  • Thanks dracher for your comments about Paul Robeson. I agree with you that he was a great man, and I enjoyed immensely meeting and taliing with his son. Thanks again for writing to me.

  • I went to see Call Mr Robeson in London, a beautiful play about the great man himself, written and performed by the gifted Tayo Aluko, highly recommended!

  • To begin to understand the extraordinary man Paul Robeson, one must get all modern ideas of Afro American life out of the argument. McCarthy was able to talk to Mrs Robeson in that way, because neither he nor a huge section of the American people at that time had any respect for black people. Robeson was a man of such dignity and deeply felt human understanding that we white people sat up and listened whenever he spoke, he shaped my personal views of racists and racism. He was a great man .

  • Hi,

Fighting is not the solution. Growing in consciousness is. Than one knows what to do.

  • Thanks!

  • It's the first time I heard his wife Eslanda speak; which was nice but outrageous how the House of Unamerican Activities reacted that all communists are considered second class citizen in America. Glad that Obama has risen!

  • "Stridently Pro-Soviet" is a bit bias. "Pro-Peace with the Soviet Union" is closer to it. He never wanted war with the USSR bottom line.

  • sad that america was made up of such Racists establishment, even in the education system. I still can't believe this. Judging someone by the color of their skin.

  • Thank you for your contribution. I have Martin Bauml Duberman book in my collection and my heart broke when I saw Paul as an old man not so long before he died. Paul is still in my Heart and he will always be.

  • well he was well loved and taken care of in his later years and he died with his dignity intact.

Great doc, i've never seen this. Thanks so much

  • @Tenderness6 yes I saw those pictures I went to his funeral. Still breaks my heart

  • @vivascargill It's touches my Heart that people like you still cherish my beloved Paul.

  • All's well that ends well, all those racist's are now in hell
