  • I have this laptop and i'm sad =( I HATE ACER!

  • @topgearmad1 the ipad is a big and fat version of the ipod.. it has things that netbooks and laptops have..

  • @kiraham It has less. I hope that companies start making actual ideas intead of... MAKE THINGS BIGGER. --> DSI XL, Ipad...

  • Comment removed

  • no offence, but i really don't think that this should be compared to the macbook air on any dimention at all

  • You're quite right. But he may have meant that side of the netbook

  • I got my Acer Aspire One second hand a few days ago. Its been going fine for about 2 days, then over night i started it up and its taking about 3 times slower than usual, but also the sound has gone crackly and slow.

I don't know what to do.

I have done a virus scan with no threats found, and fragmented.

could it be the fact that hav just downloaded and installed about 5gb worth of stuff.

Also can you please make it so it doesnt remove all my stuff.

    ty

  • Do a system recovery with the System CD. Mine ran slow but after I did the recovery it's now normal and not slow

  • oonly problem is mine wont stay on for longer than a minute, even after i sent it into them for repair

  • Yup, wikipedia knows shit

  • I think the reviewer needs to do a little due dilligence. Like counting the USB ports. It has three.

It also has TWO memory card readers.

  • You can just look up the ports on Wikipedia...

  • How hard is to install Windows XP on a Aspire One,i've done it on Asus EEE 701 but is it the same? Just making a bootable USB n' stuff?

  • got my 8 gb ssd version at currys for 1745 boxing day :)

  • If you like acer check out this contest watch?v=QsD-ylEOvb0

  • Hey, I'm getting one of these soon, but I have some questions...

1- Is the keyboard uncomfortable ?

    2- Is the fan loud?

3- Does it get too hot ?

4- I don't think so but... would this be able to run WoW at maybe 30fps ?

    Thanks in advance!

  • the keyboard is LOVELY the key spacing is great aand its almost full size , unlike most net book keyboards its comfortable and easy to sue even with chubby fingers lol.

The fan is a bit noisy sometimes but the new bios update fixes that .

no , infact quite the opposite , it runs fairly cool but over compensates for cooling , this is fixed in new bios.

on the aspire one forum , people have run wow on it but i dont think u will get 30 fps out of it , it will run ok but not fantasticly. pm me :)

  • i have an acer aspire one and yes the keyboard is comfortable and no it does not get hot or make noise it is really qiet

  • you retard it has 3 usb ports. and one card slot is for sd the other is for other memory cards such as the ones in a psp or camera at the same time.

  • No it aint, it has TWO sd cards and the storage expansion can be used with any Sd cards so realy it has two SD card slots!

  • yea it does have 3 cause I HAVE ONE!!!

  • omg lol how that..

  • i have a acer aspire one and i think its great.

  • lol im watching about the aspire one ...on an aspire one!

  • SAME!!!

  • SAME!!!

  • lol me too! :)

  • what is the graphic card of the aspire acer ? is it high so i can play 3D games like silk road and cabal??? plz i need a fast and good answer

  • buy a $500 laptop instead. It's hard to control your char with that size of a keyboard if you have big hands like me.

  • Aspire One's have the intel gma 950 which takes a maximum of 224mb of system ram for video. So it will play some older games but nothing like Doom 3.

  • i have this laptop it's really good!

  • it is better then the mac air and cheaper it now am think i might want one of theys.

  • I called Acer...their new 160gig, 6-cell will be out the end of the month, Oct.31st and will arrived in stores (Best Buy, Fry's, Circuit city) couples days later for $399...This the Acer everybody is waiting for...u get more than the Dell Mini 9

  • I got the same one on Ebay for $320.

    Can't wait to get it!

  • yeah im gettin that for xmas =D

  • but what kind of graphics power does it have?

can you run 3ds max on it? some games in low resolution?

  • no games on it... get a laptop then

  • with windows; it runs HL1 smoothly and due to its tech specs it can run an optimized CS:source maps (no textures) at a steady 40 fps

when I get mine; ill be sure to post a gaming on the aspire one video so you can get an idea

  • he sed there was 4 colours what r they ive only seen the blue and the white 1

  • blue, white, black, and pink i think

  • there is a dark blue and brown one as well

  • The black bezel near the LCD screen even though shaded a different color than the rest of the netbook, makes it easier on the eyes being a dark color, and not a bright color starring back at you. I think it's convenient to have a black bezel.

  • Who ever came up with the idea to make the border of the screen glossy black needs to be shot. This thing should have been 100% white.

  • I live in Mexico and there is no avaliability for the Eee PC. I want this subnotebook because of it's small size and weight 0.99kg. Right now the power is a 3 cell battery unit but it can be replaced with a 6 Cell battery unit. I am very interested in the SSD hard drive model which I think is very silent. However I would like it to have Win XP since I would like to use a ATSC HDTV USB stick to watch TV in this device, anyone knows if XP can be installed?

  • Acer will come with Windows XP after the Linux version, and Asus Eee can be changed manually to XP

  • im about to buy one lol. they are Sickkkkk. i get it for 345$ beat it bitches and i get the 120gb version =]

  • 345? Hahaha i got mine on Ebay for 275 with 120gig an xp :) brand new in box,so i guess i beat it :D

  • niceee

  • its got 3 usb ports dumbass.

  • Gah, you beat me to the comment! I was hoping I'd get to point that out. still, In spirit of the video I have to add that I have an aspire one as of yesterday and I love it. it is the perfect mini laptop for any college student (who isnt in media)

  • Hey Guys!!! I just want to ask if there is a windows version of this one??? If there is a windows version of this one, is it still fast even it is in windows??? What do you prefer, the ASUS EeePC 900, or this ACER Aspire One... I hope it has a Windows Version... Thank you guys!!! I will wait for your answers... Please help me... Thanks...

  • There is a windows xp version. As for which is better, it's up for debate, but I'd go for this for the keyboard (slightly bigger, more conventional layout).

  • Looks like OS X doesn't have a have a spell check though :D

  • Owned. hard.

  • hahaahahahahahah

    lmaooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fail whale

  • OS X doesn't only have a spellchecker, but also a dictionary, thesaurus, japanese glossary and wikipedia lookup that works in ALL proper (Cocoa) programs.

  • So you are saying that OS X has everything apart from the thing you ACTUALLY NEED.

    Typical crApple.

  • It has everything that _I_ need. Not sure what _you_ need, except maybe glasses.

  • first of all, this video is about a machine not OS. showing off some unrelated features of an OS only makes you look like a douche. second, you obvious never experienced the power of linux. xubuntu (which is what i use) has all that, and it's free, open source, and can be installed on any machine.

  • For the record, I have been making Linux-based software for ten years, some of which powers the websites of several large European newspapers. I've also been using Ubuntu for my work desktop for many years, and now pushes open source use in the public services.

However that does not make me such a zealot that I need to spread false information (not to say lies) about other systems. simond10 claims OS X doesn't have a spellchecker -- it does, and it smokes any of the jury-rigged hacks in Linux.

  • fine, i was wrong for not ensuring OSX's feature, and lashed out with possibly false reference to xubuntu's feature that i thought was equivalent. but you are still a douche bag for being an arrogant apple fanboy, and posts off-topic comments.

  • Actually I was nominated for the Free Software Award in Norway two years ago.

Now, besides slander, muck-slinging, name-calling and spreading false information -- what have _you_ done for the open source community lately?

    Thought so.

  • i lost interest. what do you expect from someone who uses the term "douche bag" to conclude an argument? since when was i trying to compete against you? aren't you just arrogantly showing off? you are like picking on a random kid on the street and say something like "hey i did all this for my community, what did you do?". ironically, i found an error and offered solution for a project on google code a few weeks back. and submitted a piece of python to a google group yesterday. but hey, i lose.

  • just to make things clear. when i say "i lost interest.", i meant lost interest arguing in here. this off-topic argument is dragging too long. you know what? despite what i said, i'd like to show respect to your programming experience as well as your achievements. bye!

  • Also, many of those extolling Linux' virtues have hardly used any other system for years and base their feature comparisons on conceited preconceptions, myths and rumours but very little practical experience and factual knowledge (this includes you, who obviously has never seen the dictionary features in OS X since you claim Xubuntu can do the same).

  • £199, this price is everyone but the damn thing ain't available.

  • mine's an aspire 5680

  • mine's an Aspire 5601, but Im gonna get this as a secondary laptop, because it's way more mobile.

  • 3 USB ports not 2...

  • the windows version has 3

  • i've got Acer Aspire 5300!

  • not a fan of that ugly black border!

reminds me of the eee 701

  • ACK !

It makes the display look smaller

  • when and where can i buy this magic gadget

  • Well, that was a fast review. But thx anyway!

8GB SSD is to small for me, is there an option to up/down- grade the HDD to the normal 2,5 HDD -->80GB ??!!

    Thx

  • does it have a built in webcam like the asus?

  • Yes, although it's a 0.3 megapixle instead of a 1.3 but oh well, £199!

  • eeeee pppccccc 1000

  • omg! how small and cute! i totally love it!

    must save us 200 quid!

  • y linux??

  • y not ?

  • ???

  • becuase linux is small, efective, runs way fater than windows, is immune to viruses and is far more customisable and easy to use. there u go u faggot!

  • cheap?! it's free! for something that's totally free its amazing! it can do basically everything that you need to do so i dunno y everyone is being so harsh about linux

  • useless? most people use their computers to surf web, check email and listen to music at times and this seems to do all that....if you're not a gamer this looks great but even the asus eee had people tweaking some games to get them working

  • Because it doesn't suck. ;)

  • What processor does this run on? Intel Atom 1.6GHz or a crappy Via :)

Looks like a damn sweet sub-note for £199!

    I want!

  • It runs on a....on a...*dun dun dun* Intel's Atom 1.6GHz!

  • Thanks for clearing that up xD
