I´really can´t understand how could musical criticals write too long text about a song and about a personal interpretation. It´s waste time and energy which can be used to do great thinks like another interpretation istead to be talnking and writting.

I usually like Gould's interpretations a lot, but this was just too slow. There isnt much reason to mess up basic rhythms like that either.

@daburge07 I think I read somewhere that he had never played nor heard these ballades until the day of the recording. He had only studied the scores.

This actually anti-romantic pianists has recorded one of the most touching interpretation of Brahms' Ballades and Intermezzi. Love this.

This makes no sense if you consider the text of the Scottish Ballade "Edward", a dialogue between a knight and his mother.
