For a second there, I thought the title and info were bsing me, but I finally hear Ville's voice at3:48! Everything else is Dani and I pretty much know his voice since I listen to cradle of filth, all of their albums forever!
I used to wonder why I actually listened to COF at one point in time. I remember thinking Dani's voice was ridiculous and the music too gothic, but something drew me to them. The lyrics are poetry and that's why I was drawn to them. To this day, I don't care for their sound. However, I'll be damned if I don't croon over the words.
Wow HIM and COF not the biggest fan of HIM but they're okay. I like how COF used to be on MTV all the time and HIM used to be on MTV but just for Bam no music allowed. WTF!
Cradle of Filth and HIM collaborating...wow. i never thought they would. very happy they did though. a perfectly wonderful song, been my favorite since i heard it.
i love all these types of song, all the #5 track songs, like this Byronic Man, was #5 on the thornography album, and Assinthe with Faust is #5 on nymphetamine album, and Persecution Song #5 on the new Darkly Darkly venus aversa album, i like how they arrange their music, like chapters in a book
Wow, I must say I'm impressed! As a classics nerd, I have to say that Cradle of Filth has proved themselves to be very well versed and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere and lyrics were a spectacular portrayal of Lord Byron! I applaud their choice of guest vocalist too--Valo's clean/harmonious vocals were also an awesome choice of a modern-day Byron, and a great contrast to Dani's raw energy.
Okay, I'm going to stop geeking out now, but seriously, pure awesome and old-time romantic.
@OwarinaiMuimi If you think this shows Cradle's knowledge of classics, run and buy damnation and a day. Or cruelty and the beast, or godspeed. You will be surprised 1) by his use of verse, iambic and dactyllic, and the sheer amount of allusions he makes and the sources he draws on.
Damnit! I hate this album but yet everytime i listen to one of the songs on it i end up enjoying it... i don't know if thats a good or bad thing but i surely am starting to like it ^.^
I Love Both COF and HIM and I Think They are a Perfect Mix To Creating a Dark Masterpiece Like This One. I Hope They Do More Songs Together In The Future.. That Would Be Awesome!
This song is the reason I get pissed at all the snivveling nostalgic "fans" who do nothing but bash thorn, godspeed, darkly, and even damnation the whole time pissing about how much they miss "the old days" and supposedly "true cradle"
no matter what era, album, song, whatever-none of it makes any difference. Cradle fucking rock! Love em forever!
@spraypaintbcoolz fuck yea! i hate people bashing on CoF like that, every album kicks ass, if you doin.t like what you listening to change the god damn music. One must truly consider the works of an artist equally and unbiased. this song is fucking awesome, when i listen to this album i usually flip to track #5 first, then lovesick for mina
I remember thinking back then that this was the end of Cradle of Filth but then they made Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder: The Life and Crimes of Gilles de Rais and I was more at ease. Welcome back Cradle of Filth.
@TheKuroiSheep Godspeed was an amazing album. It was like watching a movie. i hadnt had that much fun disecting one of their albums since cruely and the beast.
@DonadeusMostart7: Although I'm not saying that it was all bad. I really like Gabrielle and Swansong for a Raven. A couple of entertaining tales and of course a good, dark sound from each. I really enjoy the lyrics in Coffin Fodder. It has to be one of the lightest song I'm into by Cradle of Filth. The same goes for Filthy Little Secret. It was pretty good. Painting Flowers White... is a masterpiece. And Nymphetamine (Overdose) is excellent; its heavy, dark, and I also enjoy the slow part.
I don't know what happened to Cradle of Filth during the Nymphetamine - Thornography era. Maybe they were creatively exhausted after making an album as great as Damnation and a Day?
@Imiface: Nymphetamine was better than Thornography, yes, but still not that good. The lyrics were cliche and more shallow than anything before it. The music got suddenly lighter and brighter, and they started doing Heavy Metal. Yes, Nymphetamine is great compared to most most music in the world, but comparing to their other works they hit a snag. I am a big fan of Coffin Fodder though. (:
@TheKuroiSheep I think Nymphetamine was their best album in the after-Midian era. Coffin Fodder, Swansong for a Raven (that intro, wow!), Gabrielle, Gilded Cunt, etc, great songs. Of course it's nowhere compared to for example Cruelty and the Beast (I'm Hungarian, so I'm glad that they wrote an album about Erzsébet Báthory, who was Hungarian ).
@Imiface: I suppose we can agree to disagree. Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder was far better than Nymphetamine, Imo. &then Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa came out. Then again, Im more inclined to like a song for lyrics more than the sound. I enjoy the tales of each album. But I do sense a shift when it comes to sound too. And for both lyrics and sound, Nymphetamine and Thornography hit an all teim low with me. It seems to me they hit a low at that point in both areas.
@TheKuroiSheep i gotta give them credit for nymphetamine bc that was the single that introduced me to their music. after hearing that album I immediately went in search of all ther other music. Ive been hooked since then. So those 2 albums did serve a purpose. they may have helped to bring in other fans like myself.
@DonadeusMostart7: I'm not only referring to the song {Which was never a single, at least not the good, original version} but the album as a whole. Which was less than impressive, indeed. It was not only the shallow, cliche lyrics but also it was that their music got a lot {a lot a lot d:} less dark and less heavy, and their use of Heavy Metal.
I don't know what happened to Cradle of Filth during the Nymphetamine - Thornography era. Maybe they were creatively exhausted after making an album as great as Damnation and a Day. I remember thinking back then that this was the end of Cradle of Filth. But then they made Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder {The life and crimes of Gilles de Rais} and I was more at ease. I have really changed my opinion on the album, "Thornography", at first I decided it was their least amazing, but still amazing nonetheless, I now think it is just a dint more emotionally written than the others...
I love the lyrics... just amazing how they play with words... Ville his warm voices fits in beside Danni's harsh and cold one It brings a strange kind of harmony to it.
"'the patron saint of heartache" really fits Ville... I could have come from one of his bands songs...
This is an amazing song. I hate that people keep saying Dani "Lost" his voice for this album. He didn't. His voice is amazing. He just put a lot of emotion into the tone of his voice for this song. I think it's flooring how he was able to combine his usual vocal artwork, with this new emotional twist. I hope to see more of it in the future.
Dani Filth has always been a lyrical genus, but he has really lost his voice. What was he thinking when he released these songs with clean vocals, they sound terrible. Overall a decent song.
@nicoruetters Yes song is nice I like iit a lot, but plis stop acting like a child with "666" "ave satan" and other craps. If you don't believe in God and believe in satan means you are such a big idiot cos it's not logical. I respect all religions, rly, but "666" is a childish crap xD
@nicoruetters I'm not teacher you know lol? Teaching you wasn't my intention... I just said my opinion that's the point, and nice if you are learning only from older ppl... For me (that's again my point) I love to learn life from everyone even from kids which see sometimes more then adult ppl... We are learning whole time in any age you know? Ohh wait maybe you are genious or too dumb and closed for see something more then your own mind, peace mature OLD guy ;)
@polishgirl888 whoa, whoa, whoa! keep the peace. peace and love my friend. maybe there's a reason he has "666 ave satan"? i do this all the time on facebook, make it like a letter with "The Freak" at the end, only because my brother's ex called me a freak one time, so i took it as my name and as a middle finger. but i cant say for certain what his reason, just lettin you know to cool down, k?
@nicoruetters Sure, anyway let's just say you are for me a silly guy and I'm for you immature, I really don't mind and won't talk anymore about this. Ohh and to macfreak18... cool story bro xD

@polishgirl888
you with your 20 years of age really won't teach me how to act, don't you?
I think YOU are the one with childish behaviour! Pretending to have some wisdom by teaching older persons is immature and not recommended. Grow up!!!
