(0) if the gap on r/r tracks was not there, across country tract set would exspand 10 miles out into the bay. looks like a question of balance, in this case. the heat sorce is only on one side. and this is the cause of this problem. a pyrex glass tube, mirrored on the inside 180 degrees, will focus a light line on the back side of the tube. heating it evenly. if evcated the all the heat will stay on the tube. but still will grow in it lenght. i built a collector, and just in day sun got 210.F.
I invented a breakthrough energy source which violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation. Making a 6kW generator will cost $1200 in mass production, value of the energy produced yearly $5400.
sounds like soulsearcher has a decent budget to work with. maybe the poster doesn't have as much? i don't know. it would be useful to know what the budget is. of course, if the sky is the limit, there would be evacuated tubes housing black ceramic pipes. most places use water or refrigerant for the heat exchange fluid. pressure isn't as much of an issue there maybe? the housing never has to see the light of day, so you can reinforce the entire turbine loop with a ton of cheap, thick stuff?
We're working on a solar concentrator that's well above 1200c. Our material selection is a bit more exotic with ceramics involved. The problem is finding a suitable heat transfer fluid. Even with the exotic materials our design is very cost effective and a great deal less space required for the same energy output.
Water feeding is made from a 3m high tank, tube is open at it´s end. So pressure is not the cause of the bending; we believe that bending is caused in the 2 phase stratified region where water HTC is greater than that of steam. We have not made pressure meassures yet.
n wilke and poster. i agree that 10 kw is awfully small. i don't know why anyone would try to increase efficiency with direct steam. this would require a balance chamber and would increase water volume= thermal loss and not gain. what lattitude/climate is this located in? and by the way..nice contribution... and the conducter pipe? steal alloy or purified iron? ever thought maybe a better idea to increas it's diameter? oval extrude? or possibly bundle several pipes?
you generally have to pump under pressure and you have to have a sensor and control mechanism as well as.. there is not point heating water beyond 800 degrees celsius .. that is all the heat h2o can hold .. and triing to maintain the machinery at 800 degrees celsius + is very very expensive -- we are building a similar system and our target operating tempature is just 200 degrees celsius .. 1 square meter focused to 4 cm -- you guys are nuts
I'm no professor, just a guy from the USA interested in this stuff. Do you work at UNAM? What material is the receiver pipe made of? That may be a huge source of efficiency loss. I assume bending didn't occur with oil. Also, how much did you experiment with the pump speed when you were using oil? Perhaps the oil was heated well enough to pump it faster, thereby increasing the temperature at the exchanger. Do you have a site with more information about this project?
The output with oil was only 10kw? Are there 16 modules each 15 meters long? As in 240 meters long for 10kw? If that were the case, this system is only about 1% efficient. 2.5m x 15m long x 16 units = 600 sq m x 1.36kw/sq m = 816 kw available 10kw/816kw=1.2% effficient
You´re right on target, we got 1 to 2% overall efficience. We leaved the project of generating electricity because of the scarcity of founds and we focused our attention in building specular parabolic surfaces and testing materials with Direct Steam Generation (DSG). Personally I have worked these two topics. Soon I will upload another video, not as spectacular like this but perhaps more ilustrative of the 2 phase problem. By the way, are you a professor? maybe german, spanish? Regards
how wide is the collector area? what is the diameter of the pipe? is the pipe outlet open or is it connected to a turbine of some sort? if it is connected to a turbine, how much power does it produce? all these questions could help me assess what may be wrong with this design.
Collector area is 2.5 m wide x 15 m long, pipe diameter is 1 1/2". Pipe outlet is directly to the atmosphere, inlet water is feeded from a 2.5 m high cold water tank, no pressure. Some years ago this collector was used to heat thermal oil to exchange heat and then generate steam. The overall system has 16 modules 2.5 x 15 and the nominal production was 10 kW. Now we are trying with direct steam generation.
Yes, just steam generated at nearly 1.5 atm. Cold water is introduced at one extreme of the tube. Concentrator is 15 m long and bending is observed at 6 m from the water inlet

I am looking for $6M for a prototype and patents.

Molten sodium metal may be the best bet. I suspect you know this.

Cual es el material reflectivo que estan utilizando, cual es la distancia focal? tienes mas videos?
donde estan haciendo las investigaciones de esta tecnologia, o donde se puede encontrar mas informacion sobre los concentradores solares
Saludos

molten salt isn't a bad idea. as long as the pipes can take it, the hotter the better. nobody ever said anything about h2o at 800 celsius.

Yes, it is. Real steel tube is shown bending. The tube is supported only by the screws shown in the scene.
