beat going, other than that its pretty good. The progression was kind of slow too, but your i guess you were warming up? Your kit is tuned nicely also. good job.
The middle was the best part. The begging and the end were good, but they got kind of boring after a while. This solo would be better if it was shorter. Overall it was good though.
Can you PLEASE tell me how to set up a Jam Block? I got 2 for my birthday and I have no idea how to use them because they didn't come with instructions or anything. If you could send me a PM or something that would be great. =3
@MackingCrew One interesting thing I tried was attaching them to my hi-hat stand (The long part that sticks out of the cymbals) and it works nicely. I use an LP Red Block and an LP Orange Piccolo Block =P
@jevosaphain: he's using mics to record the drums, cause when captured with only the camera mic, they usually sound like shit, regardless of how good your drums are..
@jevosaphain: apparently through a mixing desk of some kind that he has connected to the PC where he mixes down the channels with some kind of software to bring the final result, along with specialized software used for synchronizing the video with the final audio result.. or something like that :) i hope i was clear enough..
i really like this solo... I'm fourteen and I've been playing for three years, and I basically studied this video to see if I could play this solo. Turns out I can, but putting in a tamborine here and there makes it sound really kick ass, and you should also try putting some double bass in there.
For toms i like the EC2s but i also like the Evans Genera Dry. give those a try next time you change heads.i have ec2s on my custom so i may just buy the genera dry and see what kind of sound that gives me. For snare i prefer the Power Center reverse dot with a hazy 300 reso.
Not bad... I would recommend sticking some of your gear in the closet for a bit and just play a 4pc w/ crash, ride, and hat for a bit though. It will tighten up your playing quite a bit.
When I had my acoustic kit, it never really sounded good, so I always wondered how dudes on youtube tuned theirs. It had a ringing sound and too much resonance. I should have tried filming a drumming session and see how it sounds.
wow! honestly from all the videos on youtube of drummers, you have by far beaten them all in tom sounds and drum tuing. if i ever heard a perfect sounding tom, this video models it. very well done!
It's an Evans reverse power center. It's about 6 year old, 14 x 5.5 in Maple. Not sure if they were called MCX in those days but it probably is the same thing.
nice...everything i enjoyed everythign about this video, the playing and the equipment, this is really making me consider getting a pearl masters snare ive always wanted one
you need mor technique in your hands!!and even it is a freestylesolo change a bit your grooves and rythms!!at the and its kind of boring!!but fucking amazing sound!!

@Chameleonizer You need to screw the metal bit onto the block.
Then you just attach it to a cymbal stand or something.

Damn i wish my exports sounded like that =[. Oh well getting my masters custom next week. What heads are the toms batter and reso?
echoe09 3 years ago
On my masters custom I have the remo factory fitted heads on the reso, Evans G2 clear on top. Tried EC2s but they suck.
MackingCrew 3 years ago

I've been playing about 12 years, i'm out for 6 week with a broken collar bone right now though.

Sounds good. What kind of heads are you using? Is it an evans dry on the pearl snare?
subulion 3 years ago
It's a Reverse Power Center I think and possibly a hazy 300 resonant.
MackingCrew 3 years ago
It would probably still sound ringy, but if you use proper tom mics they cut out certain frequencies.
MackingCrew 3 years ago
what mics were you using? Sounds really really good
MrDrummon 3 years ago
just samson 7-kit
shure sm57 on snare
MackingCrew 3 years ago
hey dude wanna tune my toms
tahoedrums10 3 years ago
My toms don't sound that good in real life, is just the way the mics pick them up and a bit of EQ.
MackingCrew 3 years ago
When I had my acoustic kit, it never really sounded good, so I always wondered how dudes on youtube tuned theirs. It had a ringing sound and too much resonance. I should have tried filming a drumming session and see how it sounds.
