What is this bottle at 0:47 and this metal thing at the horse saddle at 1:46? Apparently this things have some special meaning and I'm wondering why.

1. The first one is a "snuff box" made of precious stone, such as jade etc. It is called HUURUG. The price of it can range from few hundred to hundreds of thousand dollars depending on the actual stone it is made of.

2. The second one is called BAAVAR. It is made of silver. It fixes the cushion (or the carpet) to the wooden saddle.

In brief, both signifies prosperity and integrity of a man. It is also said that people keep them for health reasons and thus as an asset.

@Huduuniih You seem to know abot this. Why do you use so high saddles?

And the very high back and front of the saddle. Is there some special reason for that? Or just comfortable? A horsearcher from Hungary claims that a saddle like that on 1.46 is neccesary for horse archery. I never understood why

I really do not know the answer to the question why we use this type of saddle. When we say saddle in Mongolian we mean what is shown on the video. A t the same time, I am sure our saddle has evolved over thousands of years. So, given our culture and lifestyle, we believe that the current version of Mongol saddle is the best saddle for us, our horses, and the way we ride horses.

Saddles used by Mongols differ a lot. For example , i am not sure but east mongols use low saddles, some khalkha mongols use high saddles because of the de style(or decoration...). High saddles look cool :) Because i have seen them... High saddles are easy to break apart when horse go crazy etc... It's difficult while riding on the horse.

For daily use , low saddles are prefereble.
