Back when the game first game out, I got the mortar super early and it was pretty much unstoppable. Now that everyone has it, its really not that good once people start counter mortaring.

What it is good for is denying ground and allowing your team to push up.

i just had this horrible realisation when i was looking through all the medals you can earn (i have 31/50 so far)

that one of the medals requires 300 mortar kills.

i really don't want to earn that one, but i want all medals.

I will run into your spawn and do anything it takes to kill someone using the stupid mortars... even if I die in the process. I just twice last night ran as deep into the enemy spawn as possible and hurled a grenade, killing the mortar user just before I died from timing out in the spawn. it was epic!!

one note though - if you spawn-camp my team I will bring the mortar out to own your team... spawn camping is the worst part of this game.

Its not bad at times, had one game where i picked up 15 kills in like 3mins. I find you have to fire off a few shots, pick it up and move to a next location.

I use them against snipers who spawn beacon on the top on inaccessible buildings

@fawkes78 People who sit in spawns and fire mortars all day at nothing rank the same as those mile-away snipers.

They don't do jack shit, and people like you will defend them because "THEY'RE CREDIT TO TEAM, MAN".

Works great when your already spawn camping them with their own tank and you vehicles on Tehran.

The only time I use the mortar is if the other team is spamming them in useless places as I can one shot each of them and after a couple of deaths they give up and go join the battle. Then I can get my C4 back.

Using Mortar- aka - sucking at Battlefield. Same goes for claymores and usas-12 frags. They all need to be gotten rid of in Battlefield. I got them all, and I stopped using them all, just because its unfair, and takes the joy out of Battlefield.
