Could someone give me some details on how the flyer works??? I'm having trouble trying to wrap my mind around how the spool knows when to take up new yarn and how does it spread out on the bobbon with out bunching up in one spot? I'd LOVE to make my own spinning wheel but this part iiludes me to be sure!
Hey! I just searched for handspinning and found you! I'm having a total nightmare plying at the moment - can't get the tension anywhere near right :-(
I hear from Amos ( He wrote a book on spinning) to keep the plys under tension ( tensioned lazy kate ) and keep the Kate as FAR from the spinning orifice as possible. Also like Pixie is doing here, keeping a finger between plys helps. I find if I am doing a small amount I like to ply by hand spindle better than the wheel. Pixie love your videos!, grace
Hrmm it didn't really cause a problem but you know, the ashford has such a small bobbin it's not like it is making a huge ball so thats why I dont think its a problem. Might depend on how sticky the fiber is too!
Hi, so sorry I mixed your name up with Abby Franquemont who also spins. I really enjoyed your plying because I struggle with plying. What happens when the ball gets so small that the fibers start to fall inward? Thank you for the posting of this video!
