  • Good tune! Its fretless because its played in the style of the Oud instrument :)

  • I don't like this ... Sounds as crap to me ...

  • @jackofalltricks like your spelling Eh? try opening your mind sometime

  • awesome, i luv Turkish music

  • brillant nice sound, cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • It's so nice

  • where can i find tabs ??

  • @kirk649 there are tabs, you should use your ears..

  • @kirk649 there are no tabs to this because fretless guitar's frequencies are not are not as precise as a typical guitar. Sometimes it happens on the fretted guitars when string gets too old or frets get eroded as they get old

it is considered as a malfunction in the guitar but it is used in the fretless one

So basically when you tune your guitar with a tuner , you'll realize that there is an additional six notes in each half step.

Fretless guitar has 5 times more notes than a typical guitar.

  • @SFU21 that is, in fact, false since there are infinitely more tones on fretless instruments compared to those playing only tempered tones like piano or guitar (for those who don't bend strings)

  • @rioted That is , in fact , "mathematically untrue". A string which has a definitive length cannot have an infinite number of notes. In fact , A thing that has definitive something generally cannot have an infinite number of anything. (Exeptions cannot overrule)

There are six more notes each half step for "Turkish Folk Music" use. There are of course , more notes and they can be used for different scales , modes...

    But it's not infinite. :)

  • @SFU21 How many dots can you place on a line?

  • @glarcinn certainly not infinite...

  • @kirk649 The tabs are easy,there aren't any frets,so the tabs are 0-0-0-0-0-0

  • @kirk649 middle east music isnt in pythagorian scale, so no tabs, sorry. just use your ear.

  • @kirk649 Tabs for a fretless guitar? I hope you were being sarcastic :')

  • @Bujar1961 i think this is the very first time I've heard that an albanian swears to turkey. could you please tell me the reason why?

  • says its off near the beggining but if u beleive in karma its a good place for his only mistake

  • Comment removed

  • @madmedivh--Great point but, As a musician, I dont hear any mistakes at the beggining. In fact I actually like the way it sounds (dramatic or more dramatic, which how it should sound). The (so called mistake) note, is whats referred to" diminished note" which is half step lower than the normal radiff or scale of the song hence it sounds a bit off. This entire piece is like that. I guess beauty of sound is in the ear of the listener.

    Beautifully played by master musician.

  • arabs and turks are brothers in culture religon and history!

  • @Bujar1961 haha fuck only u

  • I really liked it when the other guitarist came in, it has really nice chords. It's gotta be hard playing that guitar, but it sounds nice though.

Do you know the name of this song by chance?

  • @williamperry11 buyuk cevizin dibi, this is a traditional folk song.

  • @hacibaba00 thank you. ive another question theres a turkish folk guitar. looks like a banjo. do you know its name? some have 12 strings as well

  • @williamperry11 he is Erkan Oğur, many many years ago! now he s the Masterpiece of the jazz and folk music.

  • whats the name of song ?

  • no description available

  • Is this gentleman kurdish by chance?

  • @moqutpar is it important? i don't know his ethnic id, but probably he is not.

  • @moqutpar Turkish.

  • @moqutpar

Nope, he is not. But does it matter?

  • @MyTubeBerko Only matters to me because my father was kurdish and the music he used to listen to was very similar... outside of that no it does not matter he could be chinese for all I care

  • @moqutpar

He is a musician at all

  • @moqutpar

    he is not.stupid question though.

  • I think fenix9885 means 'middle eastern' by arab. and he's right about you guys picking a fight over nothing. relax ppl

  • he invented the fretless guitar i read

  • thats so awesome

  • This music is free.

  • Erkan Ogur is a master fretless guitar player . I've been reading the comments that about him. He is Turk and this is not a fact but his music is all about anatolia . Who can say Turks and arabs has a same history. We have different cultures and music. Oriantel is arabic . Have you ever heard Turkish art music ?? Probably not . At least you wd not show your ignorence on music and history .. stay in peace'n love and read some about Turkish culture and art...

  • Beautiful music, great.....

  • Spectacullar song !!! Anybody knows the chords of the guitar with frets??

  • metinander senin niyetin uzum yemek falan degil,bBosver takma kafana!! def calmayi dene, yada el cirp

  • does any one know how i can get this on limewire

  • @afronnopoulos you can't find this version, but maybe you can find the album version. search for ''buyuk cevizin dibi'' and artist name is erkan ogur.

  • @afronnopoulos you can dl the video from youtube then convert it to mp3

  • dede

  • abi bu nasıl birşeydir anasını satayım,resmen ruh halimi ezdi geçti

  • Tá sé sin go hiontach ar fad.

  • Aferim.

  • What is this song called??

  • buyuk cevizin dibi

  • say that five times fast eh? :P

  • batı, gitar nasıl çalınırmış görsün

  • baba büyüksün ellerine sağlık,

  • sözlerr yetmezz erkan oğuru anlatmaya

  • müthiş

  • His name is ERKAN OGUR invertor of fretless guitar.

  • Can i have the name of the song plz?

  • buyuk cevizin dibi (anonymous)

  • çok güzel bea çok güzel

  • beautiful

  • reminds me of walking down Istiklal Caddesi at sunset.......it's been too long....istanbul, I miss you

  • What a gift to be able to play like that...!

  • Very nice! Do you have any lessons on you tube explaining your style, scales, your music in english?

  • no, i've never seen any before. but i tried to play fretless guitar like erkan ogur, too. if you listen his songs carefully, you can understand his style. and you should check the internet for turkish scales. good luck..

  • Yeh! Erkan Ogur is a great player. I did find some lessons.. Thank's!!

  • sweet!

  • awesome

  • that is so interesting

now you can get micro tones using this frettless guitar

    thanks for the video

  • we are not arab!!!reading a history !!!different nations... .what a ignorance!!!

  • Awesome hair.

  • Erkan Oğur and Bülent Ortaçgil. great duo. with one word fascinating.

  • eyvallah kardes

  • sarkinin ismi varmi

is there a name to this song

  • MasaAllah very nice:D(and the afro to yeahhh...xD)

  • I like his music and his Anatolian Afro.

  • Comment removed

  • wiki says erkan ogur is the finder of fretless guitar

oh well he still designs perfect guitars still and many many other instruments

this man is a master legend

  • i thought he was erkan ogur

  • Wow, this is quite impressive. As a musician I give props on this

  • In one word: soothing

  • Erkan Hoca dunyanin en iyi gitaristilerindendir.

ayrica eline aldigi her telli calgiyi ustaca calabilen, super gitarlar yapan, turkiyede bi turlu hakettigi degeri bulamayan sanatci

  • All people rule.

Fenix's comment was proven quite thoroughly although in a reverse sense. Ignorance and illiteracy ARE common here on youtube.

    Read the following sentence:

It's unfortunate people in the U.S. won't listen to this because it is "Arabian".

Notice the quotation marks. The use of quotation marks in that sentence indicates the writer was quoting a statement made by another person.

Fenix brought to light the issue of prejudice that exists toward a particular culture in the U.S.

  • As judastrii pointed out, Turkish, Persian, and Arabic music use similar micro tonal scales. To that I will also add that music from Asia does as well. Because western music does not make use of these musical structures the common American would quickly define this style of music as "Middle Eastern". So an ignorant American that felt prejudice towards anything associated with a foreign country would not listen to this "Arabic" guitar player.

  • In closing: sttoper10, spell check, please.

azarhasdqszca, ignorant is an adjective, not a noun.

Feel free to pick apart my grammar, sentence structure, and spelling. It's the only way to learn.

  • @subsquiggle

you are funny. he is not an arab. this is an turkish guitar player. turks are not arabs, and americans are not africans. so learn this fact, stupid americans.

  • @geileSpritzwurst

I never said he was. Keep reading and take your ESL comments elsewhere.

  • Quotation marks do not necessarily have to denote a quote made by another person. You should know that if you're bringing the "red pen" onto YouTube comments.

  • True. In this case, my goal was to bring definition to what was written and clarify what I perceived to be the proper context of the original statement.

I thank you for your comment.

  • @subsquiggle Thanks for sounding smart for once, everybody else just went batshit crazy over what I said.

  • @fenix9885 we re not fuckin arab lol:))))

  • turks and arabs rule!!!!!!!!!

  • it is not an arabic melody or song you illiterate ignorant. it is a pure turkish melody and song

  • fenix9885 you are another ignorant American

you should know diffrents between Turkish and

Arap.Totally diffrent cultute and diffrent history same religion

  • wow...relax there buddy. he might be american but at least he listens to eastern european music, something most americans will probably never do in their life. you sound ignorant yourself with that comment. rather than throwing crap like that around you can simply say that he was wrong labeling this music as'Arabic'.

  • hey listen they use the same musical scales understood

  • Even if he is american, most people wont know the difference between arabic and turkish cultures just by listening, even though they are such different cultures, so lay off.

  • i LOVE this song! i grew up on rock n roll and elvis, but this music has such a special sound. its unfortunate people in the US wont listen to this because it is "arabian". music knows no boundaries, it is beautiful no matter where its from

  • @fenix9885 I live in the U.S. and I'm listening to it. Nice tune, but quality is unbearable.

  • Music has no national, Music is international language erkan ogur is the best musician in turkiye

  • @fenix9885

wtf are you talking bout? this is turkish and

not arabic and has nothing to do with it!

  • @86BOZKURT86 I guess you can't tell what quotations are, can you? Did I say Arabian, or "Arabian"? Can you tell the difference? Apparently not. You'd rather try to sound smart (which you don't) than comment on the actual song. Thanks for trying!

  • @fenix9885 why do you say people in the U.S. won't listen to this ? Sounds like an ignorant statement.

  • @bulldog01209 Actually you sound pretty retarded yourself there missy. Way to offer nothing of substance to the conversation or even attempt to say something positive. There is nothing ignorant about what I said, I was merely commenting on the difference of musical tastes between countries and cultures. There are many Americans (not all, please pay attention) that will simply not listen to music if it sounds like it is from the Middle East, or "Arabian". If you want to talk, please sound smart

  • @fenix9885 maybe you should read your own comment where you say " it's unfortunate people in the US won't listen to it because it is 'arabian'." You didn't say some people you said PEOPLE. Maybe you should learn how to write english and then learn how to articulate thought into coherent writing.

I still want to know how you came to your conclusion. You sound like an ignorant person making statements based on assumption.

  • @bulldog01209 Haha, you obviously have no life. You like to pick fights over nothing. So me not using the word "some" has you offended? I've noticed that most posters on here support my statements :) My point was that MOST Americans wouldn't like this music because they perceive it to be "Arabian" sounding, whether it is or not. Its all about perception. I'm just sorry you couldn't post something positive about the song and instead chose to be a little whiny bitch

  • @fenix9885 Your ignorance offends me. You say nonsense based on assumption and supposition. You think its harmless, but idiots like you saturate everyday life especially the internet. I take pleasure in pointing out your folly and stupidity because it's easy and you have no intelligent comeback. Stop talking out of your ass and talk about what you know not what you think you might probably know maybe.

  • @fenix9885 arab? dude, turkish people are NOT arabs, dont ever say that again, so offensive. But its nice that you like this song. Turkish songs are very pretty and touching.

  • @fenix9885 This is not arabian. This is pure Turkish.

  • @fenix9885

Its not arabian my friend . First you must read about Turkish art and music

  • Erkan Ogur was born at Harput (Elazig/Turkey).

This music also belongs to Harput music where Turks and armenians live together for many years..

  • Thats nice music .....

    wallah....

  • In Greece, we use a different instrument to play songs that sound very similar to this. I am sure Turks use that instrument as well. Haven't heard it with fretless guitars before. Very interesting.

  • Can't stop listening to it! Where can I get the original song?

  • a fretless one must be much harder than a fretful (lol! fretful!) guitar, its like a violin with no markers

  • like a oud

  • @StareCalmo

    like a oud

  • anyway this is just a WONDERFUL song

    erkan ogur muhtesemsin

  • Lol he's got the 80's haircut :P I love the music.

  • does anyone know th e tuning?

  • he uses the same tuning on classical guitar. but as you can see this is a fretless classical guitar. playing technique, intonation of the guitar etc. is different from classical guitar.

  • I must ask, does anybody know where I could get sheet music for this? SN or TAB, I'd love to learn this song.

  • calm down and listen to the music ...

  • But,though, i dont think it is the point of this video. Who cares? just listen it and relax. Everyone on earth is human. If the world weren't such a big place, all of us would be living together with same language, culture, religion etc. Or think about that, have you chosen to be bulgarian? I haven't chosen to be turk.Could you ever know what were you writing here if you were Turk? Maybe you would be swearing at someone who were trying to decide what is what or whose is whose, right? We're all bros

  • %100 rite

  • he is a türk his name is erkan oğur

  • harikaa.

  • I must say, I am very impressed by the fretless guitar! When I first started learning classical guitar, I immediately got spoiled by frets even after playing violin for years. Playing fretless guitar is just something I don't imagine I could do.

  • SCREW ALL U TURK HATERS BITCHES ARE RACIEST AND FULL OF IGNORANCE THAT THEY THINK THERE THE BEST. O and Turkey is not ment to get fucked by other nations bitch. Its got the biggest most tactial army in Europe and its almost as large as America so its not gettin fucked by anyone smart ass

  • i think the dude was defending the turks and saying the bulgarians were the ones getting fucked by other nations. anyways, grow up people. i think its sad that there are so many flamers on youtube who are nothing but ignorant cowards that feel like they man up cause they can talk shit to someone they dont know.

  • ...calm down, people like you make everyone think that Turks are idiots....enjoy the music and stop pissing people off or people will turn on Turkey one day and then you will get F*cked

  • ...calm down, people like you make everyone think that Turks are idiots....enjoy the music and stop pissing people off or people will turn on Turkey one day and then you will get F*cked

  • wow i have read a lot of these comments full of ignorance and hate. this is beautiful music regardless of origin. i am from california and happened upon this song. maybe you all need to smile a little more enjoy the passions in life that make us all human. just enjoy the music :)

  • just show me an empire in history, which was built by the bulgarians: NOTHING...

You are nothing; you were fucked by greeks (byzantians), then by the turks(ottomans), then by the russians....

Your destiny: to get fucked by other nations...

  • i am nothing to do with Turk... but u better to Shut you mouth Up..// just listen it.. it's beautiful, here we r not talkin about something who's Fucked by who...

    What a poor nation...

  • this song is a traditional turkish song...

    name: büyük cevizin dibi...

  • I am looking for this song with lyrics...would sound nice would'nt it? Like relazing on a Turkish beach by the Mediterranean, wach the waves as each note fo this melody caresses them!

  • SubHaanallah! Masha Allah!

  • wonder how he gets the sublime tone. Does he wear metal nails or picks on his finger to slide or does he use nails...or just fingers like any other guitar?

  • no its just years of playing and plus, it is a fretless guitar lol

  • well its sublime..and shows true mastery..I am a musician, checkout my Tabla videos on my page ( click on my name carlosmangela). I have also elarnt classical music for over 18 years and know what it means to master an instrument.
