Authoritarianism was a necessary measure. This is a natural reaction to "shock therapy" of stupid Yeltsin. But this does not mean that authoritarianism will be always.
Honestly how old is the US relative to the Russkies ? America only shares borders with 2 different major countries (Mexico, Canada). No invasion in modern times. Very convenient! Lets see what Russia has gone through? eg: ww1 ww2 civil war, 3 or so different economic systems, and various other shit. Who is more developed as a nation lol!
Privatization , fuck that ! Have that shit in Russia, and you will have bread lines once again! Where you think the oligarchs got their money/power.
Why - do we Americans have to point fingers at other countries about their business if we can't get our own stuff right? When we live and let live, we don't need to condemn, umpire, or denounce others. We should not control anyone or try and make him or her conform to our way of philosophy. Let others live their own lives and we live ours.

the important thing is that russian democracy is not a democracy that has failed. there was never a democracy in russia. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL man get your point, but its still hilarious
but yes i totally agree with the enlarged dispersion and repartition of ressources always comes democracy :DDDDD this is a transitional fase, lets hope..
jews with made up names stole land in america, enslaved a ppl, then when ordered to free them, freed them to a job identical to the one they were enslaved under, started paying bird feed wages, then wanted rent for housing because they couldn't have slaves any longer, when the idigenous ppl are the original land lords...this is america not russia
Elibouscher if one atheist "jew" acts like a monster every jewish person is painted that same color. But then you already knew that. Just like all blacks have huge penises and all Native Americans are hopeless alcoholics.
His statement that the future of democracy is in increased private ownership (or, millionaires who have a stake in the country) is, for me, very problematic. It assumes their is enough resources to spread around. It seems more likely that it will create a class of wealthy elites who control democracy, as has happened throughout history. Large disenfranchised populations will not make Russia more free.
eirefrance: Precisely. Increased private ownership (particularly when coupled w/ globalization), simply means a a dictatorship by phantom, unelectable and sometimes foreign boards of directors... and an election between figureheads to represent them. Democracy has been hijacked. Then again, democracy is hijackable.
oh but there are increasing ressources... and theyre being more and more dispersed throuhout society...plus in russia the whatever millionaires are (unlike in the west) subject to intense state supervision, and the russian state is making sure the average citizens life is getting better.
when ressources are dispersed, power is dispersed. when power is dispersed, authoritarian systems do not hold on. look at the USSR. and i believe putin knows this very well. theres some truth in the statement that hes the saviour of russia you know

I assume you're talking about merchantalism when you say capitalism, and not a free-market. Is so, than I agree.
