  • Great Job!

  • In unofficial sparring I usually go for the point rather than the knockout especially since its less energy consuming. But in a real tournament does it matter whether or not I put power behind my hits and point takers.

  • @six6sixpounder If you seriously believe that karaté kicks are stronger than tae kwon do kicks, then you got your facts all wrong. I've done both Karate and Tae Kwon Do. I'm probably biased because I've done Tkd since I was 9, but a fact is that karate kicks are NOTHING compared to a Tkd kick.

  • @RyuuRenkin actualy taekwondo and karate are very similar martial arts, so much so that taekwondo can also be called korean karate. now becoz of olympic sparring taekwondo has become more of a sport. buh originaly they were pretty much the same martial art. taekwondo = karate

buh maybe nowadays karate training is better and more effective becoz as i sed taekwondo has evolved into sport :(

  • @aaronharun When you take out certain moves from the sport like punches to the face and etc. You learn to perfect everything else. I do Muay Thai and I do boxing with no kicks to improve my boxing and vice versa. Its like taking away someones sense of sight, when this happens it hightens the sense of hearing.

  • @chaeguevarakorean yes buh nowadays many tkd skls dnt teach proper taekwondo, sum skls will only teach u olympic style. ur training is so that u perfect a certain thing, like ur boxing is obviously gona get beta if u have a few sessions only focusing on that. however wat if ur skl only does body punches? (olympic rules) the martial art of taekwondo has been dumbed down as well as many others. kumite in karate spars with only body punches as well buh its not as dumbed down as tkd

  • I thought that Yi Dan(or what i forgot) must change the left leg as fast as his right leg step to the front 0:17

  • I lol'ed at their stances. How do you get any power from that? You cant. You cant fire a canon from a kayak.

  • hye.. i have serious problem here.. i love to do front leg round house kick in sparring.. but my front leg is weak.. can anyone here tell me how to improve my front leg round house kick especially its power

  • @luq080290 flex and kick again n again n frog jump

  • @luq080290 take a step before doing front leg roundhouse. This gives you more power compared to skip-in-roundhouse

  • @luq080290

how about practicing with that leg only

  • @luq080290 Sang H. Kim posted a video reply to your question - look for the link on this page.

  • @luq080290 Ask your master how to do a front snap, without moving your back leg

  • @luq080290 whenever your kicking your bag only use your lead leg work on speed, technique, and power seperately. Also try doing the kicks in slow motion for your muscle memory. When your lead leg kicks improve you WILL notice!! I had the same problem but with alot of practice I corrected that in a few weeks.

  • This is why you don't kick with the foot but rather the shin. Then you can kick any part of the body without issue.

  • @iApna taekwondo is about speed, you dont get speed or a clear point if you use your shin

  • @chooseit2 Lol yeah, but would you rather get slapped or hit in the face by a hammer?...food for thought.

  • @six6sixpounder id rather duck, then attack.

  • @chooseit2 So you'll just keep ducking until the attacker decides to leave? No. you have to attack eventualy if you want to end the fight.

  • @six6sixpounder can you read, i said duck then attack, my opponent can't keep swinging a hammer, there will always be a window of opportunity, for me to attack (in between his swings)

  • @chooseit2 My mistake, but the fact that im replying is evidence I can read. And that was a metaphor. TKD are no more than a slap, that is all.

  • @six6sixpounder if your saying that taekwondo has weak kicks because of a bad experience then i advise you to visit korea, i'v personally fought koreans trained at top universities and i can say that there kicks are in no way weak

  • @chooseit2 I shouldve been more clear, sorry, I was being over the top. The kicks hurt, obviously, but theyre not as powerfull as karate kicks. And thats not opinion, thats science.

  • @six6sixpounder i see no point in arguing any further, you're entitled to an opinion as am i, lets just leave it at that

  • @chooseit2 *Tips hat and walks away*

  • Open and closed stance attacks are what the WTF have over the ITF.

  • Ant THIS needs to be particularly taught???

  • @grozde em yea? many black belts still do it wrong thats y tkd is a terrific martial art because you can do many mistakes eve if ur the best, not like mma, in a week u can learn it and be like anyother

  • @enginetai

PLEASE! This doesn't require a black belt, simply being awake is enough!

I mean, some things are self-evident and don't need to be taught. Next thing you're going to say is that people need separate lessons to remind them not to hit their heads with their own punches!!!

  • @grozde look at those sitting watching they have no idea how they are going to perform it, im just saying many do not know this kick, i know this and u know and many others know it

  • also, if someone says that just because someone is teaching you how to "score points" in WTF events that does not mean that the techniques can not kill someone and are not legit techniques. take an american TKD hall of famer like juan moreno. the techniques he used to take two silver medals in the olympics are easily deadly techniques. you cant tell me that one of the head kicks he does would not kill someone or one of the back kicks he does to the chest wouldn't break ribs and kill someone

  • @fifeg no offense but in a real fight out in the street(with knife or something)you wont have the time to do a head kick or a back kick...i am a tkd practitioner many years and i love that martial art.but the way they are teaching today is a sport, not an art(at least in my country).

  • @fifeg

Martial arts/sports differs mainly in their tactics, strategy and approach to the fight. With a "TKD kick" (whatever that is) you MIGHT kill someone, but the strategy/approach to fighting of modern day TKD (at least WTF version) is absolutely useless on the street/in a real life situation. That's the point.

  • in reference to people who say that Olympic TKD is not an effective fighting system let me tell you that people do die even in the rule constrained WTF rules competitions. most recently a novice level competitor in singapore this last summer (2009). when i was competing at the 1999 US Open in Anaheim I witnessed a euro athlete die in the competition "ring". while conducting research in korea in 2006 there were people who informed me that the year before a TKD athlete died at at KTA event

  • i found this out the hard way. it hurts and you get a huge bruise on your shin or foot.

  • i found this out the hard way. it hurts and you get a huge bruise on your shin or foot.

  • LOl @ kindey shots- "ouch"?nahh no ouch.

nahh just destroyed body stomach or kidney side

  • lol, isnt he showing them that they'll hit the elbow in that way? and not the kidney.

  • I'd love to be good at this sport

  • Its a martial art not a sport =)

  • Lmao riiiiiight haha

  • also if your stance i the opposite side to your opponents you can use a skip side kick with your front leg

  • hes my teacher and when i first sparred a person my age a made him cry so i couldnt kick i could only block =\

  • hahaha ouchie!

  • simple is the best! now modern tkd u can score on the back too though ,the new hogus cover the back side and points canbe scored pretty much all around the chest and back. still it will hurt as he said though cuz i guess u sometimes will kick their elbows lol! that hurts the instep a lottt

  • turn your hip an u will not hit the elbow lol

  • NIce video. simple, short and precise.

  • wow great videos! im gonna try these moves out on my first sparring match

  • Incredibly effective demonstration. Translates across many martial arts styles. Everyone can learn from this Master.

  • hes a good teacher

  • i was gonna say that too

  • He is an awesome teacher! I am a second degree black belt in TKD. Master Kim used to be my saboomnim when I lived in CT. I have the greatest respect for him. There is much more than meets the eye here. Non of us (including higher level belts) could touch him, and we tried our best. He lives and instills impeccable discipline. He is also well respected world wide. His videos are very explicit and that facilitates comprehension of the movements and the necessary body controls for them.

  • @JazzBoricua My instructor's name is also Master Kim :D But he is In Wan Kim. :)

  • ahh interesting. its like he does a stepping roundhouse. It looks close to a step in side kick

  • did he say OUCHIE?

  • these are great tips for sparring

  • Great:) tnx man now i get it ^^ Im begginer in Tae Kwon Do and i always got myself hurt but you showed me the trick so tnx again^,,^

  • cool
