  • That makes a lot of sense..

    Thanks :-)

  • someone tell em to slow down the el train...lol

  • I went there about a week ago and hardly none of the trains you see in this video were running anymore. Almost all the trains I saw were all BNSF now.

  • @starguard

The "club" that runs this for the museum displays different eras in time. The era that was filmed here was to represent when Santa Fe and Burlington Northern merged and there were a lot of paint schemes w/mixed Roads. Now they are showing the "New" unified BNSF colors- with the slanted "racer" letters which is correct for 2011/12 era on the Empire Builder Route.

  • my best friends grandfather built those :)

  • wow that would be something id want in my loft its amazing#

  • nice video 5 stars, when i was there they had a 3 train wreck.

  • who keeps pushing a button at 5:05

  • is it a DCC layout? or standard DC

  • Museum of Science and Industry MODEL RAILROAD LAYOUT, thank you very much!

  • is this dcc or electrically separated dc

  • wow, that is the single most brilliant city scape I've ever seen modelled. The rest of the layout looks unreal too.

  • i got there about 1-2 times a month and a few times ive seen trains derailed at like switches and on corners, they have them running like 75 smph

  • nice layout man how big is it man nice trains btw get started on scenery soon

  • @Dawgie101 The "huff n puff" is supposed to be an excusion train running thru a small rural town.

  • Great video. This has to be my favorite layout of all time...so far!!

  • When did they get the Barfbonnet!?

  • They have had it for a while, it was used to represent 60's era consist. It is not on the layout at this time.

  • Not very accurate on their part, then. I wouldn't exactly call an SD70MAC "60's".lol

  • The museum runs a legacy train on the layout for special events and or holidays, but they have no plans to run all the trains on the entire layout as a specific era.

  • I was just going by what you said. The SD70MAC was first built in the early 90s (I want to say 1993), so using it as part of a 60s era consist would make no sense.lol

  • @fafnir, LOL, I thought you were talking about the A-B-B-A F units. If you are talking about the Barfbonnet @ 1:26 pulling the coal consist then I apologize for the mix up. I would image that particular loco was brought back in 08 since this video was downloaded back then.

  • I was actually talking about the lead locomotive at 5:01. BNSF put an experimental paint scheme on one of their SD70MACs when they were first starting. It essentially used a modified BN executive scheme with the Warbonnet design. Apparently, it didn't work too well, and railfans lovingly refer to this locomotive as the "Barfbonnet".lol

  • Ahh gotcha, now we are on the same page, I will see if I can find out whatever happen to it.

  • Yeah, sorry about that. I kind of foolishly assumed if I said "Barbonnet" people would automatically know what I was talking about.

  • I remember that museum when I was 7-10 in my hometown, Chicago. I miss home and Riding CTA Trains.

  • OK this video is great no dout, but the title I have a problem with, this is by far NOT a train SET dude......

  • i wonder how long it took to build that

  • probably atleast 1 to 2 years

  • i live in chicago i can go there al the time

  • where is this place

  • Museum of Science and Industry, South Side of Chicago.

  • Go chicago!

  • i mean set

  • every time i go there i look at the srt

  • i know. when i was there it was a mix of modern and the old days.

  • What place is this? Where is it located at?

  • Chicago Museum of Science and Industry!

  • LOL!!! they should fix that!

  • was that on the vid or on real life?? i was there 2 years ago and i saw the steamer go back and forth. is it the same you your talikingabout??? i think the train was in a urban area?

  • like $100 to $250 per train set and donn't forget the sereny

  • expensive

  • Great Video!, went to Chicago in 05' i remember going to see that.

  • Awsome, I just uploaded a shot I got there from last year.

  • Cool, I haven't been to the MSI Train Set in almost 15 years. :)
