Oh my gosh, i have been searching for this song for years! It's a sad thing when you're searching for a song, and all you have is a small piece of the melody to go on. But, man it feels so good to have found this song:)
I think I like this Steve album Best of All because it was the one where here really started coming into his own before all of the hoopla...So many songs are so thoughtful, and deep, and honestly expressed...THE FIRST AMAZING STEVIE WONDER ALBUM!!!
how can you make a song so tragic, so beautiful, tender, inspiring, swinging, so pure and honest? how can I tell you all? in this world of so much fear and noise; how much I want to go back home; when Stevie in his darkness brought shining light to us. for real.
THIS SONG SAVED MY LIFE. I WAS GOING THROUGH LIFE ALTERING HEALTH CHANGES AND WAS TRULY DEPRESSED. ONE DAY, I WAS DRIVING AND THIS SONG CAME ON. I LISTEN TO THE WORDS, AND THEY PULLED ME OUT OF MY BLUE PERIOD. LYRICS AND MUSIC ARE HEALING AND NOW I AM THRIVING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS SONG IS IN HEAVY ROTATION ON MY PLAY LISTS.
I once saw an interview with Stevie Wonder, and the interviewer asked Stevie how many songs does he have in his head(that he wrote). Stevie replied, "thousands." Can you honestly imagine that? "Thousands," do you know how close to nearly impossible that is?
This man is definately a gift from God up above. I'm just so grateful for a musical genius such as Stevie Wonder for this lifetime.
When I saw Stevie Wonder for the first time during his last tour I thought of how much his music meant to me throughou tevery single year of my live and I started crying like a baby ...my sister was at the concert with me and she was like what is wrong with you,,, and all I could say was....I love Stevie Wonder so much !!!!! And I really, really do,,,
When this came out, there was else nothing like it. It has taken nearly 40 years for music to catch up with this tour de force. Amazing. And yes, the Main Ingredient version is beautifully transcendent. PS: I would love to see what would happen if Stevie worked again with the T.O.N.T.O group.
let's give credit to whom it truly belongs to. stevie was doing shit with music before lots. he will always be my man. all of his music holds specific time and memory in my life.
I absolutely love this album. It's my all time favorite by him. He really speaks to me on this album. The incredibly melodies, the amazing rhythms blended with his insatiable voice. 10/10 for sure!!!
When Motown calls Stevie Wonder a "genius," I must concur.
Stevie Wonder was one of the first American artists to explore synthesizers, extensively.
All instrumental sounds stand out - a plethora of different sounds -all at once - harmonically rich - but all one rhythm - meeting on the beat. Phenomenal.
Then - the lyrics - deep message in each song - presented most spectacularly.
Extra nasty because he transition your mood from disturbed to hope to a pose of inquisition. I hear him in my music without trying, he is pretty much embedded in my craft.
Never heard this until NOW! MADNESS! Instant favorite track in my life. I need to get the Music of My Mind on CD. Maybe itune it, because I know it's not an easy find.
I love how innovative stevie was with different sounds he tried WAY back then that people are just starting to really try (auto-tune to lesser effect though) now.
little girl your'e sad though all you've had is visible to you, within your heart there stays a part that like the sky is blue...
i am a 38 year old mother of three who was raised on stevie. he speaks to me like no other musician. male, female-black or white. he is transcendent. and i am grateful for his art and for his gifts.
@redscarletto1989 i respect music aficionados like you. it's a shame that in today's world, kids don't listen to music to be soul-lifted, or listen to particular music to be soul-lifted. rather they listen to it to be trendy, and if you're being trendy, you're not being honest to yourself. i could've listened to everything my brother listened to just to be in group of tastes, but it wasn't me at all and i said "i will be a metal-head, a Jamiroquai lover, and a progressive rock/metal nut" i.e. me
saw him do this live in chicago on sept 11 07 and the entire crowd, cept for me fell silent, cuz i knew all the words and this fucker next to me had the nerve to tell me to shush..but when the hits came on i returned the favor on his non singin ass..but steve did it him on talkbox and his 2 guitarists on talkbox acting as left & right just like the record...best song in the show..anybody else there that night at northerly island? can i get the amen..seeing him at summerfest in milaukee 6.28!
I love this song. So many woman are Blue (SAD) just because they are so afraid to let Yellow (Happiness) into their life. While these people who have hurt you have moved on, you are still crying tears for someone who never cared. Learn to forgive and let go, so that you can move on with your life. This is what Stevie was trying to say through this song.
Stevland appeals the the child within us all! I believe u regarding your little girl. The first song my son loved was Louis Armstrongs Jeepers Creepers!! At just 2 yrs he copped the humour in it? Now at 17 he is a Stevie guru!1
Um, this song came out in 1972, Pharrell might not have on the planet yet-
this song was so ahead of it's time-it's because of Stevie, Prince, Grand Master Flash, James Brown, Jimmy Hendrix and all the Musical Greats that Pharrell, Justin, and Timberland even exist!!!!
Whoa! You made one very big error on your statememt. James Brown started his career in 1953, Stevie in 1961. Now who was it that influenced who again? lol...get your facts str8 before you scream profoundrys on YouTube. the other artists you do have right. And Prince by the way is more a James Brown spit-out, not Stevie Wonder.
The James Brown part is right, but the Prince part isn't. Prince's defense for making any of his music how it was was always, "that's how Stevie did it, and how I'm going to do it".
This is now my favorite Stevie Wonder song and that's saying something. Because I love almost everything he's done. This song is happy and sad at the same time.
the beggining of this song is haunting...so haunting it makes you listen to it! this guy...man...I wanna disect his brain and implant his music dna in mine...haha!
