  • Apparently GG, when he liked a piece, liked sometimes to slow down its rythm as much as he could. The result is surprising but, I think, often beautiful, with a coherence and balance of its own.

  • I usually like Gould's interpretations a lot, but this was just too slow. There isnt much reason to mess up basic rhythms like that either.

  • @daburge07 I think I read somewhere that he had never played nor heard these ballades until the day of the recording. He had only studied the scores.

  • This actually anti-romantic pianists has recorded one of the most touching interpretation of Brahms' Ballades and Intermezzi. Love this.

  • This makes no sense if you consider the text of the Scottish Ballade "Edward", a dialogue between a knight and his mother.

  • I´really can´t understand how could musical criticals write too long text about a song and about a personal interpretation. It´s waste time and energy which can be used to do great thinks like another interpretation istead to be talnking and writting.

  • Good.
