  • I believe that that was a Titan III, and since my dad was an engineer on Titan, I think I was at this launch. Looks like there's a Centaur upper stage on it, which might make it a IIIE, but I'd need the exact date this was filmed to be sure (or at least the year.)

  • After watching this I thought amazing. After reading the comments not so much

  • What did he say right after "destination: the moon"?

  • @g1234538 "Destination: the moon, or moscow, the planets or peking."

  • That rocket's a great actor, igniting right on cue!

  • Yes, the rocket shown launching is a Titan with 2 SRBs. The Titan burned Aerozine 50 (50/50 Hydrazine and UMDH) and NTO, not LOX and LH.

  • damn! no one can be more ninja than that!

  • James sure knows how to drive home a point.

  • @csselement Or does he?

  • James Burke is awesome!

  • james burke is the shit!!

  • @lumaix Or is he?

  • @epsteinsmutha1 because in 1856 james burke was declared the shit... or is it? :D

  • @lumaix If not, why isn't it? Or was it?

  • "You get.... that."

  • Incredible. For Mr. Burke, fantastic is just showing off.

  • yet again another great post thanks, get james Burke on the case

  • Hmm... I'm going to have to add a section to make these viewable. Unfortunately 1 more icon and I have to rename everything (lose a ton of width due to the introduction of a scroll bar). I'll make a playlist of "random Burke" and add it to the bottom icon (with the Spanish stuff).

  • far out .. the timing of the rocket launch was bullet proof, love to see a modern journalist pull that off.

  • Did you hear his discussion on that in Re-Connections? If not, here's the relevant section:

  • @JamesBurkeWeb thank you for putting all these clips up. After viewing the series it's nice to see a commentary on it much as DVD viewers get with movies. I did get an error trying to check the video out, take away the space and it works.

  • @clearair Yeah, but.....

That's not a Hydrogen fueled rocket launch.

As you've seen on Shuttle launches, except for the solid fueled boosters,

    the exhaust is transparent.

  • Brilliant
