@BUDDYSHADOW The original Christie Minstrels were a popular singing group that toured the country just before and after the Civil War. They sang traditional American folk songs and had rights to sing the first performances of many Steven Foster songs. Randy Sparks wanted refer to that kind of group when he formed his new group.
Left 4 Dead 2 puts the zombie collection to a completely new level. It's very seriously the most gruesome thing we have ever tried. If you haven't got it and tried it up to this point, look to L4D2dlXcom (replace X with . ). These people now have it for absolutely free there!
I got the treat of a lifetime on Oct 22, 2009when I went to The New Christy Minstrels concert in Greeneville TN... and they put on a fabulous show... the 60's what an era for music.... God bless them all
He woudnt be alone in adapting a trad song and it may have been subconscios........in a parallel universe Gene is a superstar and they play this clip on one of those Before They Were Famous type shows
Gene and Randy Sparks had their differences but I believe that what Gene learned from TNCM and Sparks made all the difference and The Byrds great sound. Gene's poetic lyrics go:
great song,thanks for posting

@BUDDYSHADOW the name comes from the group in the 19th century that had the rights for first performance of Steven Foster's songs.

Gene and Randy Sparks had their differences but I believe that what Gene learned from TNCM and Sparks made all the difference and The Byrds great sound. Gene's poetic lyrics go:
Have you seen the silver raven?
she has wings and she can fly
far above the darkened water
far above the troubled sky
He definitely kept the NCM with him.

Was this song in the back of Genes mind when he wrote Siver Raven?

Thats a very astute question. Not just the song but the story and lyrics:
Have you seen her in the moonlight,
Silver rings upon her hand?
Now she wears a crown of sorrow
And her name, and her name is Julianne

Wow! I'm sorry about your Dad. I would've never recognized Gene Clark in that haircut and the suit.
