Yes Vicki your work is subtley beautiful.I normally don't like this sort of thing but your projects are tasteful not tacky as some. I'll pass by here from time to time to see what your up to!
Thank you, this is quite a compliment. You hit on the key. Decorative painting needs to be a subtle compliment, rarely a feature. Elaborate murals and trompe l'oeil, or harsh aged finishes do not provide the refined appeal I encourage. Like a great bracelet with a wonderful dress, decorative painting "enhances" but does not overpower.
ZITZON: I accidentally removed your comment, but you asked me to look at and comment on the REM Losing My Religion video on your page, so I checked it out and below are my comments. Thank you for visiting.
ZITZON: In the REM -- 1 of 3 The dramatic finish at :42 and :52 are best achieved with oil glazes. I have 500 characters here, so I will split into 2 steps. Step 1- make glazes using alcyd paint mixed w/ alkyd glaze and a bit of thinner, plus a touch of Penetrol or similar brand paint conditioner. This helps with open time and helps with lustre.
ZITZON: REM 2 of 3 - w/ a damp natural sea wool sponge, sponge the colors on wet, no bald spots, and blend them w/ rinsed and machine dried cheesecloth, followed with a dry-brush blending using a soft natural bristle brush. 2 colors at a time, let dry, next 2 colors. The background might be a rich yellow/gold.
ZITZON: REM - 3 of 3 -The painted clouds at 1:11 don't impress me much. The earth is round, when we look at the horizon, we are looking "into" clouds that are in the sky miles away. They aren't actually low clouds as they are painted here. But the blue canvas is nice.
I have a HUGE blank canvas of a lounge room after converting a double unit building into one big house, it has taken a Long long time. these will give me some great ideas, thanks when you see my vids you will see the state the loungeroom is it is gunna be gutted and everything new
So very nice you are very talented I really like the faux linen look. I saw you use a green several times that I really love can you tell me any thing about it I would love to get my hands on a gallon or two is it Paris green. One place you see it is at 1:19.
huskey8888: This is a custom color in a deep emerald green that I mixed myself using color tints. The color is actually a very transparent glaze flounced in two layers over a mint green satin finish base color. The second layer reads the deepest green and reveals the stripes. Hope this helps.
Lovely and refreshing....

I especially liked the Trick the Eye series. I couldnt tell on a couple--wondered if some were actual objects. Beautiful.

Hi Karla, thank you. All of the items on the green wall are painted trompe-l'oeil. Including the urn and the white and green plate. :)
