"Will the world end in the night time? I really don't know. Or; Will the world end in the day time? I really don't know"
Possibly my most favorite lyrics of all time. I can remember when my grandfather was in the last days of his life I would think of those lyrics referring to death, even though they actually don't. They were comforting in a strange relateable sense and I would just remember "Stretch out and wait" for there was nothing I could do about it and that "nature must still find a way"
From below: I love how Morrissey sighs at the end and how Johnny Marr's guitar riff wraps up the song. Of course what makes this song is Andy Rouke's bassline. That is Manchester Soul through and through. Pity he's an underrated bassist. Even worse was Morrissey's contemptable treatment of Rouke. Finally, The World Won't Listen is my fav of the 3 compilation albums which were re-recorded. Second place goes to Louder Than Bombs. Hatful of Hollow I find stale with time though Still Ill rocks.
Continued from above. This is my favourite Smiths song of all time. This is my favourite version. I like the opening lyrics: "All the lies that you make up/What's at the back of your mind?/Your face I can see and it's desperately kind." Classic! I also like the production. I like the sound of the chilly wind which goes well with the line "Two icy cold hands conducting the way, it's the eskimo blood in my veins."

I've always liked this one. I thought it started out "On a high rise estate what's at the back of your mind?"

The other version starts that way.
