I remember every second of that performance, and the year for that matter. Thanks for posting this remarkable video. It brought back a great memory of the year and that time with the Orchestra. Dr Dan
Thanks Dr. Dan... I think almost all of the members from that year remember it very well also. Thank you for all that you and the rest of the staff and volunteers did to make it happen.
Thank you Conrad for posting.....what an awesome year. Still makes my heart beat 10x faster. They wanted loud..well they got loud from the best horn line there is. SUTA! PRC 82-87 PR 88-89.
@tmmyboy124 - Good point. Better not let Hoppy or Gibbs see this. They'd probably think it's great drum corps, except for all those loud horn players wearing white in the back.
Thank you! This is the first time I've seen a recording of this since 1989. It may have been on the video yearbook that was done after the season, but I loaned it to someone within a few months & never got it back. Playing with the KC Symphony was a fantastic experience & one that, in the drum corps world, I believe is unique to the '89 Regiment. Mike Margraf, PR sop, '85, '86, '87, '89.
Heh heh... well, there were two groups of people in the audience. One was the K.C. Symphony season ticket crowd - the other drum corps nuts. I think the orchestra crowd had no idea what they were in for - - - and the drum corps nuts DID throw babies (you can see a little reaction on the video, but I don't think they expected us to unleash like that). Thanks a lot for remembering the show from that year.
Well, I remember from the rehearsals we were trying to hold back as much as we could so we would not blow out the orchestra. I think we did - in rehearsal. At the concert, the baritones at 5:38 obviously just decided to unleash - and at that point we were at full outdoor volume. Thanks for your thoughts about finals week.
Ok, this was transferred professionally from a videotape. It's probably the 3rd copy from the original. So, forgive any audio and visual defects resulting from that.
All time best horn line. Amazing.

Give drum corps 2 or 3 years and you'll really have a hornline playing with strings :)
Sounds awesome though, haven't seen this since the early 2000's on the 1989 video yearbook.

LOL. Orchestra was "done" from the buick's turn on the melody on out
Was in KC 1989 for the year Phantom should have truly had this championship, but missed this. Thanks for posting
