I have this same projector and have been very happy with it! I have a living room/home theater set-up with 106' electric screen. During the daytime, if the sun is not shinning in the windows I can get away with pulling the shades just part way, and the image is still bright, with good colour and contrast. Of course evenings are the best! An excellent 720p projector for the price!
I in the process of building a projector home theater in my basement, and planning on replacing a 52 hdtv. My only concern is that that the colors will look washed out when some of the lights are on. I know ideally you would want the lights turned off when watching a movie, but I also have a lot of football parties so i can't have the lights turned off. So basically my question is, would this be an ideal projector in all types of ambient circumstances?
Light does have a tendency to wash out the picture, but this projector has a feature called a "Light Harminizor" that helps correct the picture with light in the room. However, I have found that you can have some ambient light in the room without losing much of the color as long as the lighting is on the dim side and as long as you don't have any light reflecting off of you screen. In my situation I had two sconces installed at about the middle of the room on a dimmer switch,
