The 1993 vhs show is superior.Firstly the added keyboard sound really makes this song. Also the sound the group got from their guitars in the early 1990's was brilliant. I say this as a fan. Only my subjective opinion.
...great song, and Jason does such a good hard rock drumming for this, so good....this is one of the best songs they have.....and better than anything the lame Smiths could do....they crapped out after a few years, Cure is going strong almost 30 years later....now that is a band AND play 3 hour concerts!....

greyagain, sorry THE SMITHS still are the best band in the world even if they're not around anymore (Viva Moz!).... THE CURE the 2nd best band in the world.
Beatiful performance...Jason Cooper is the best thing that happened to The Cure.....and Porl is such an amazing guitar player....best reincarnation of the band ever!
lol... you're the first person I've seen on here who complements Jason Cooper. Everyone else says he sucks and they miss Boris.
I think Jason is a damn good drummer, but I like Boris's drumming style more. However, Boris was with The Cure when they were in their prime and they sounded much different back then than they do now...
This was released on their (four songs) Quadpus 12" EP back in 1986.
I own this puppy with great pride.
Disintegration came 3 years later.
It's sad, so many great bands from the 80's who released dozens of albums received no recognition from the N.American music academy back in the day. Now any yahoo today can get 5 nominations for a single song.
Both disturbing and pathetic. Well, that's my rant for today.
Being a Curehead since spring of '86 and seeing them for the first time at the University of Minnesota's Northrup Auditorium in August '86, hot damned, if this isn't one of the most massive attempts by The Cure at "A Night Like This", then crap on it - The Cure always gets away with altering their songs live. Stop your bitching people!
One of my alltime fav Cure songs. This rendition had some rocky spots, including the drummer ruining the approach of the intro, as was previously noted. That and Bobbie fluffing the lyrics here & there. I do like this song amped up though, as it's a powerful song that's propelled by a very strong bassline and rhythm. Check out the album version on an iPod with good headphones to see the difference in the approach of the intro. It really changes the impact of the first downward swing of the bass.
Oh my God!!! I cant' wait to see them at Red Rocks in Colorado on Wednesday. I could pee myself haha. It'll be my first time seeing them after waiting 17 years to do so. Deep breaths haha.
I like the studio version of this song, but I also like this one because I think Robert's guitar solo fits the athmosphere of it better than the sax in the original version.
and btw, Jason totally ruined the beginning of the songs where only the keyboards, in this cas the guitars, should be the only one to be played. But Mr. Cooper always plays the cymbals again and again spoling the feeling of this great song...
I saw them 3 times on the Cure 4 Tour and can simply say that this is the best live band around(except Tuxedomoon). Saw them in Stockholm, Oslo and Berlin.
Robert is so amazing he is the only singer that i know that hasn't changed so much his appearence since ealier, and he still got the most beatiful male voice thats incredible
His songs never die and always ring true...even after all these years, they still sound so fresh and "big" just like the first time I heard them...simply amazing.
Since I was 17 (long time ago, and THe Cure was at their second album this group is the best out there.... I always loved the deep message behind each song.
Charlotte sometimes, Faith, Hanging garden, Boys don't cry and the list goes on and on
This whole DVD is so great. Everytime i watch Just Like Heaven on the festival DVD it brings me to the verge of tears. The part when Robert says "your just like a dream" and then porl goes into the solo and everything goes to a white tint, it just makes me awestrucken
Wow....Robert Smith compositions are so good they can be done with a full music orchestra or stripped down to guitar-bass-drum as shown here...that's when a song is a good song.
