I am not a fan of 'reading out your paper at conferences' but where the person has language problems it may be their only hope of keeping cogent. At least then they stick to their argument. There is also something about the sharing of space/time with them and dedicating that time to attending to what they have to say in a way I would not ever find time to do so without that 'pedagogic control' over my activity.

This would have been much better as a dialogue or interview. Sitting down or whatever... I also agree on the lack of academic integrity and air of "smuggness" about it.

Very interesting talk. (As an aside, he's making a lot of sideswipes on what he calls 'bogus' theories, Maslow, NLP etc, I'd find it more enlightening if he referred back to the scientific method, or data, or research on this, so his viewpoint would be clearer).

Personally though I thought Donald's "pony image" funny I believe MLF is a force for good, and a courageous one at that. The 18/10/2010 Independent has a substantial and informative interview with MLF. Unfortunately. YouTube seems not permit me to post a link to it.
