  • Its pretty much the same as twister two

  • @brenton547 no it's not. It's nothing like it.

  • 6 Flags is nothing in comparison to Elitch's. Miss that place!

  • This might have been the best I ever rode, just because I could never quite figure out the layout. The tunnel really looked like it would take your head off. My sister didn't speak to me much after riding it. And the Wildcat was much wilder in its last weeks. RIP to both. Nice touch with using Chocolate Watchband.

  • im not sure its quite the same, but the rebuilt it at the new elitches

  • @ekajwall no. it's nothing like the original except the 'twister' in the name.

  • Spell check lake cmpounce

  • I miss pulling into the lot and seeing them right infront of you these mean big woodens that can kick your ass. Every knows the new park blows haven't been there in over 10 years and I don't plan on it. I got two out here that are damn close to those. Wildcat like compounce and that twister in pa.

  • @mickeyshasher

What tree you mean the big peace of gum that had a tree growing in it lol.

  • I miss those two. Last summer there I sat in line with my aunt and sister for and hour mind you I was 8 or 9 so that wad a life time for me , only to be told I was an inch to short to ride the wildcat and an inch to short for mr.twister and 2 inchs too short for the sidewinder (no biggy). Thought I would come back next summer and I would be good but this was summer of 94 I was pissed.

  • Twister at Knoebels is great, love it, sad the original one had to be demolished. Problem with wooden coasters is older ones, people like the fastest, tallest coasters. Parks want to keep up to date for profit, and good classic coasters go dust to dust. Organizations like ACE help prevent that from happening. Twister was not moved to PA, it was demolished. Knoebels made a design based on Twister, similar, but some differances because of land layout and such.

  • This was the first roller coaster I ever went on. I was terrified but my dad made me. When we got off I asked if we could go again. Man I miss the old Elitches so much.

  • I worked Mr. Twister for a couple of years. It was indeed a travesty to lose it. I boycotted the new park. Still do, actually.

  • @shosta23 Absolutely NOT! The original kicked a#*!!

  • I havent liked elitch since they moved to the new spot, they charge for parking now, shame

  • There is a bolt that is in the Twister by the entrance that has a sign saying it is and original bolt from Mr. Twister.

  • This roller coaster is the gem of all those roller coasters out there. Im glad I rode it, its my favorite. Ill never forget riding it at night and that insane swoop curve, two turn drop combo and double helix! It felt like the ride was going to collapse because of the extreme forces. It sucks that its gone and I wish it was back. The Twister Two is NOTHINg in comparison to the original. Hate to break it to you young kids!

  • They should take out the Mind Eraser and some of the rides around it and bring back the Wildcat.

  • why mind eraser thats the best one

  • I prefer Twister 2 better

  • You know that the layout is pretty much the same?

  • head out to knoebels in elysburg PA. They made a coaster named Twister. It's mathematically the same coaster as Mr. Twister, but it is Mirrored and compacted into a smaller space.

  • It's simply newer. They wanted to relocate the coaster, but it was deemed immpossible. There is, however, one "Golden Bolt" from the original ride.

  • @chewnisklan I have ridden both coasters. Grew up in Colorado and now live in PA. Knoebel's did a decent job of reproducing the original. They held a "bolt ceremony" a few years ago when they placed a bolt from the original, into the frame of the new ride. Sweet.

  • even the smell of the old elitchs was awesome... that place was dirty but fun... remember the "gum" tree while you were waiting in line for the wildcat and the splinter? and the crazy music they had going while waiting for the splinter.... the old elitch's rocked it!!

  • @mickeyshasher Ahh yes...worked there when I was 16, back in 1983. So sad it's gone. The new park isn't Elitches...

  • twister 2 sucks... bring back the real twister and the wildcat!!!

  • ha second coaster, 11 first was sidewinder

  • I noticed how Twister II's layout has nearly the same layout as the original Mister Twister. However, after the second hill, instead of turning right into the helix, the track runs around the structure of the swoop at the top of the lift hill. Also, the new ride's helix has some slight differences in hill location, and the straight part after the tunnel is to the right of the lift hill, not the left.

  • Oh my god I dont remember poting those comments but I wasnt alive in 91 so i didnt lose anything but it is still there with a new name the only wooden roller coaster still there its a remake of the origianl but its almost the exact same i think!

  • My family used to love going to this park. The Splinter ride, the diving show, mini golf,The Wild Cat coaster,The Sky Rides. Don't get me wrong I still like the park but, being downtown everything's just so artificial.I mean there is a lot of nostalgia at the new location but, still I yearn for the 38th and tennyson park that I grew up with U_U *sigh*

  • Can't forget the log ride, The old Elitch's @ 38th & Tennyson was the best

  • This was the first roller coaster I ever went on. They have the twister 2 now but it's a completely different roller coaster not as good. The old park was 100 nicer and had so much more character with the diving, wild west show, and just the gardens. Good memories.

  • Thanks for the memories...Elitch's will always hold a special place in my heart and the memories of my Dad taking me there always make me smile :).

  • Oh and by the way i live there my whole life (im 11) and so yea!

  • Twister isnt gone they dont call it Mr. Twister anymore now its called Twister II (II meaning 2)

  • wat a scary though, i wasn't alive at this time =( oh well, i missed out on a coster to remember forever =)

IN MEMORY OF MISTER TWISTER R.I.P

  • We will all miss you, Mr. Twister.

  • that place sucks now!!!! one big hott asphalt desert the rides are cool but the old school elitches at least had shade and grass and didn't charge 7 dollars for a 12oz. beer.

  • Twister two is just as fun I'm sure.

  • It isn't half as good as the old one. In fact, they packed up the other attractions, moved them 20 miles up the road, and set up again. Why couldn't they do the same for Mr. Twister? They rebuilt it in '99 at Knoebels in Pennsylvania

  • No, it's not

  • Thanks for posting this! I remeber it all too well.

  • Did you all know that they moved this roller coaster to an amusement park in PA called knobles? i love this ride!

  • Actually is was not moved, it was destroyed. Knobles built their own version which has some of the same elements, but the layout is quite different from the Denver original.

  • Are you sure?

  • Yes, I'm sure. I grew up in Denver and lived there at the time and also worked in the corporate sales department at the old Elitch's location. The Knobles Twister is a good ride, but it was built from scratch and has several differences.

  • oh. ok. sry if i offended you. I did not know that

  • No problem bud. I'm sorry if I offended you too. Best regards.

  • The Knoebels Twister isn't that much different. The three differences are:

1: Folded Lift hill - You get two swooping S Curves now, because the lift had to folded to fit in the tight spot.

2: The Track is a mirrored version. Look at Mr. twister, now turn the opposite direction

    3. The Station is completely Curved.

Those are the only diffferences, otherwise same ride.

  • Who do you think you're talking too? I know all of that. The ORIGINAL was much more different than you suggest. The double helix is wrong, and cuts into the struture very differently. And where is the tunnel??? Mirrord? Yes, I know that. The first two hills are farily accurate, but even the double helix in not right.

  • swampfoxer you did it again!!!!!! at least twice you have combined my two "favoritest" things in the world ! obscure psychedelic music and wooden rollercoasters.! god, i wish i could find that album.. i think i have "will you be there (at the love in)" somwhere great combination.. ! and of course the footage was top notch.. what more could i ask for.. ?

  • I love you for putting this up. I live in Denver and being of a younger age I never got the chance to ride this monster. Makes me sad, Twister II isn't anything to brag about let alone Elitch's itself. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to see this thing on film!
