  • i wonder what would happen with a bigger ball...

  • those are so cool!!!!!!!!!!

  • What are the products or materials you used to make this bowling lane? :)

  • 1:11 was a backdoor strike

  • Do they oil duckpin lanes? just wondering since almost all the videos on duckpin everyone launches the ball.

  • Holiday Lanes!

  • Where is this Duckpin place I might know where it is!!!

  • where is this

  • Oooooh! Oh! Ehoo! Woooo! Ho! Heyoooo! Yess! Ho ho! Ha ha!

  • What bowling alley is this at?

  • wow ! ! are there still duckpin alleys still in existence?...incredible! ! !

  • redpin is a sidegame when bowling on certain leagues, if the redpin is the headpin and u get a strike u win a prize.. i havent bowled duckpin in 5 yrs i did it for 8 and im only 22. good sport lots of fun but hard not a sport for everyone..

  • 1:10

    Woooooooooo!!

  • the red pin is used as a prize pin. If you get a strike when the red pin is the head pin u get a prize which is usually a free game of bowling but u must tell the alley worker when the red pin comes up before you bowl so the cany (spot) watch you...

  • stringing the strikes is harder than it looks because of the physics of the pins being hit by the ball. this is especially true with duckpin balls because of their lighter weight and the velocity that the balls are being thrown at.

  • Please sign my petition to help get more duckpins, rubberband duckpins, and Canadian 5-pin bowling here in Massachusetts. 5-Pin, Rubberband Duckpin & More Duckpin Bowling in Massachusetts Petition: petitiononline(dot)com/massbowl/petition(dot)html

  • In Collins Bowladrome in Billerica, Mass-- north of Boston.

  • oao, oooaaaaaooooaaoaoaoooa

    augh, aaaaauuuughhhhhh

    heyo, heyyoooooooooo

    oao, oooaooaoaaaooaaaoaaoaoa

  • hahaha that guy in the background was classic

  • This actually looks pretty fun. Don't get me wrong, I love my 10 pin, but I have got to try this some time.

  • Thats cool...

Is duckpin only on the east coast???

  • MD and CT only.

  • What iconofsin said is only part right. This vid was shot north of Boston. They have duckpin lanes but they are NOT sanctioned. RI has sanctioned lanes as well. To my surprise I found out that Quebec has duckpin as well and they televise it.

  • the slow motion voices were funny xD

  • the scattering of pins in a strike is the best part- POW!

  • looks cool, but i think i will stay with 5 pin

  • I did duckpins for about 15 years. I got a sanctioned 204 game on the old wooden pins, before plastic back in 1970. When they went to plastic it took me 2 years to get back to where I was. back then a 120 average was great. I averaged about 118 for years, then, dropped to 110 with plastic pins, as my curve did not like them. I left some terrible splits. Then once I changed balls and delivery, I averaged about 130, but got bored with it

  • Looks like fun!

  • 10 pin bowling all the way...btw...nice song

  • i agree. this looks like a game for fags...10 pin all the way!

  • ill guve tya nothing if you can leave another comment without swearing or being insulting

  • personally i love candlepin... but i do want to try this out sometime

  • how many times did you guys play over those first two seconds? 20? 30?

  • How about 0?

  • well i thought it was pretty awesome. along with the rest of the vid too

  • I love duckpin bowling. I've been doing it for about 16 years. Go North/South tourneys! Its rather challenging, which makes it very interesting to me. I also ten-pin and I do like it and it can be difficult at times. Both require a ton of skill. I've been candlepin bowling as well. Let me just say it was interesting throwing such a light ball. I just love it when you make those crazy splits in duckpins.

  • I like youre voice in slomo lol ;P

  • lucky in shot 1:11

  • I would love to try duckpins and candlepins. Though I highly doubt I'll find them here in Chicagoland. Perhaps I should open my own bowling establishment and have tenpin, duckpin and candlepin...hmmmm.

  • LOL! When someone says something like whoo!, it sounds like a monster

  • I now live in California, and I've never met anyone in the United States other than Maryland who has even heard of duckpins. Incredible!

  • I'm from Kensington! Used to bowl ducks and tens at the Wheaton Triangle. My brother said ducks were like "shooting marbles!"

  • Duckpins are fun, but doesn't require the skill that real bowling does.

  • Like heck it doesn't. You don't get nearly as many breaks in duckpins as you do in ten pins.

  • LOL...oh please. There is no ball selection to worry about in duckpins. No lane conditions involved. Why do you think there is no money involved in duckpins? Get real.

  • bull shit, wood houses and synthedic houses both slide different, bounce different and grip the lane different with your curve. and the ball selection is just the same as in ten pin. if you use a light ball in duckpin on your first ball you are always goin to leave either the 5 7 or 10 pin. and they money is involved its just not national about it. just in va, md(home), ct, mass, dc, and a few in the central north states.

  • Ball selection (rubber or fiberglass); lane conditions (little or too much oil; warped lanes due to dampness, etc.); size and weight of balls (3lb. 8oz. to 3lb. 12oz./ 4 7/8 in. to 5 in. in circumference). All these things duckpinners are concerned with.

There's no money in duckpins mainly because of perception of it as a child's game and the ease in the which tenpinners can bowl perfect games, as well as the marketing of tens to babyboomers raised on Fred Flintstone.

  • These comments are are in response to flydude's comments and kornation1's as well.

  • Your Fred Flintstone comment pretty much says it all. It's a kids game played by kids, and kid-like people. If you're going to try and defend something, I would stay away from the kiddie comments. Doesn't give you much credibility

  • Unfortunately, you seem to have tunnel vision as far as your perception of the duckpin game. Have you ever tried it?

  • The Flintstones was a cartoon showed during prime time aimed at adults in its day. The same babyboomers watching Fred throw a tenpin ball are the same people being marketed to. I don't need to stat away from the kiddie comments at all. All you need to do is look at ALL the evidence before you render a judgement. It is your ignorance of something you probably never experienced that makes you say what you say. Real men use skills and smarts to bowl a strike, nor brute strength, even in tenpins.

  • lol the hell it doesnt, yea you can throw the ball harder but you do not get nearly as many strikes as you do ten pin. the highest game ever bowled in duckpin is 287

  • no one has ever bowled a perfect game in duckpin?

  • The perfect duckpin game.

  • isnt 258 the record?

  • 279 from what I remember.

  • Duckpins are much harder dude. Have you ever even done it?

  • what is the red pin for???

  • Good question! No idea!

  • the red pin is usaly used around holidays for youth bowlers to get a strike or spare for a prize if the pin is in the 1,2 or 3 spot.

  • @Bowler4Ever Its for if you have it as the head pin, and you get a turkey (as the red pinn on one strike) you get a prize

  • @Bowler4Ever When the red pin was in the headpin position and you got a strike you got a free game @ suitland bowl years ago

  • That pin action in the second one is beautiful.

This was my first bowling love before ten-pins.

This Silver Spring native says THANKS!

  • Triangle Lanes represent!

  • Heck yes! My dad used to go out there (Weaton Triangle Lanes) when he was a young man!

It closed before I started, so I cut my teeth at the White Oak Duckpin Alley and Tuffy Leeman's in Glenmont .

  • I grew up with Duckpins in Maryland. Nobody's heard of it here in Georgia. They think I'm crazy... but they don't know what they're missing.

  • there has never been a perfect game bowled in duckpin EVER! and there are many thrown in 10-pin everyday... so what you gana say about that hot-shot..

  • ok faggot, how about because there are probably 1000 bowling centers for every 1 duckpin center. so im pretty sure you are more likely to see a 300 in ten pin bowling

  • hey forbesmith...why dont you go try and toss a few 300 games and then rag on ten-pin

  • your damn right

  • No disrespect. Duckpin is a good game. Tenpin is too. I grew up with Candlepin, its still challenging to me. I will admit, I've never tried Duckpin, so whenever I go to Baltimore, I'll give it a shot.

You read that I said it was all good, right??

  • Actually candlepin is harder. Some places give you a free game if you throw a strike! I'm not dissing duckpin (seeing that I bowl duckpin all the time)

  • As cool as the strikes were, the funniest part were the sounds in slow motion!!!

    Keep them coming!

  • Dude..That is some good bowling. As a Baltimore bowler I know!!

  • Indeed...but everyone knows us Marylanders closer to the District do it best :-D

  • Hmm? i still confuse...why it all is white pin but one is red pin? why it red?

  • Possibly a money pin for leagues. I'm not sure myself!

  • @1SmileDude1 if its the head pin on party nights and you get a strike you get a prize.. like a free game

  • @1SmileDude1

The last time I bowled duckpins--about 40 years ago--if you got a strike when the red pin came up as the headpin you got a free game.

  • The duckpin place here is just 10 lanes, very well-kept for the most part

  • Actually we have 3 alleys with duckpin lanes within 15 minutes of my house, people put it down,I also bowl tenpin and carry a 188avg.,duckpins way harder.

  • A duckpin bowler here from Martinsburg,WV...been bowling duckpin since i was 6,carry a 131 average now,(i'm 33 now). nice video!!!!1

  • I'm not even an avid duckpin bowler! That was like my 6th time ever duckpin bowling (I'm 17) and I do love it, especially since this house is 20 minutes away!

  • amazing shot at 1:13

Duckpin bowling looks so fun I wish I had it where we live:(
