Thats a fairly pretty place you have there. I play on the Minecraft.in server also known as the Aperture Games community server. AGMC. the guys i play with had recently started building a max size mob grinder, but as we got about 1/3 done with the project we decided that diminishing returns wouldnt really yeild that many more mobs, so we decided to turn the "refinery" into a place for every type of farm. we built it on top of a large body of water and now we have a very functional squid farm too

@MH5tube u place a layer of dirt at the top, place water on all the dirt blocks until none of the water is flowing, then just dig away at the dirt, and it will all fall down to make an aquarium. =)

i always wanted to do this on my server but my server is 60% oceon so the squids

never spawn in my fish tank

@mackazonia they didn't spawn in the tank. as the comment at the very top says the maker of this made a channel all the way from the ocean through which all the squids came in. They were probably cought in the water current or something

You know, I hope Notch updates the squid and allows them to swim UP again. I love the squid but it's kind of dumb that they go to the bottom and stay there. Real squid don't do that. I was trying to lure over a squid to my place but I accidently killed him. T_T My poor little Squiggles.

I will tell people how to make aquariums easily.

Hack yourself some ice blocks using INVedit or Single Player Commands, google them if you don't have them

Line the top of the pool with these blocks where you want the very surface to be.

Then, BREAK THE ICE. It creates a source block of ice to flow downwards, effectively covering the whole aquarium. If you have small acloves, line the surface area with ice and break that as well.

how do you get squids to spawn? do they aprear in man made bodies of water or do you have to move them from the ocean?

@Jugler4 Ocean and Man water are the same, they spawn within Water Blocks. There is no difference in these separately made bodies of water. if squids refuse to spawn, exit and re-enter the world, that makes a fresh batch of squid for you.

@sporecreatorperson i have done that i made a thing of water about 4 days ago (real days) and there is still no squids, its been about 10-15 minecraft days and it is big enough, does it have to have an opening, becuase mine is completely closed off.
