I ride my bicycle in mexico city. to me its safer not to do hand signals al tall, its better to keep my hands on the brake levers ALL the time. after an almost - crash I realised that.
Pretty good, Dan and REI! The series covers the major points. My only gripe is with saying that bike lanes and shared lane markers point out the safest place to be. They don't always, as you yourself imply when you say you may need to be outside the bike lane next to parked cars. I'd rather you said something like always think for yourself, and don't assume you must follow the paint. Many city planners don't really know traffic cycling best practice, and just blindly apply "standards".
Good advice, but I would not take the lane, I would be afraid of some A-hole talking on their cell phone and not paying attention hitting me, so I always pull onto a side road to let the cars pass, also ride with a head light and tail light.
I was looking for a intro video! I am about to start communting with my road bikes! Thanks for everything!
