Thrice came out of a post-hardcore-ish environment, they have since moved beyond that and really are more in "experimental" grounds in a sense (not quite art punk which is a bit more defined at the moment). They are doing something different with this song, and it fits great with the concept album.

Frodus is better. Every song by Frodus is great. Thrice...not so much. I try to like these guys, but seriously, I get SO close to liking them, but I can't help but see their flaws. They're trying, though, and I don't see many genuinely musical efforts these days anymore. That being said, go Thrice. Frodus did it more completely, fully, and more substantially, though, sorry. :(
